The blazing summer heat was oppressive, with dark clouds gathering and the occasional rumble of thunder echoing across the sky, a forewarning to all living things of the approaching storm.

In an old apartment building, a young woman wearing a delivery uniform was carrying a package as she trudged up the stairs, drenched in sweat.

"Ugh, this is killing me! Living on such a high floor without an elevator in this stifling, hot weather... unbearable!"

Though she grumbled under her breath, she didn't stop climbing. After a few exhausting minutes, she finally reached the top floor of the dilapidated apartment. Panting heavily, she leaned against the wall, glancing at the door number to confirm the recipient's address.

Once sure she had the right place, she took a few deep breaths to steady herself. Wiping the sweat from her face, she pulled out a bright red clown nose, put it on, flashed a signature smile, and knocked on the door.

"Hello! Tailwind Express! Always on time! Your package is here!"

The apartment remained silent. The delivery girl frowned in confusion and knocked harder this time.

"Tailwind Express! Your package is here! Is anyone home?"

This time, there was movement inside.

Amid the clatter of things falling over, quick footsteps approached. Knowing the recipient was coming, the delivery girl stood up straight and maintained her cheerful smile.

Creak...

The worn-out door opened to reveal a lanky teenager with a faintly haggard look. His slightly sunken eyes, shadowed by dark circles, gave him an air of weariness. He barely glanced at the delivery girl before his attention shifted entirely to the package in her hands.

'Oh my gosh, what a handsome guy! That slightly disheveled vibe... so alluring!'

All the delivery girl's earlier frustration and fatigue vanished instantly. Her heart raced as she stared at the brooding boy, momentarily at a loss for words.

"Uh, is that my package?"

The boy's question snapped her out of her daze. Quickly regaining her composure, she handed him the package and pulled out a pen.

"Thank you for choosing Tailwind Express! Please sign your name here."

The boy took the package and pen without hesitation, scribbled his name, and handed the pen back. His gaze returned to the package, filled with a hint of impatience.

"Liam? Isn't that a western name? Is that your username or your real name?"

As the delivery girl tore off the receipt and saw the name scrawled there, her admiration deepened, and she couldn't help but ask.

The boy frowned slightly, puzzled. "It's my real name. Why? Does your delivery service ask about this sort of thing now?"

The delivery girl quickly waved her hands. "No, no! I just got curious all of a sudden. Please don't mind me."

She handed the package back, slightly loosened her collar, and fanned herself.

"This weather is so hot. If only there were an air-conditioned place to rest for a while..."

Her gaze drifted toward Liam as if hinting at something.

However, Liam, entirely focused on the package, absentmindedly replied, "Oh, yeah, it's pretty hot. Thanks for the trouble. You should head back and rest. Goodbye."

With that, he shut the door without a second thought, leaving the delivery girl standing there, dumbfounded.

"You! You! Hmph! What a jerk! Destined to stay single forever!"

She stomped her foot in frustration, then turned to face the daunting staircase. Her heart sank.

Inside the apartment, Liam eagerly opened the package, his face lighting up as he pulled out two game cartridges.

"Ha! Pokémon Sun and Moon, the latest editions—I've got them!"

Indeed, Liam's package contained the newest Pokémon games, Sun and Moon. As a diehard Pokémon fan, he had pre-ordered them as soon as they were announced. Now that the games were in his hands, he couldn't wait to start playing.

Grabbing two 3DS consoles from his bed, he inserted the game cards and patiently waited for the games to load.

On a shelf by his bed, a row of Pokémon game cards was neatly arranged: Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, White, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, XY—all meticulously collected.

Pokémon merchandise filled the entire room.

As the games loaded, Liam's stomach growled loudly, protesting after two missed meals.

Frowning slightly, he muttered to himself, "Ugh, I guess I have to eat something first. What a hassle. I wish I could taste the berries from the Pokémon world. If there's an afterlife, I'd love to be reborn in the Pokémon world. Even being a cute Pokémon would be fine."

His stomach growled even louder. Reluctantly, Liam got out of bed and shuffled to the fridge to scrounge for whatever food was left.

Downstairs, the delivery girl sat on the ground, panting heavily. Sweat dripped from her nose onto the pavement. She looked back at the top floor with a resentful expression.

"Seriously! Such a blockhead! He didn't even spare me a proper glance, even after I went out of my way to give him hints. What else does a pretty girl have to do? No sense of chivalry at all! What's the point of having such a chic name and a handsome face if you're so dense? God, why do people like him even exist? If you're truly watching, just punish this single-for-life guy already!"

Her voice grew louder, and as her last words echoed, a torrential downpour began. A bolt of lightning struck the top floor with a deafening crash, leaving it scorched and blackened.

Flames erupted briefly before the rain extinguished them.

Then, astonishingly, a dazzling golden light burst from the rooftop, piercing the sky before disappearing entirely.

The delivery girl stood frozen in shock, soaked to the skin as rain poured down her face. It took her a moment to react. With trembling hands, she pulled out her phone and shakily dialed 110.

"H-hello, police? Please hurry up! Someone here just received a heavenly tribulation!"

Meanwhile, inside the apartment, Liam, with a day-old piece of bread in his mouth, had just returned to his bed. As he sat down, the games had already finished loading. He took a big bite of the bread and was about to start playing.

On the screens of the two 3DS consoles, the legendary Pokémon from Sun and Moon—Solgaleo and Lunala—appeared in dramatic animations. Being someone who never skipped intros, Liam leaned in to watch.

At that moment, the storm outside intensified. Realizing he'd left his balcony window open, he rushed to close it.

Just then, a brilliant flash of lightning struck. His vision went white, and everything went dark.

When the storm passed, the top floor of the apartment had a massive gaping hole. Rain poured through, dousing the flames.

Inside, a charred figure lay lifeless.

The rainwater seeped into the 3DS consoles, causing sparks to flicker. Suddenly, a powerful golden light enveloped the "charcoal-like" figure, breaking through the roof and shooting into the heavens, before vanishing completely.
