Although this was Liam's first actual battle, his mind was exceptionally calm. He had envisioned and rehearsed scenarios like this countless times in dreams and fantasies.

Even if the Ekans were being commanded by someone, Liam was confident he wouldn't falter, let alone now, when the Ekans was fighting without guidance.

"Nidorino, Leer!"

Liam issued his command calmly. At his words, Nidorino's eyes widened fiercely, exuding a menacing glare that startled the charging Ekans mid-motion.

The Ekans's body froze momentarily, and the white glow on its fangs abruptly dissipated, unable to maintain its Bite due to its stunned state.

Its momentum carried it forward, but it had already lost control of its actions. With a fierce glint in its eyes, the Ekans opened its mouth wide and lunged toward Nidorino for another bite.

"Wait until it gets closer! Use Double Kick!"

Liam's cold command was precise. Nidorino sidestepped swiftly, and the moment the Ekans was within range, its hind legs shot out in rapid succession.

Both kicks landed squarely on the Ekans's body, sending it flying.

"Stay alert! Use Focus Energy!"

As the Ekans tumbled through the air, its body twisting before it landed unsteadily, Liam instructed Nidorino to seize the moment and buff itself.

Nidorino let out a low growl, golden light flickering across its purple body as it prepared to increase its critical hit rate.

The Ekans, recovering from its landing, shook its head and immediately noticed the glowing Nidorino. Without hesitation, it opened its mouth wide and unleashed a barrage of purple Poison Stings.

"Nidorino! Break those Poison Stings with Fury Attack!"

The Poison Stings were fast and wide-ranging, making evasion difficult. Since dodging wasn't an option, there was no choice but to meet them head-on. Golden light faded from Nidorino's body as it extended its glowing forepaws and swiped rapidly at the incoming stingers, shattering every single one.

"Well done, Nidorino!"

Liam was overjoyed at the display. Nidorino's performance was living up to its excellent evaluation, surpassing average stats in all aspects.

Its natural battle instincts were outstanding, and Liam's admiration grew with each passing moment.

However, just as the Ekans's attack failed, it suddenly reared up, its body's unique circular patterns glowing with a strange light. Nidorino couldn't avoid the radiance in time and was struck.

"Uh-oh! That's Glare! Nidorino, are you okay?"

Liam realized his mistake too late, cursing himself for not anticipating the move. Knowing Glare's paralyzing effect, he watched Nidorino anxiously.

Sure enough...

"Nido!"

Nidorino let out a startled cry before its body stiffened, golden currents of electricity crackling faintly over its form. Being purely a Poison-type and not yet evolved into Nidoking, Nidorino was susceptible to paralysis.

The Ekans, seizing its advantage, lunged forward with lightning speed. Its tail shimmered with a metallic gleam as it struck Nidorino forcefully, sending the paralyzed Pokémon flying several meters.

"What? Iron Tail?! Is that a bred move? Nidorino!"

Liam panicked as he watched Nidorino struggle to its feet, his concern evident.

"Chaaa!"

The Ekans hissed triumphantly, charging again to wrap its long body tightly around Nidorino, constricting it mercilessly and gradually tightening its grip.

"Don't give up, Nidorino! Use Poison Sting!"

"Nido!"

Despite the pain, Nidorino managed to twist its head, its horn glowing with purple energy. It jabbed the horn into Ekans's side, causing it to loosen its grip slightly.

"Keep it up, Nidorino! Use Poison Sting again!"

Encouraged by the effectiveness of its attack, Nidorino attempted another Poison Sting, but the agile Ekans dodged and constricted even tighter.

Its fangs began to glow white once more as it prepared to sink them into Nidorino with Bite.

This time, the attack landed on Nidorino's neck, forcing it to the ground with a pained cry.

"Nido!"

Liam's heart ached as he instinctively stepped forward, ready to intervene. But just as he lifted his foot, Nidorino's eyes snapped open, filled with unwavering determination.

It let out a low growl, signaling that it wasn't ready to give up.

"...I see. Let's go all out! Nidorino, use Counter!"

Hearing the command, Nidorino hesitated for a moment before its eyes lit up with resolve. Enduring the pain in its body, it rose shakily to its feet. With a fierce roar, it released a blinding light, unleashing a powerful surge of energy.

The unsuspecting Ekans was sent flying, its long body hurtling through the air before crashing to the ground and rolling several times. Dizzy and disoriented, it struggled to stand, its eyes spinning like spirals.

"Great job, Nidorino! Now, finish it off with a full-powered Double Kick!"

With the Ekans still reeling, Liam seized the chance for a decisive strike.

"Nido!"

Free from the Ekans's grip, Nidorino charged forward, closing the distance in an instant. It spun around, delivering two powerful kicks that launched the Ekans into the air.

The defeated Pokémon landed heavily, kicking up dust before collapsing with swirled eyes, unable to battle further.

Liam stared at the scene in stunned disbelief before breaking into a triumphant cheer. Rushing to his exhausted Nidorino's side, he wrapped it in a hug, laughing and shouting in joy.

"We did it! We won! Nidorino, you were amazing!"

"Nido! Nido!"

Nidorino snorted proudly, tilting its head up as if to say, "Of course."

"You were incredible, Nidorino. Here, drink this—it'll help with your injuries."

Liam gently examined Nidorino's battle wounds, his heart aching. He opened his inventory to redeem a bottle of Moomoo Milk and pretended to pull it from his pocket, offering it to Nidorino.

After sniffing the milk's enticing aroma, Nidorino eagerly opened its mouth, letting Liam pour the entire bottle in. It drank contentedly, its face softening with bliss as its injuries quickly healed.

Liam smiled at the sight, relieved to see Nidorino recovering. He then turned toward the now-conscious Ekans, pulling out another bottle of Moomoo Milk and walking over with a gentle smile.

After all, the Ekans's stamina was too low to endure a Counter and several Double Kicks. Expecting it to fight any further would be unrealistic.
