Chapter 16: Chapter 16: A Bountiful Harvest
Once again entering the Orange Forest, Rex's feelings were completely different.
Previously, he was purely in survival mode, but this time, it felt more like a vacation.
Now, Rex had the mood to admire everything in the forest, with birds chirping and flowers blooming everywhere, presenting a vibrant scene.
However, as time passed, Rex became more and more anxious, wondering if he had come here in vain today, as he had searched for a long time without finding any worthwhile Pokémon to capture.
"Tailow, Tailow!"
Suddenly, Tailow called out to Rex as if it had made a discovery.
Following Tailow, Rex arrived in front of a large tree but didn't notice anything unusual.
However, after circling around, he finally spotted a Pokémon on the back of the tree trunk.
"Heracross!"
Rex excitedly whispered.
This was a very rare Pokémon, and he didn't expect to find one here.
The Heracross on the tree didn't pay attention to Rex but continued to hug the trunk, greedily sucking the sweet sap, as if it had nothing to do with the outside world.
After seeing this, Rex didn't immediately disturb Heracross but quietly watched it feed.
After about 30 minutes, Heracross finally stopped eating and prepared to fly away.
"Wait, Heracross, do you want to have a Pokémon battle? If you lose, you'll become my Pokémon!"
Rex quickly spoke as Heracross was about to fly away.
Hearing Rex's words, Heracross hesitated for a moment, but since Rex didn't disturb its meal earlier, it decided to give him a chance.
"Heracross!"
Then Heracross flew from the tree to the ground and called out to Rex.
"Go, Tailow!"
Seeing the fierce fighting spirit in Heracross's eyes, Rex knew it agreed to the battle.
"Tailow, Wing Attack!"
Upon receiving the command, Tailow's wings emitted a faint light, then it swooped towards Heracross.
However, Heracross didn't just sit back, it used its front legs to perform Brick Break, countering Tailow's Wing Attack.
After that, Rex didn't give any more commands, and Tailow and Heracross on the field continued to collide.
The battle had turned into a confrontation of strength and speed, with Tailow constantly attacking Heracross with its wings while Heracross used Brick Break to resist Tailow's attacks.
After dozens of collisions, Heracross finally couldn't hold on and was hit by Tailow's Wing Attack, falling to the ground.
At this point, Tailow was also panting heavily. It won this battle not only through its daily hard training but also because of its indomitable will.
Without hesitation, Rex took out a Poké Ball and threw it towards Heracross.
As expected, after shaking a few times, the Poké Ball stopped moving, indicating that he had successfully captured Heracross.
"Come out, Heracross!"
After releasing Heracross, Rex immediately treated both Tailow and Heracross on the spot. They were both in bad condition, and if not treated promptly, they wouldn't be able to battle if they encountered danger later.
For Tailow, Rex's treatment was already commonplace, but for Heracross, it was quite miraculous.
Feeling its health restored in a moment and its condition better than ever, Heracross no longer had any resistance to Rex, but instead happily hugged him.
"Heracross, please teach me in the future! Also, Tailow, you need to get along well with Heracross!"
"Heracross!"
"Tailow, Tailow!"
In fact, during the battle just now, the two Pokémon had already developed some mutual understanding. After hearing Rex's words, they both nodded earnestly.
After capturing Heracross, Rex seemed to be on a roll. After a cave, he captured a Sandshrew.
When encountering Sandshrew, Rex hadn't decided whether to capture it yet, but Heracross, who heard that Rex came to the Orange Forest to capture Pokémon, volunteered and charged forward.
Facing the bewildered Sandshrew, Heracross directly used Brick Break. The Sandshrew fell to the ground immediately.
There was no choice; the level difference between Sandshrew and Heracross was too great.
Seeing Sandshrew knocked down, Rex didn't hesitate anymore and directly threw a Poké Ball to capture it. However, since there was only one healing left for today, he didn't treat it and let it slowly recover inside the Poké Ball.
While passing through a patch of flowers, Rex found a discarded Bellsprout and two Oddish. They should have been left behind during a group migration.
When Rex found them, Bellsprout was seriously injured, most likely from protecting Oddish. In the forest, Pokémon all had territorial consciousness. Bellsprout, flying around freely, would easily become a target for attacks.
When accompanying the group, other Pokémon would fear their numbers and might restrain themselves from attacking them.
Once separated from the group, they would lose their deterrent effect, so Pokémon left behind by the group were in great danger.
Seeing the urgency of the situation, Rex used up his last healing opportunity to treat Bellsprout.
After obtaining the agreement from Bellsprout and Oddish, Rex took out Poké Balls to capture them.
By this time, it was already 4 o'clock in the afternoon, so Rex started to head back. Otherwise, it would be too late to return to the farm.
On the way back, Rex chose to detour to the lake he had discovered before. Previously, he had only hurried past it, but now he wanted to take another look to see if there were any gains.
After walking for more than an hour, Rex finally arrived at the lake, with the setting sun casting its rays.
Looking at the sparkling lake, occasionally with Magikarp splashing, the evening breeze brushing against Rex's cheeks, he felt as if all the fatigue of the day had disappeared.
"Splash!"
Just as Rex closed his eyes and immersed himself in this peaceful scene, suddenly his face felt wet.
Opening his eyes, he saw a Poliwag lying on its back, laughing uproariously.
Seeing this scene, Rex couldn't help but realize that he had been played by this Poliwag.
Now, how could Rex endure it? Didn't it know he was the owner of this farm? It hadn't even paid rent to him, yet it dared to toy with the landlord.
"Tailow, use Arial Ace!"
The Poliwag that heard this voice had already sensed danger and was about to dive into the water, but it underestimated Tailow's speed.
After being sneak attacked by Poliwag earlier, Tailow was already unhappy. Now, with Rex's order, it didn't hesitate at all and directly used its skill.
Poliwag sank halfway into the water when it felt its body being hit, then its eyes rolled, and it flopped onto the ground like a dead fish.
Unable to resist, Poliwag, who had fainted, was captured by a Poké Ball that Rex threw. It didn't even struggle before being captured.
"Look at you now, feeling proud? You're in my hands now, haha!"
Looking at the Poké Ball in his
hand, Rex laughed triumphantly, scaring the surrounding Water-type Pokémon into hiding under the lake, not daring to show themselves again.
Now, Rex had already thought of a whole set of training procedures for Poliwag in his mind, so it dared not spray water indiscriminately anymore.
After patting his face, Rex no longer had the mood to appreciate the scenery and set off directly for home.
It wasn't until 7 o'clock in the evening that Rex returned home. At this time, since the electricity had been connected, the hall was still bright.
"Boss, you're finally back, it's already so late!"
Seeing Rex return, Yuli's suspended heart finally fell.
Although Officer Jenny had told her that Rex had survived alone in the Orange Forest for a long time, she couldn't help but worry when she thought that he was only 11 years old.
"Yeah, sorry to make you worry, but I've had a fruitful day today!"
Rex smiled and said to Yuli.
"Really? That's great, boss, you haven't eaten yet, so let's have dinner first!"
Although she was eager to ask Rex if he had caught the starter Pokémon for her, she remembered that he hadn't eaten yet and hurriedly spoke.
