Pokemon: I'm a Farmer

Chapter 346: Chapter 408: Facing the Storm

"Yeah, the floodwaters are spreading fast. If the storm keeps going, even Fallarbor Town will be hit by flooding soon!"

Officer Jenny, with access to intel from the Pokémon League, was well aware of how critical the situation had become.

At that moment, what Rex was most worried about was his farm. The elevation there was slightly lower than Fallarbor Town's, and it was already on the brink of danger.

"Officer Jenny, with the League's level of technology, can't they figure out what's causing this abnormal storm?"

Rex asked the question weighing most heavily on his mind.

"The Pokémon League recently captured satellite images of the storm's center—there are two unidentified mythical Pokémon battling there. The storm is a result of the aftershocks from their fight."

Officer Jenny relayed the intel she had just received from the League.

"If that's the case, why hasn't the League sent powerful trainers to stop them? How could they let this turn into such a catastrophe?"

Rex was well aware of the League's strength and didn't believe they were incapable of handling the situation.

"They tried. The League dispatched Elite Four-level trainers to break through the storm and stop the fight, but it didn't work. The storm is wrapped around those two Pokémon, and not even the Elite trainers' Pokémon could get close."

Officer Jenny said bitterly.

It made sense. If Elite-level Pokémon could break through the storm, it would've ended by now. Humans were clearly insignificant in the face of such natural force.

And for Pokémon capable of triggering a disaster on this scale, Rex could only think of mythical Pokémon—specifically, those whose power was tied to elemental forces, like the Legendary Birds.

"Officer Jenny, if there's nothing urgent right now, I need to get back to Rex Farm. I'm afraid something might happen there."

Rex urgently wanted to return to his farm. It was likely already in danger.

"Alright, go ahead. But if it becomes impossible to hold out, you need to retreat back to town!"

Officer Jenny understood how much the young man cared about his farm but still offered her advice.

"I understand, Officer Jenny."

Rex waved to her, then mounted his Swellow and soared off into the sky.

When Rex reached the skies over Rex Farm, he saw that Jade Moon Lake was already starting to overflow.

Although it was still some distance from where the residents lived, if the rain kept pouring like this, it wouldn't hold out much longer.

"Yuli, I'm heading to the center of the storm now. Keep an eye on the surroundings. If anything seems wrong, immediately return the Pokémon to their Poké Balls and have Swellow take you to town to evacuate."

Rex gave his instructions seriously.

"Got it. But, Rex—please be careful!"

Yuli knew Rex wanted to stop the disaster. She didn't try to stop him, only offered heartfelt concern.

"Don't worry, I won't be reckless."

Rex smiled reassuringly at her.

"Diancie, Shaymin—I'm counting on you both for this."

He turned to the two nearby Pokémon and spoke.

"Diancie!"

"Shaymin!"

Diancie and Shaymin voiced their agreement. They were just as furious about the ones threatening their home and stood firmly on Rex's side.

Because this storm was caused by mythical Pokémon, there weren't many on Rex Farm strong enough to participate in the battle.

Aside from the two mythical Pokémon, only Swellow, Machamp, Milotic, and Gyarados could barely be considered capable.

After recalling them all into Poké Balls, Rex had Swellow carry him toward the source of the storm.

Perhaps due to the urgency of the situation, Shaymin didn't resist being captured. It quietly entered a high-grade Poké Ball.

Soon, Rex and Swellow arrived over the ocean east of Slateport City. Strangely, there was no rain here, but the wind was getting stronger and lightning constantly crackled from the black clouds above.

Several times, lightning nearly struck them. Fortunately, Swellow's keen senses allowed it to speed up in an instant and narrowly avoid the strikes.

Even though they weren't hit, the close calls left Rex drenched in cold sweat and even made him consider turning back—but in the end, he overcame his fear and resolved to face whatever lay ahead.

Finally, Rex and Swellow arrived before a massive waterspout. It was enormous, drawing in seawater and creating a scene like a reverse waterfall rising into the sky.

Rex had Swellow fire a Hyper Beam at the waterspout, but it only splashed up some water. Realizing it was futile, he gave up on that approach.

"Diancie, Shaymin—it's up to you two now. Please use your origin energy to shield us so we can get through the vortex."

Rex released Diancie and Shaymin from their Poké Balls and gave the command.

Without hesitation, they began channeling their origin energy.

First, a layer of emerald green energy enveloped them, followed by a second layer of pink energy covering the first—forming a double-layered barrier.

"Swellow, let's go!"

Once the shield was up, Rex didn't hesitate and gave the order.

Swellow, following its trainer's command, shot forward like an arrow, charging straight into the waterspout.

At first, they moved quickly, but the deeper they went, the more resistance they encountered, and their speed began to drop significantly.

Without the dual protection of Diancie and Shaymin's origin energy, Swellow would've been swept up by the vortex long ago, flung who knows where.

Thankfully, everything went smoothly. With the power of the two mythical Pokémon, Swellow managed—just barely—to bring Rex into the heart of the storm.

To Rex's surprise, the interior of the storm was eerily calm. Sunlight even streamed down from above, forming a stark contrast to the chaos outside.

There was no time to admire the view. Rex quickly spotted two figures locked in fierce combat high in the sky. Each of their clashes released waves of energy that were absorbed by the surrounding storm.

As Rex approached, the storm clouds of wind and lightning finally stopped their battle. They retreated to opposite ends of the sky, forming a triangle with Rex and his companions.

Of course, they weren't wary of Rex himself—but of Diancie and Shaymin, two mythical Pokémon on par with them.

Shaymin had already shifted into its Sky Forme, now floating on Rex's right while Diancie hovered on his left—like loyal bodyguards, ready for battle.
