Pokémon: Perfect Start

When Ash stepped into the Viridian City Gym, Giovanni was waiting for him.

"You've come, Ash."

"Yeah, I'm here."

"You shouldn't have come."

"But I still came."

"You can't possibly defeat me with your current strength, go back."

"I'll use Chansey."

"..."

Giovanni's face turned green. If there was one Pokémon in Ash's team that he least wanted to fight, it was Chansey. Ash's Chansey was practically a super tank, and his own Pokémon really didn't fare well against it. Even though his Pokémon were mostly Rock and Ground types and therefore immune to Poison-type moves, Ash's Chansey had learned Toxic! It was just too damn annoying! He didn't know how such a cute kid back then had come up with such a torturous move.

"Ash, if you dare use Chansey, I'll sever our godfather-godson relationship."

Giovanni really didn't want to fight Chansey again—it was just too disgusting. As for the godfather-godson relationship Giovanni mentioned, over the years Ash and Giovanni had become quite close, and they often helped each other out, which ultimately led to them acknowledging this godfather-godson relationship. Of course, only the higher-ups in Team Rocket knew about Ash's identity, and Ash still hadn't remembered that Giovanni was actually the boss of Team Rocket.

As for Ash sending a bunch of Pokémon thieves to jail? Giovanni said that those small fry could be caught by his godson anytime, and besides, the Continental Hotel business run by his godson had already become an important liquid asset for Team Rocket.

That's right, Team Rocket also had a share in the Continental Hotel, though it was under the name of the Giovanni family.

"So you won't let me use Chansey? Fine then..."

"You little rascal, you really had bad intentions..." Giovanni looked at Ash, somewhat speechless. Right from the start of his journey, he was planning to use Chansey to teach others a lesson? Just like my godson should be! I like it!

At first, Giovanni thought the photos were quite good and full of energy, but when he noticed Ho-Oh, his eyes nearly popped out. The high-definition enlarged version of Ho-Oh made him breathe rapidly.

"This! This is?!"

"Oh, we encountered it on the way out, so we quickly took a photo, it's a great start."

Giovanni looked at Ash's face, which had a "I'm so lucky" smile, and didn't know what to say.

"Ash, do you know what kind of Pokémon this is?"

"Of course, it's Ho-Oh, that's why I specifically had Meowth take a high-definition enlarged version."

"You really are, wait! This level of clarity…"

It was then that Giovanni realized that the clarity and magnification effect of the photos Ash gave him were practically tailor-made for photographing other organizations!

Meowth took out the blueprints and handed them to Giovanni, who nodded in satisfaction and then said, "Great, soon I will have the company release a new product, but it's better to release a limited version first." At this point, Giovanni looked at Ash, after all, Meowth is Ash's Pokémon.

"Sure, I don't understand these things anyway, Dad, just handle it as you see fit."

"It would be great if you could learn a bit about company management, that way you could help me out too. Put away the blueprints, Ariana."

Seeing the Poké Ball handed over by Giovanni, Ash didn't hesitate; after all, he had raised this Weedle of Giovanni's together for a while, so he and the Weedle were already familiar with each other.

"I'll train it well, then. I'm off now, take care of yourself, Dad."

As Ash was about to leave, Giovanni remembered the photo in his hand.

"Ash, you forgot your photo."

"Keep it!"

Giovanni looked at the photo in his hand, a group photo of Ash and his Pokémon under Ho-Oh, and couldn't help but smile from the bottom of his heart.

"Taking a photo with a legendary Pokémon, that's a first for sure."
