Pokémon: Rebron as Red, The Strongest Champion

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Primeape's Fury

"Wait, are you just going to throw a Poké Ball? It's still eating a rice ball," Misty reminded him.

"I won't let this opportunity escape!" Ash threw the Poké Ball he had already prepared. "Go, catch that Mankey!"

A comical scene unfolded: the clever Mankey threw the rice ball in its hand, and the Poké Ball slammed right into it, absorbing the snack in a flash of red light.

"I caught… a rice ball," Ash said speechlessly, holding the empty Poké Ball. The Mankey's unfinished rice ball was still sitting on top of it.

"Ash, this Mankey has an unexpectedly fiery temper," Red said with a slight tease. Seeing signs of the Mankey attacking, he threw his own Poké Ball, releasing Hitmonchan.

"Hitmonchan, use Mach Punch!" Red commanded.

Hitmonchan swung its fists to warm up, then punched with lightning speed, hitting the Mankey right in the face and knocking it to the ground.

"That was quite a blow!" Ash exclaimed in surprise.

"Screech—!"

The fallen Mankey got up again, glaring furiously at the Hitmonchan in front of it. Its small body inexplicably swelled with muscle, looking quite terrifying.

"Could this Mankey's ability be…?" Red used his internal system to check its data.

Pokémon: Mankey

Type: Fighting

Ability: Anger Point (When hit by a critical hit, its Attack is raised to the maximum stage.)

Moves: Fury Swipes, Glare, Focus Energy, Seismic Toss, Cross Chop…

Nature: Easily angered, will fly into a rage over trivial matters.

Experience: A lone wolf of the pack, often dwelling here to await travelers' handouts, but also scares them away with his minor tantrums. He is the Primeape Ash is destined to obtain.

"Anger Point? What a terrifying ability," Red said with slight caution. "Hitmonchan, use Ice Punch. Let this Mankey cool down."

"Chan!"

Hitmonchan's chilling right fist struck toward the Mankey. The enraged Mankey didn't dodge, instead charging forward and using Fury Swipes.

"Mach Punch, then Ice Punch!" Red commanded.

Hitmonchan's left fist led with a Mach Punch, swiftly hitting the Mankey's body, followed by the chilling energy from its right fist, which hit its head and froze it.

"Big bro, isn't this the Pokémon I'm supposed to catch? Don't cripple the Mankey!" Ash complained, afraid that Red might accidentally throw a Poké Ball and capture it for himself.

"Don't worry, Ash. Do you think I would do something like that?" Red flicked Ash's forehead, speechless. He had been so good to his silly younger brother, and he dared to say such words to hurt his vulnerable heart. It was simply too much.

"That was just subconscious…" Ash said awkwardly, intending to throw his Poké Ball to try and catch the Mankey again.

Unexpectedly, an accident occurred. The enraged Mankey shattered the ice on its head, angrily kicked away the Poké Ball Ash threw, and amidst a series of furious shouts, its body emitted a brilliant light of evolution.

"Mankey actually evolved!" Misty exclaimed in surprise.

"Mankey can evolve through an accumulation of anger when they have a certain level of strength. I can't believe that rumor is actually true!" Brock said in shock, watching as the Pokémon's body gradually transformed.

The white light dispersed, and a sturdy Primeape appeared before everyone. Its spherical body was covered in light yellow fur, and its limbs were now hairless and adorned with black rings. Its hands had become like boxing gloves, and its feet resembled human soles, but with only two toes. Its tail had disappeared, and it looked much stronger overall. Its eyes became smaller, turning into vertical slits, and its gaze was more ferocious, a cross-shaped vein constantly bulging on its forehead from pure rage.

"Primeape, the evolved form of Mankey. It is always angry. Once it sets its sights on you, it will pursue you until it can no longer stand," Ash's Pokédex explained as he once again looked up his opponent's data.

"Big bro, let Pikachu battle Primeape!" Ash spoke up, stopping Hitmonchan from acting and indicating that he and Pikachu could handle it themselves.

"Then do your best. Just don't let Primeape get fixated on you."

After speaking, Red used his psychic power to subtly influence Primeape's focus, turning its attention to Pikachu. No longer harboring animosity toward Hitmonchan, Primeape turned and lunged fiercely toward the small electric mouse.

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack!" Ash commanded.

Pikachu, using its speed advantage, first crashed into Primeape's body. The enraged Primeape immediately retaliated with Fury Swipes, wildly hitting Pikachu.

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"

High-voltage electricity was released from Pikachu's body, hitting Primeape head-on. Its body was scorched black from the current, faintly emitting a burnt smell.

"Ash, don't be too careless. Primeape's strength isn't that simple," Red reminded.

Primeape was seen desperately shaking its head, clearing its state. It then rushed in front of Pikachu, scaring it with a fierce Glare, and then crossed its arms to use Cross Chop. With its attack power boosted by the Anger Point ability, a single critical hit directly defeated Pikachu.

"How is that possible?! Just one move?!" Ash said incredulously. He had always trusted Pikachu's strength and couldn't believe it was defeated so instantly.

"That's why I told you not to be careless. If you can catch this Primeape, Ash, your team's strength will significantly improve," Red said. "But the prerequisite is that you can tame this enraged Primeape."

Seeing its enemy defeated, Primeape gradually stabilized its emotions, no longer as obviously angry as before. The calmed Fighting-type focused its gaze on the hat on Ash's head, clearly taking a liking to it.

"No, there's absolutely no way I'm giving you this hat!" Ash tried to stop it, but Primeape wasn't so easy to talk to. It rushed directly in front of him, snatched the hat, and didn't forget to kick Ash down when he tried to stop it.

"That Pokémon is really interested in Ash's hat," Misty said.

"You know, Primeape looks quite a bit like Ash with the hat on, especially when it mimics him throwing a Poké Ball," Brock quipped.

"What the heck, I would never do that!" Ash said, speechless.

"Damn it, I have to get it back!"

"It's just a hat. Why are you so serious? Be careful not to get beaten black and blue by Primeape," Misty warned.

"No, this hat is my treasure! It's a limited-edition hat from a Pokémon League tournament event, a birthday gift my big brother worked hard to get for me!" Ash shouted, vowing to reclaim his hat with his own hands.
