Chapter 429: Chapter 17: Cherrygrove City

After six grueling days of travel along Route 29, Ash and his friends finally reached Cherrygrove City, a picturesque coastal town nestled in the southeast corner of the Johto Region.

Known for its breathtaking scenery, the city served as the gateway between New Bark Town and Violet City.

While it lacked a Pokémon Gym, Cherrygrove's flower-covered hills, serene beaches, and vibrant streets made it a favorite destination for tourists and trainers alike.

"This place is beautiful!" Misty exclaimed, taking a deep breath of the fragrant air mingled with sea salt.

"It's almost as charming as the Orange Islands!"

Brock, meanwhile, was distracted by the sight of attractive women strolling the streets, his face turning dreamy.

"So many beautiful girls…" he murmured, practically floating away in a daydream.

Misty rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "Oh, come on, Brock. You'd think by now you'd learn some self-control."

Ash chuckled at their antics, his mind already planning their next steps. After locating the Pokémon Center on their map, the trio made their way there to register for lodging. With their rooms secured, they regrouped in the lobby to discuss their plans.

"Should we eat here or explore the city for lunch?" Ash asked, looking at his friends for input.

"I say we eat out!" Misty said eagerly. "When are we ever going to get another chance to try the local food?"

Ash nodded in agreement, glancing at Pikachu, who seemed equally excited by the idea. He also remembered he needed to sell the Big Nugget he'd won during their journey.

"Alright! Let's grab some food and maybe check out the shops while we're at it," he said, leading the way.

The bustling streets of Cherrygrove City welcomed them with open arms. Though not as crowded as some of Kanto's major cities, the lively atmosphere was infectious, with locals and visitors alike enjoying the vibrant surroundings.

Ash soon spotted a jewelry store and ducked inside, exchanging his Big Nugget for a tidy sum of 30,000 Poké Dollars.

While he knew it might have been worth more elsewhere, he was satisfied with the windfall.

"What about burgers?" Misty suggested as they resumed their stroll. Her stomach growled in agreement, and she blushed slightly. "It's been ages since we had any!"

"Sounds good to me!" Ash said, his own hunger urging him forward.

"I'm in," Brock added, always up for a good meal.

They eventually found a bustling burger joint that served mouthwatering food and settled in for a well-deserved feast.

After eating, they stretched and prepared to explore more of the city when a cheerful girl approached them, handing out colorful flyers.

"Hi there! Would you like one?" she asked, extending a flyer to Ash.

Curious, he took it, with Pikachu perched on his shoulder for a better view. Misty and Brock leaned in as Ash unfolded the paper.

It was an announcement for the annual Pokémon Performance Conference, a popular local event that would take place the following day at Walker's Paradise, a famous street in the heart of the city.

"What's the Pokémon Performance Conference?" Ash asked the girl.

"It's a celebration of the bond between trainers and their Pokémon!" she explained enthusiastically.

"Participants put on all kinds of creative performances, from dances to magic shows. It's a great way to have fun and show off your Pokémon's talents!"

"That sounds amazing!" Brock said, his eyes lighting up.

"We should definitely check it out tomorrow!" Ash declared, excitement evident in his voice.

"I'm all in," Misty agreed, holding Togepi closer. The little Pokémon cooed in delight, as if it too was looking forward to the event.

After lunch, the trio made their way to Walker's Paradise to see the preparations. The wide street was already bustling with performers and their Pokémon.

Stalls lined the walkway, offering everything from snacks to souvenirs, while small crowds gathered around to watch impromptu acts.

Ash, Misty, and Brock paused at one performance, where a Plusle and Minun duo danced energetically.

The twin Pokémon used their electric powers to create sparkling orbs in the air, which burst like colorful fireworks.

"Wow! They're incredible!" Ash said, captivated by the display.

"It's like a Contest, but the focus is purely on entertaining the audience," Misty observed, fascinated by the concept.

As they continued down the street, they encountered a group of Mankey performing synchronized flips and cheers.

Further along, an Alakazam demonstrated its psychic prowess, levitating objects and bending spoons with precise movements.

"This is amazing!" Ash exclaimed, unable to hide his excitement. "It's like a festival celebrating everything we love about Pokémon!"

"Exactly," Brock agreed, watching a Growlithe and its trainer perform a graceful fire dance routine.

"It's all about the connection between trainers and their Pokémon, not about winning or losing."

As the sun began to set, the city glowed with a warm, golden light. Walker's Paradise was alive with energy, and the anticipation for the following day's main event was palpable.

"This is going to be so much fun!" Misty said, already imagining the incredible performances they'd see.

Ash smiled, looking at Pikachu. "What do you think, buddy? Should we try something too?"

"Pika!" Pikachu nodded enthusiastically, sparks flying from its cheeks.

With the promise of adventure and new experiences awaiting them, Ash felt a renewed sense of excitement.

Cherrygrove City had already captured their hearts with its charm, and the Pokémon Performance Conference was sure to make their stay unforgettable.

For Ash and his friends, the journey was about more than battles—it was about the memories they made along the way.
