Pokémon Simulator: Stealing Opportunities from the Destiny Child

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Transformation

The Pokémon living on the outskirts of Misty Forest were all low-level.

Most of them were around level 10, with little battle experience or adaptability, not much different from the starter Pokémon of rookie trainers.

Thus, using them for Oddish's training was as easy as cutting through butter.

While the battles didn't offer much growth, they did help boost Oddish's confidence.

After defeating dozens of Flying-type Pokémon, Oddish gradually went from being terrified at the sight of Pidgey and Spearow to actively provoking them.

This change made Ethan feel quite relieved.

After nearly two hours of consecutive battles, Oddish finally broke through to level 31.

Once she reached level 32, she would be able to learn a game-changing move that would cement her place in Ethan's team—Grassy Terrain, the ultimate recovery move for the entire team.

It was a rare skill not all Oddish could learn.

Only those with an extraordinary affinity and talent for Grass-type energy could master it. Out of thousands of Oddish, only one might possess this ability.

And to top it off, Ethan's Oddish had a hidden ability.

To speed up her leveling, Ethan decided to venture deeper into the forest.

He had already encountered several Pokémon above level 10, including some group leaders over level 20.

[Oddish vs. Rattata (Lv. 13)]

One Energy Ball was enough to defeat it.

[Oddish vs. Geodude (Lv. 15)]

Seed Machine Gun quickly took it down.

[Oddish vs. Beedrill (Lv. 16)]

Beedrill attempted to clash head-on with Razor Leaf using Focus Energy and Fury Cutter, but it ultimately failed and was defeated by Oddish's sharp leaves.

[Oddish vs. Zubat (Lv. 15)]

Though not particularly strong, Zubat's Supersonic was troublesome, causing Oddish to become confused.

After several seconds of struggle, she finally snapped out of the confusion and, with Ethan's guidance, used Hidden Power (Rock) to defeat Zubat.

[Oddish vs. Pidgeotto (Lv. 22)]

Now, this Pidgeotto was a genuine threat to Oddish.

With its superior speed and strength, Pidgeotto nearly closed the nine-level gap. It launched counterattacks with Gust and Quick Attack.

Only after being hit by Oddish's Razor Leaf, leaving a wound on its wing, did Pidgeotto realize how formidable this seemingly weak opponent was.

So, it began flying in the air, continuously using Gust to drain Oddish's stamina.

Oddish fought back with Razor Leaf.

Both sides exchanged blows for over ten rounds.

Oddish began panting heavily, struggling to stay on her feet.

Seeing this, Pidgeotto's eyes lit up. It used Quick Attack followed by Wing Attack, intending to finish Oddish in one move.

But it hadn't expected Oddish to have been continuously restoring her stamina with Synthesis throughout the battle.

As long as Pidgeotto didn't take her down in one hit, she could maintain full health no matter how much energy was consumed.

Her earlier weakness was merely a trick to lure her opponent in.

When Oddish had fully charged an Energy Ball, Pidgeotto finally realized it had fallen into a trap.

As it tried to dodge, the momentum from its high-speed dive left it unable to pull up in time.

In that brief moment of despair, the powerful Energy Ball hit Pidgeotto square in the head.

With a loud boom, Pidgeotto let out a shrill cry before crashing heavily to the ground, losing its ability to fight.

Oddish proudly let out a triumphant cry.

Defeating such a strong opponent felt far more satisfying than facing the weaker ones earlier.

Even Gastly, hiding in Ethan's shadow, couldn't help but be impressed.

It had thought Oddish was just a tiny, unremarkable Pokémon. Who would've guessed her strength was so formidable?

After dozens of battles, Oddish's combat experience had grown considerably.

She even learned how to use her energy field to suppress weaker Pokémon, instilling fear before the fight even began.

However, this tactic became much less effective when facing Pokémon above level 20.

Ethan quietly watched as Oddish happily chatted with Gastly, then glanced at the fainted Pidgeotto nearby.

He sighed softly.

Still too hesitant.

Not ruthless enough.

Poor accuracy.

No sense of finishing moves.

Compared to her future self in his past life, this Oddish was still too immature—or perhaps too gentle.

But considering it had only been a week, expecting her to completely transform was wishful thinking.

Unless…

He could put Oddish through a true crisis.
