Chapter 141: The Story of the Wave-Guiding King

Hikaru was completely unaware of the commotion taking place at the Hayashi household. At that moment, he sat in his "home," holding a Pokémon Summoning Card. All his Pokémon were gathered around him.

The card had been bound to that elusive Ralts. For days, Hikaru hadn't told any new stories, all in anticipation of Ralts' arrival.

"Could something have happened to it?" Hikaru pondered as he held the card, feeling a faint connection to the distant Pokémon. Though the card didn't reveal its exact location, it provided a general sense of direction.

"It's so far away?" Hikaru's brows furrowed. The Ralts was several thousand kilometers away—far too far for such a small Pokémon to traverse on its own.

"Sana?" (That little one hasn't come in a while?)

Gardevoir, ever the thoughtful one, tilted her head in concern. She was used to everyone gathering for Hikaru's nightly storytelling, with the Ralts being a punctual and eager listener. But now, the absence was growing noticeable.

"Hmm, maybe it got delayed by something," Hikaru replied without much concern.

"Are we still having storytime tonight?" Latias, in her human form, sat eagerly on a small bench she had moved closer, her golden eyes full of expectation.

"Yes, we'll have storytime. But first, let's see if this little one is still coming back," Hikaru said as he focused on the Summoning Card.

The card began to disintegrate into nothingness in his hand.

"Come on, show me what kind of mythical Pokémon you are!"

A few days prior.

In the dense forests of the Qinling Mountains, a small pink figure sneezed delicately. A blush crept over Mew's cheeks as it hovered, visibly unwell. The mythical Pokémon was feverish and unsteady in its flight.

"Mew…" It grumbled softly. A small orb of glowing green liquid, encased in psychic energy, floated beside it. The liquid emitted a life-giving aura—an unmistakable sign of its potency. It was at least an S-grade treasure.

Mew carefully guided the liquid toward a massive, ancient tree that towered above the forest. This wasn't just any tree; its rocky, vine-covered exterior housed an ecosystem of ancient Pokémon, including Aerodactyl.

It was the World Tree.

With a sigh, Mew entered the tree, delivering the liquid. Moments later, it emerged, looking slightly better but still unwell.

"Mew…" (I haven't heard a good story in so long…) Mew pouted as it looked at the glowing tree. Though the treasure had helped, the World Tree wasn't fully healed.

The World Tree wasn't just connected to Mew—it was the lifeblood of the entire region's Pokémon ecosystem. If the tree fell into a deep slumber, Mew would also succumb. The surrounding forest's rich vitality would dwindle, threatening the Pokémon living there.

The last major damage to the tree hadn't been fully repaired. Mew thought back to that time when a wave-guiding human had appeared to aid it, collecting treasures to save the tree.

This time, it had to rely on itself.

Waveguide Town.

This small settlement on the northeastern border of Hua Country was named after a legendary figure who once wielded the mysterious Aura Force.

Over a decade ago, a gifted Pokémon Trainer from this town rose to fame. He became the champion of the National High School Pokémon League and then, within a year, claimed victory in the Youth League.

It was during his battles that he demonstrated an extraordinary power—a seemingly prophetic ability to predict his opponents' moves. His Lucario, even when blindfolded, fought with unparalleled precision.

He called this ability Aura Force—the power to sense and connect with all living things.

By the age of 25, this Trainer had ascended to the rank of a Pokémon Master. He was poised to challenge national gyms and compete in the World Pokémon Championship.

But just as he stood at the pinnacle, the Trainer vanished.

It was as though a brilliant comet had streaked across the sky, only to disappear without a trace. Despite extensive searches by the Pokémon League, he was officially declared missing.

Waveguide Town, once famous because of him, began to fade into obscurity. Now, it was little more than a nostalgic tale for locals.

In the local Treasure Guild, Mew—hidden from sight—floated about curiously. It peered at the shelves and poked through the wares, but nothing seemed suitable for the World Tree's needs.

"Mew…" (The treasures here are so disappointing…)

Frustrated, Mew sighed and listened to two Trainers chatting nearby.

"Man, it's such a shame that Waveguide Town only had one Aura Guardian. Traffic here's been dropping off for years."

"Yeah, even though we've got that SS-grade Mystery Zone nearby, the Pokémon inside are just too strong! Every year, some Trainer thinks they can handle it, hoping to unlock the secret of Aura Force."

"Did you hear? Another group of Trainers went missing in the Mystery Zone…"

Intrigued, Mew perked up its ears. It loved hearing stories like these.

"Too bad the original Aura Guardian didn't explain how he got his powers. He's been missing for over ten years now."

"Mew!" (I know!) Mew suddenly revealed itself in its excitement.

"Mew!" (The Aura Guardian was granted his powers by the World Tree—it recognized him!)

The sudden appearance of the mythical Pokémon startled the two Trainers, one of whom let out a sharp expletive.

"Wha—whose Pokémon is that? Where did it come from?!"

The commotion drew the attention of everyone in the Treasure Guild. All eyes turned to Mew, who quickly realized its mistake.

"Mew…" (Oops.) Embarrassed, Mew vanished from sight and floated out of the guild. If there were no treasures here, it had to keep looking.

"Was that… a new Pokémon? Have we just discovered a new species?!" one of the Trainers exclaimed.

"Damn it, I missed my chance to catch it…"

Meanwhile, in a dimly lit corner of the guild, two figures exchanged knowing glances.

"It's here. Mew is here…"
