The Salazzle went flying through the air in a golden blur, crashing directly into its Trainer before both slammed into the stone gate with tremendous force.
"BOOM!" The entire gate structure shuddered from the impact.
As they slid down the stone surface, neither Pokémon nor Trainer had technically fainted. Unlike the Pokémon with its eyes rolling, the Trainer was foaming at the mouth.
Tupp, Zipp, and Rapp looked at Chris with terror in their eyes.
Then they turned tail and ran.
"Intruder in the base! Come quickly!" the three shouted as they fled, inadvertently helping Chris by opening the previously locked gate in their panic.
Chris walked forward slowly with an umbrella in one hand. He bent down and retrieved a Totem Sticker from the pocket of the defeated Team Skull gate guard.
"This definitely isn't a coincidence!" Chris thought, happily adding the sticker to his collection.
Walking through the entrance into Po Town, the scene unfolded before him.
Shards of broken glass littered the rain-slicked streets while a gust of wind sent a year-old newspaper tumbling across the ground. Crooked street lamps flickered ominously, creating an unsettling atmosphere. Abandoned cars positioned haphazardly and bizarre graffiti covering nearly every surface completed the uniquely eerie scenery of Po Town.
Remarkably, each of the town's buildings was actually a villa.
It made sense when you considered that this used to be Ula'ula Island's most affluent district.
Members of Team Skull poked their heads out from various villas to investigate the commotion. Several approached the street, releasing their Pokémon and glaring at Chris, ready to attack at any moment.
"Thirteen of them..." Chris surveyed all the Team Skull members present and the Pokémon they had summoned.
Salazzle LV54
Muk LV55
Toxapex LV53
Seeing these levels, Chris dismissed these opponents as real threats. In his eyes, the Team Skull members were no longer Trainers or Rivals—they were walking Totem Stickers.
"That's thirteen Totem Stickers. Add one more, that's 85. Add another 15, and I can get the Totem Kommo-o!" Chris's eyes gleamed as he raised his hand and threw a Poké Ball.
"Greninja, Surf!"
The Poké Ball burst open, and Greninja landed, slamming both hands against the ground.
Suddenly, a massive blue wave rose up behind it, towering ten meters high—taller than many of the villas and nearly reaching the height of the stone walls surrounding Po Town.
"Attack! Block the waves with Ice-type Pokémon!"
"Run and find the boss! We can't withstand this move!"
As the enormous wave approached, some Team Skull members thought they could freeze it with Ice-type moves, while others realized resistance was futile and opted to flee.
However, regardless of their choice, the outcome remained the same.
Against the unstoppable deluge, all resistance proved meaningless. Those attempting to escape quickly discovered their speed was no match for the rapidly engulfing waters.
With a thunderous roar, dilapidated villas collapsed one after another as the wave crashed through!
Meanwhile, Chris watched as defeat notifications began popping up in rapid succession.
[Defeated Salazzle LV54, Greninja gained 2712 EXP, Arcanine with Exp. Share gained 2811 EXP]
[Defeated Muk LV55, Greninja gained 2834 EXP, Arcanine with Exp. Share gained 3007 EXP]
[Arcanine leveled up! Current level: 57]
When the massive wave finally subsided, everything within 300 meters lay in ruins—not a single villa remained standing. Only a Pokémon Center at the far end of the area had somehow survived.
Chris suspected it wasn't an official Pokémon Center but rather one that exclusively served Team Skull.
The number of Pokémon defeated by the Surf attack had reached at least thirty.
This was far more efficient than defeating them in individual battles!
The experience gained was delicious, simply delicious~
"Gardevoir, retrieve those Totem Stickers," Chris said, releasing another Poké Ball.
Gardevoir materialized and immediately used Psychic to scan the area affected by Surf, particularly focusing on the unconscious Team Skull members.
Within moments, more than a dozen Totem Stickers flew out from the pockets and bags of the defeated Team Skull members, floating through the air before settling into Chris's outstretched hand.
"One, two, three..." Chris counted each one carefully.
When the final sticker was secured, his total had reached exactly 85.
"So each Team Skull member drops exactly one!" Chris concluded, having identified the pattern.
Excellent! Now... are there any more Team Skull members around?
Looking into the distance, Chris spotted three surviving Team Skull grunts running toward the last standing building in Po Town.
Well, might as well not let Rapp, Zipp, and Tupp escape.
"Eighty-eight," Chris muttered.
The three fleeing Team Skull members were suddenly seized by an invisible force, lifted into the air, and rapidly pulled toward Chris's position.
It was Gardevoir using Psychic.
"SLASH!" A dark blade of energy suddenly flashed through the air.
The psychic connection was severed instantly.
It was a Bisharp with blades gleaming like polished steel!
Beside Bisharp stood a woman with half-purple, half-bright yellow hair. She raised her head, looking down her nose at Chris with undisguised contempt.
"Those guys might be idiots, but that doesn't mean anyone can push them around!"
"Big sis Plumeria!!!" The three rescued Team Skull members looked at the woman with tears in their eyes, as if they'd just witnessed their salvation.
"Go and get the boss!" the woman turned impatiently and commanded.
"Yes, ma'am!" The three Team Skull grunts scrambled away immediately.
Chris didn't pursue them. He was wondering—if this was a Team Skull Executive, would she be carrying more Totem Stickers?
The woman before him was Plumeria, the sole Executive of Team Skull and the organization's big sister figure.
He assessed her Bisharp.
LV65.
Not exceptionally high-leveled, but a worthy opponent for his Arcanine.
Without hesitation, Chris pointed at the Bisharp. "Arcanine, Flare Blitz!"
"WOOF!" Even in the pouring rain, Arcanine was extraordinarily energetic. Golden flames engulfed its entire body, with barely perceptible sparks of electricity—difficult to distinguish from the flames themselves—dancing across its fur.
The majestic fire Pokémon took two steps forward, its claws digging into the wet ground as it prepared to launch itself forward like a rising sun.
