Thump! Thump! Thump!

Five consecutive sounds of darts striking the steel plate echoed through the air.

Pinsir was driven back repeatedly, but it gritted its teeth and stubbornly withstood the assault. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on Pinsir's side today.

Greninja's Kings Rock activated its flinch effect, instantly forcing Pinsir into a Flinched state. Its body seemed paralyzed, unable to move as the surrounding Whirlpool engulfed it completely. When the vortex finally collapsed, Greninja gracefully returned to Chris's side while Pinsir lay defeated, no longer able to battle.

Despite Pinsir's excellent defensive capabilities, its stamina had proven insufficient for this challenge.

Guzma couldn't help but hold his breath. Even from this preliminary battle, he could already see Chris's terrifying combat prowess!

"Where did this strength come from?!" Guzma muttered through gritted teeth. In his assessment, Chris was definitely not weaker than any of the Island Kahunas.

"Next," Chris commanded, the effects of Power Trip evident in his tone.

Guzma threw another Poké Ball.

This time, he sent out Vikavolt—a flying insect with slender mouthparts resembling a spaceship. Though blessed with formidable Special Attack power, its speed was notably slower. Chris had actually considered training one himself.

Guzma's strategy was clear: use Vikavolt's Electric-type attacks to counter Greninja.

"Thunder!" Guzma shouted.

Vikavolt immediately discharged a powerful lightning bolt from its sharp mandibles, aiming directly at the airborne target.

Chris had anticipated exactly this move.

Without hesitation, he recalled Greninja and sent out Garchomp instead.

"BOOM!"

A thunderbolt as thick as a bucket engulfed everything in front of Chris.

"Gaaar!" Garchomp, bathed in electrical light, seemed almost comfortable, as if enjoying a pleasant shower.

Guzma didn't substitute Pokémon. With Vikavolt's Levitate ability, he had no reason to fear. Instead, he pulled out his Bug-type Z-Crystal and attached it to his Z-Ring.

"Vikavolt, Z-Move: Savage Spin-Out!"

Guzma extended his arms in the pose of a hunting mantis. In response, Vikavolt shot thick white silk threads from its mouth, binding Garchomp and yanking it higher into the air.

The two sparks behind Vikavolt pulsed with energy. Using its mouthparts like a sharp sword wrapped in pale green light, Vikavolt charged toward the trapped Garchomp.

"A Z-Move based on X-Scissor?" Chris raised his hand calmly.

"Garchomp, Mega Evolution! Dragon Claw!"

Multicolored rays of light erupted from Garchomp's body. Even bound by silk threads, it immediately evolved under the brilliant light, and the violent dragon energy instantly shredded the constraining threads.

A pair of scythe-like appendages resembling crescent moons appeared, coated with a layer of dark green energy, and slashed downward through the air!

"Zzzzzz!"

When the blood-red scythes collided with Vikavolt's sharp mandibles, it was like two legendary weapons clashing, spraying countless embers into the air.

Yet this seemingly violent collision lasted only a second.

BOOM!

Mega Garchomp smashed Vikavolt directly into the ground. The Bug-type didn't rise again, instantly losing its ability to battle!

Against Mega Garchomp's terrifying physical attack power, without matching offensive or defensive capabilities—or the endurance and type resistance to withstand Dragon-type moves—instant defeat was inevitable.

"GRRAAAAH!" Mega Garchomp let out a low growl; the fragile opponent before it hadn't provided any satisfaction!

Guzma's breath caught in his throat.

A Mega Garchomp?

So powerful!

Guzma was absolutely certain that the trainer before him had surpassed Alola's Island Kahunas in strength!

Unless the Island Guardians themselves intervened, no one could defeat him!

"Any more? If not, surrender now!" Chris declared loudly.

Mega Garchomp's eyes glowed with battle lust, its twin blood-red scythes poised to strike again.

"It can't end like this!" Guzma roared. Hadn't he established Team Skull to overthrow the rule of Island Kahunas and Trial Captains?

How could he be so easily and utterly defeated here?

Guzma threw two Poké Balls simultaneously.

Scizor and Golisopod appeared, both at level 70.

Red armor and white armor glistened in the rain—the pinnacle offensive and defensive Pokémon of the Bug type standing like Guzma's left and right guardians.

"First Impression!"

Scizor moved first. The red armor on its body created slight drag, but its raw power still enabled swift movement.

Leaving a footprint in the mud, the red-armored Pokémon became a swift shadow piercing through the rainy sky, its pincers wrapped in sharp, cold light as it lunged straight for Garchomp's head.

In the games, First Impression can only be used on the first turn after a Pokémon enters battle and has high priority—a guaranteed first strike similar to Fake Out, though Fake Out has slightly higher priority.

But reality wasn't bound by game mechanics!

Chris didn't hesitate. Mega Garchomp had already raised its arm to deliver Dragon Claw, very similar to Fire Punch in the games, except the flames were dark green!

"CLANG!" Scizor, upon impact, was immediately knocked back several steps.

Yet as Scizor was repelled, a white figure suddenly appeared behind it—Golisopod, also using First Impression. Its attack launched slower than Scizor's, creating a sequential assault.

"Dragon Dance!" Chris commanded, lowering his hand slightly. If the first First Impression couldn't connect, how could the second?

Facing Golisopod's attack from behind, Mega Garchomp stepped back lightly, turning gracefully to avoid the strike. It moved with dance-like elegance, completing its rotation and, using the momentum of its turn, slashed with Dragon Claw at Golisopod.

"Protect!" Guzma shouted.

Golisopod immediately raised both arms before its chest, using its bone-like armor as a shield while the invisible barrier of Protect spread around it.

"That won't hold," Chris chuckled.

Mega Garchomp's scarlet scythe cleaved straight through the shield, gouging deep into Golisopod's protective exoskeleton.

"CRACK!" The armor shattered.

The defense-lowering effect of Garchomp's Dragon Fang activated.

In an instant, the seemingly mighty warrior and its formidable body were sent flying toward the distant ruins of the villa by Mega Garchomp's blood-red scythe.

Golisopod couldn't wake up again.
