"Clang!"

The metallic sound rang sharply as Sharpedo's teeth clamped down on the white blade in Greninja's hand.

In that critical moment, Greninja had used Cut.

But Sharpedo's strength far exceeded Greninja's, and it immediately forced the water Pokemon backward, slamming him directly into the wall.

A muffled "Boom" echoed through the room.

Greninja didn't disappear after crashing into the wall.

This revealed that the Greninja being attacked by Sharpedo wasn't a Substitute, but the real one!

Chris had no way of knowing how Archie could instantly tell the difference between Greninja's real body and its Substitute.

However, now wasn't the time to ponder this mystery.

Sharpedo's control over Ice-type moves was extremely powerful. The frigid air emanating from its Ice Fang had already frozen the white blade that Greninja had created through "Secret Cut." The ice was rapidly spreading toward Greninja's arm.

If Greninja's arm became frozen, its attacks would inevitably slow down. And if its entire body froze, Sharpedo's next strike could deliver the finishing blow!

"Vacuum Wave!" Chris commanded immediately.

The order was directed at Greninja's Substitute.

The Substitute instantly reached out with its right hand and launched a light blue shock wave toward Sharpedo.

Greninja's mastery of aura energy wasn't sufficient to use Aura Sphere, but its Vacuum Wave had become extremely proficient!

"Aqua Jet!" Archie raised his hand to command, showing curiosity that Greninja, a Dark-type Pokemon, had also mastered Fighting-type moves. Initially, he had planned to resist the Substitute's attack and finish off the real Greninja.

Sharpedo immediately erupted with light blue water, but instead of attacking Greninja head-on, it angled downward to avoid the Vacuum Wave's attack.

It was still able to strike at Greninja's legs.

Even without freezing them, damaging Greninja's legs would achieve the same result!

"Bounce!" Chris commanded without hesitation.

The moment Greninja broke free from Sharpedo's grip, his legs instantly exerted force, propelling his body high into the air.

This maneuver allowed him to dodge both Sharpedo's Aqua Jet and his own Substitute's Vacuum Wave. After Sharpedo evaded, Greninja's body became the target directly in the path of the Vacuum Wave!

But just when Chris thought Greninja was out of danger, a sudden "rumbling" sound erupted from the battlefield below.

A powerful stream of water shot up from the ground! It was like a spike that had materialized out of nowhere, aiming to skewer Greninja.

Witnessing this, Chris's eyelid twitched.

I'm still too inexperienced! he thought.

What Sharpedo had used wasn't Aqua Jet but "Water Pledge"!

Archie had been deceiving him.

He'd commanded his Pokemon to use Aqua Jet, but Sharpedo had actually used Water Pledge!

When a Trainer calls out one move, but their Pokemon uses another to catch opponents by surprise—this was truly an extraordinary tactic.

In their current situation, it had a devastatingly effective result!

Fortunately, though, all wasn't lost!

Facing the torrent of water surging up from below, Greninja immediately directed his Substitute to fly toward the point of impact, using it as a shield to block the "blade" with its body!

"Aqua Jet!" Archie commanded, raising his hand.

Sharpedo attacked again, moving so swiftly that to Chris, it appeared as a flash of azure light. Though he could react mentally, it was too late to issue commands.

As time passed, Sharpedo grew faster and faster under the effect of its "Speed Boost" Ability.

Greninja possessed the speed to keep pace with Sharpedo's movements, but as a Trainer—especially in a disadvantaged position—it was increasingly difficult for Chris to provide timely help and commands.

From the current situation, Chris quickly analyzed that Archie's Water Pledge hadn't targeted the real Greninja, but rather the Substitute!

His strategy was to destroy the Substitute first, then "chomp" down on the real Greninja with Ice Fang if there was no interference!

Greninja had barely landed when Sharpedo appeared right in front of him.

Greninja's reactions remained lightning-fast. To survive, he sliced off part of his own tail, sacrificing some physical strength to create another Substitute. This allowed Sharpedo's Crunch to miss while Greninja positioned himself facing Chris.

Faced with continuous disadvantages, he needed to end this round and rethink his subsequent strategy.

After tearing apart the Substitute, Sharpedo gazed at Greninja with dissatisfaction. Yet it didn't attack immediately, instead returning to Archie's side.

This round of combat ended with Greninja paying the cost of two Substitutes and suffering an injury to his back.

Meanwhile, Sharpedo, even though its Speed Boost Ability didn't create a gap due to Greninja's "Role Play" move, still maintained the advantage of having used "Agility" once!

"You're a clever man, but the gap between us is already obvious. Do you want to continue?" Archie looked down at Chris with the arrogance of someone who already considered himself the victor.

The battle wasn't over yet, but to him, it might as well have been.

Chris didn't answer. His eyes remained fixed on Greninja.

Greninja was panting heavily, his heart racing. The recent combat had drained him considerably, but simultaneously ignited his fighting spirit. The cells in his body were activated, and his determination burned brightly.

"It's still close... I just need some stimulation," Chris murmured as he reached out and took a crystal, pressing it against the artificially enhanced device on his wrist.

"Greninja, Z-Move, Black Hole Eclipse!"

A streak of glossy black light burst forth from Chris's body, condensing into a pillar that descended upon Greninja!

"Crack!" Greninja's eyes flashed brilliantly as he spread his arms wide. A small black sphere materialized before him, rapidly expanding in just one breath. It rose skyward, generating a violent "pulling force" as if the black hole's tendrils were absorbing everything around them!

Even the light in the room was drawn in, darkening the entire space.

"A Z-Move? The power from the Alola Region? Quite interesting. I'll have to visit there when I have the chance." Looking at the black hole, Archie smiled faintly and raised his arm to reveal his watch.

The watch face opened to reveal three Key Stones!

"Sharpedo, MEGA Evolve!"
