Pokemon: The Breeding House

Chapter 81: Summer

With the end of spring and the arrival of summer, the vegetables and fruits that Carver and the Pokémon had planted together in the breeding house backyard had finally ripened.

Under the careful care of Oddish, Bulbasaur, Clefairy, and Castform, these vegetables and fruits had grown perfectly.

The fields were lush green and delightful to see. The fruit trees' branches were laden with large, round berries, and adorable Pokémon were chasing and playing among the crop rows.

Carver crossed his arms, looking at this scene, and smiled at Bewear beside him:

"Now we don't have to worry about not having enough vegetables and berries to eat."

Bewear also looked very happy: "Bewear~!"

With these vegetables, Bewear Inn could unlock more cooking menus to serve passing guests.

Since pleasing Pokémon could earn rewards, and pleasing humans could also earn rewards, he'd focus on both. Maybe someday he'd get a pleasant surprise.

However, what made Carver even happier was that the medicinal herbs he'd planted in the herb garden had finally grown.

As a breeder, identifying herbs and making potions was very important work.

Whether it was the healing potions sold in friendly shops, or medicines that cured status conditions like burn heal, antidotes, paralyze heal, and so on, they were all made from herbs.

Besides that, there were even some very special potions.

For instance, preventing Pokémon from shedding fur, preventing baldness, promoting metabolism, removing scars, and similar effects.

Of course, there were also some special potions.

Like temporarily boosting Pokémon's strength, speed, focus, and so on.

These potions were similar to the stimulants used by athletes in Carver's previous life.

Similarly, when conducting Pokémon battles in this world, such potions were strictly prohibited.

With crops mature, it was harvest time!

Carver called all the Pokémon in the breeding house to help.

Bewear, Growlithe, Oddish, Chingling, Castform, Bagon, the Clefairy, Gastly, Bulbasaur.

Seeing this scene, Chansey and the others also came forward to help.

Carver stood before the group of Pokémon, explaining how to harvest vegetables and herbs, and where to store them after harvesting.

Pokémon were very intelligent creatures. They could even master difficult moves, so this kind of work was very easy for them.

Soon, Bewear, the Clefairy, and Chansey got busy.

Chingling, Gastly, Oddish, and Castform—Pokémon without hands—served as the cheer squad.

Bulbasaur waved its vines to pick herbs while showing off to Gastly.

"Bulba bulba!"

Look how amazing it was! It could help Carver do this!

"Gastly!"

Gastly wasn't to be outdone and actively floated forward. Although it had no hands or vines, it still had its mouth!

Gastly bit down on an herb, but before the herb could be pulled out, the stem was directly bitten through.

"Gastly?!"

Gastly was shocked.

The next second, bitter herb juice filled its mouth.

"Gastly—!"

Gastly made retching motions and hurriedly spat out the juice.

"Bulba~!"

Bulbasaur laughed heartlessly nearby.

The other Pokémon around also couldn't help but find this amusing.

Even Ralts, Ditto, and Abra—the Pokémon with psychological trauma—couldn't help but be infected by this lively scene, unconsciously showing smiles on their faces.

For a moment, the air was filled with a joyful atmosphere.

Carver face-palmed. He helplessly sighed, then turned back to the breeding house to get a candy for Gastly.

Gastly popped the candy in its mouth, and the bitterness was instantly dispelled, replaced by a sweet taste.

"Gastly~!"

Gastly let out a long sigh of relief. Carver was so good to it!

Pokémon had different personalities and habits, which led to great differences in their behavior.

For example, Bulbasaur, who carefully tended crops daily, would cautiously pull herbs and vegetables up by their roots when harvesting, never damaging complete vegetables.

But Bagon, who only knew training and pursuing strength, roughly used its dragon claws.

How could fragile vegetables withstand a Dragon Pokémon's strength?

This resulted in almost none of the vegetables it picked being intact.

Carver: "..."

It was truly a pitiful sight.

After a morning of chaos, all the vegetables and herbs in the entire backyard were finally harvested.

The breeding house was filled with baskets of berries and fresh vegetables.

Looking at the fruits of his and the Pokémon's hard work, Carver felt incredibly satisfied.

He looked at the Pokémon before him and said: "Tonight, I'll make you all a vegetable and fruit feast!"

Although the Pokémon didn't understand what that was, they could sense the happiness and satisfaction in Carver's tone.

So they also cheered happily.

"Bewear~!"

"Gastly!"

"Growl!"

Carver smiled at this scene. Having these Pokémon around was wonderful!

That evening, he fulfilled his promise.

Worth mentioning was that Chansey, Ralts, and the others were also invited by Carver to share dinner together.

Using the vegetables and fruits picked that day, he prepared an incredibly abundant feast in the breeding house.

Tender, flavorful white radish stew with meat, sweet and delicious Pokéblocks, nutritious and healthy vegetable salad, colorful berry platters, soft and sweet roasted sweet potatoes—Carver cooked personally while two chef Clefairy served as assistants.

As dish after dish was brought out by the server Clefairy, the Pokémon outside gave very supportive cries of delight.

"These guys are quite cooperative!" Carver said with a laugh.

"Clefairy~"

The two Clefairy were also very happy hearing everyone's voices.

Just then, footsteps suddenly came from outside the kitchen.

Carver turned to look and saw Chansey walking in with a blissful smile.

Carver raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised: "What's wrong, Chansey?"

"Lucky..."

Chansey's expression was unprecedentedly gentle.

It looked at Carver before it. At this moment, it really wanted to say something.

It was very happy today.

Everyone's faces hadn't shown smiles for a long time.

But today, Ralts and the others seemed to have emerged from that shadow, happily picking berries with everyone as if it were the most natural thing.

Chansey was very grateful to Carver.

But currently, there was nothing it could do to help Carver.

All it could use to show gratitude was this thing.

Chansey took the egg from its abdominal pouch, then held it with both hands and gently offered it to Carver.

"Lucky~!"
