Chapter 11: Fateful Meeting - 2
Creeeeeeaaaaakkkkkkkk...
"Damn. Who thought that using Pokémon to induce rusting, make them vandalize the place, and make it seem that it was in a state of disrepair would get these results?"
"Oi. Oi. Help me out here. We need to get the door open, or the boss will have our hides."
"Yeah, yeah."
Two men are trying to open the rusted iron door that leads somewhere.
"Man, the flooring is shit."
"Well, it has to be. After all, we had poison and water Pokémon induce rot in the wooden floor."
"No wonder the footing is bad."
"You got that door open? You have been tugging at it for some time, and it has only moved a few inches."
"Well, you should also pull harder!"
"You know, you should keep a cool head to think of a solution."
"Any other piece of advice, genius?"
"Hmm, did you use machine oil to lubricate the joint?"
"..."
"..."
"...We are idiots. You have one?"
"No. I think there should be a can of it in the shed. Let's check it out."
The two men then walked out of a large yet poorly maintained farmhouse that had seen better days and into a small shed attached to the house.
The shed was filled with a variety of tools, so they began searching.
"Hey. Can I ask something?"
"Why do you want to ask?"
"It's boring to search through this much stuff. Do you know what happened to the elderly couple that used to live here?"
"Do you want to know?"
"Yes. I mean, how bad can it be?"
sigh... "After they had been falsely convicted, they received a heavy fine for it. As they were too old, they were taken to court to repeal the fine. Boss, being his "kind" self, had them dead by making their death seem like an accident. Oh, I got it here. Let's go."
Wincing, the first man followed his partner.
"That's messed up."
"This is reality, and did you want to have the old couple get harassed for something we did?"
"No... but"
"No buts. Get your legs moving. We are wasting time as it is."
After they had reached the door, they applied machine oil in the required joints and started to move the door slowly.
They worked in silence.
Crreeeaaakk...
Finally, the door opened to reveal...
Shelves filled with rows of eggs.
Pokémon eggs.
Both men were stunned at the sight.
The first man said, "Woah..."
The second one said, "Yeah..."
"There are so many eggs! We could..."
"...sell them in the black market to rich people or breeders at a high price. We cannot take them for ourselves. The Boss wants to turn it into real estate and sell it to the highest bidder."
"So, that is why we..."
"There is no time to cry about it. We need to get them into the truck asap."
"What if the Pokémon League finds out about our sabotage?"
"No worries. The one who sold it to the boss and the one who inspected it owed a debt to the boss and were on his payroll. They will never suspect it. Start getting them into the truck."
They started loading the eggs into the truck one by one.
"They all have dates when they were brought in?"
"Huh. That makes it easier to dispose of the duds."
They checked and found that the eggs were recent.
Well, most of them, at least.
The first man found an old dusty incubator.
"Hey, check it out. It's an incubator. It looks pretty old, too. Its date is from the..."
"Why did you stop? What is it?"
"...the incident."
The first man finished with a hollow voice.
"Shit. That is a dud. The Pokémon's as good as dead."
An uncomfortable silence enveloped the room.
The second man said, "Let's dump this one near here. Nobody will know. This place is near both Viridian City and Pallet Town. Let's go."
"Okay."
Both of them took it off the pedestal, not seeing the red light on the dust-covered panel that just blinked out of power.
Boarding the truck, none of them noticed the egg moving slightly sometimes.
Parking in an open field, they got out of their truck and took the egg out of its incubator, and set it on the field.
Shifting nervously, the first man asked, "What are you going to do with it?"
Grinning evilly, the second one responded, "Kick it. It's a dud. There is going to be no harm done."
Raising his leg back, he nearly missed the light of hatching, but did he care about it in his heart to stop?
After seeing that the egg had hatched into a Pichu, he kicked it hard after it had seen him, and it started to call out its species name.
"PICHUUUUU..."
Horrified, the first one looked at the second man and asked, "Why did you kick it after it had hatched?!!"
Scoffing, the second one replied, "Do you think a Pichu of all Pokémon will not have any negative effects after that incident? It spent so much time trying to survive in its egg that it must have lost its ability to use electricity. Even if it could, it would be weak, and Pikachu sells as great pets, not Pichu. They can't even properly battle. Leave it, or I will make it seem as if you died of an 'unforeseen accident'."
Scared, the first man, nodded and boarded the truck, in which they drove off.
---------------------------------------------------
Eternity.
It was stuck in perpetual eternity.
It did not know what was going on.
It did not know how much time had elapsed.
It was trapped.
It wanted to be free.
After a mind-numbing amount of time, it had detected the presence of some people.
They took it out of something.
It felt energy starting to build up inside itself.
It felt great.
It wanted to get out.
The shell prevented it from getting out.
It shall have the freedom it desired.
It was able to start moving.
Its hands, feet, head, body were covered by some fluid that started to give it shape.
It knew it would be able to break out of it soon.
When it had been settled on the ground, it started to expand the energy stored inside it.
The shell glowed with its energy.
It/He broke out.
It/He saw the people that helped him.
It/He started to call out to them.
Pain.
It/He was hit.
Pain.
He hit the ground and rolled.
Pain.
He fell unconscious.
....
He woke up with his head pounding.
Pain.
Anger.
At his entrapment.
Hatred.
At the ones who hit him.
He would not forget them.
He released the energy inside himself.
Pain.
...And hurt himself.
He was panting.
Ha...ha...ha...ha...
A flying Pokémon hit him.
"Pidgey."
"Prey."
He refused to be a prey.
He finally got his freedom.
The Pidgey attacked him fast.
He was just about able to dodge.
The Pidgey threw sand at his face.
Irritation in his eyes.
Trying to rub the dirt out, he got attacked again.
It hurt.
Distracted, he was hit and held by the Pidgey.
He used the energy inside him to give something that was instinctual: Thundershock.
Pidgey/Pichu got hurt.
Pidgey fainted.
Pain.
Tired.
He wanted to rest.
He might be attacked again.
He was hungry.
He looked at the grass and disappeared into it seeking shelter and food.
----------------------------------------------
Some days had passed.
He was able to run and hide from predators like Ekans.
He was hungry.
He was barely able to eat the berries before he had to run and hide again.
He was lonely.
Scared.
Hungry.
Scared.
Hungry.
Lonely.
Scared.
Lonely.
Hungry.
Scared.
So lost in his thoughts, that he did not see the Koffing.
He felt his head spinning by the odor released.
He was falling.
He was going to die.
He should be scared.
But...
He felt relieved.
No more running.
Not hungry anymore.
Not scared anymore.
He closed his eyes one last time...
Grab.
Feeling himself be grabbed by something large, he opened his eyes.
A big Pokémon was staring at him with its baby in its pouch.
He felt scared.
Waiting to be eaten, he closed his eyes, when he felt himself being put on the ground.
Opening his eyes, he saw the Pokémon, handing him a berry with a comforting look.
He was hungry.
He took the berry. Even if he was going to be eaten by them, at least he would go on a full stomach.
They did not make an attempt to eat him.
He decided to wait and see.
-----------------------------------------------------
The large Pokémon was a Kangaskhan and her baby.
He lost his suspicions about them.
He found himself opening up with them.
Found friends.
Family.
He was not lonely anymore.
He was playing with his adopted brother.
He was found by his brother.
They played another round.
After some time, the mother Kangaskhan calls for food.
His brother never answered.
Both him and the mother Kangaskhan became worried and started to search and call out for him.
He was not in the bushes.
He was not near the rocks.
He was not on the trees.
Nonononononono...
I am not going to lose my family.
Starting to smell for his scent both of them followed his scent trail.
They came to a stream of water.
He saw his brother climbing some rocky ledges trying to follow something.
He gave a sigh of relief.
The ledge beneath his brother's feet gave away.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO...
He saw his brother plummeting towards the stream with horror.
He started to move. He did not want to lose his family.
Suddenly...
The baby Kangaskhan was stopped mid-air.
He saw a pink, bipedal Pokémon with mammalian features. It had a rounded, wide snout; triangular ears; and large, blue eyes. It had short arms with three-fingered paws and large hind paws with oval markings on the soles. Its tail was long and thin with an ovoid tip. Its fur was very fine and thin.
It was holding the baby Kangaskhan mid-air.
It felt like a god.
It gave the baby back to his mother, and vanished.
He felt relieved.
He saw humans.
They must be responsible for nearly killing his brother.
Afterwards, it was repeatedly convinced by the baby Kangaskhan that he had not seen the humans at all and was just following the Pokémon he had seen.
He let out a sigh of relief.
--------------------------------------------
Some time has passed.
He and his brother had grown bigger.
Both of them were not able to fit properly in the mother Kangaskhan's pouch.
She was getting tired.
She was feeling pain.
He could see it.
He did not want his mother-figure to suffer.
It was nighttime when he decided to leave.
Step...step...
He went to the open mouth of the cave and looked back at his family for the last years.
He remembered.
His fear.
His loneliness.
His hunger.
Him being grabbed.
Him being fed.
Him being looked after.
Him, finding a family.
He was happy.
There was no hate for anybody.
His family had made it redundant.
He was filled with the feelings of love and compassion.
He felt something within him.
It was warm.
Like the bright sun.
Like the feeling of being filled.
Like the feeling of being loved by a family.
He shed a tear from the bottom of his being.
The energy inside him mixed with his feelings, and the world acknowledged.
The light was comparable to the bright, beautiful, and soft moonlight at his back.
He evolved.
Pichu, no, Pikachu, looked at his family for one last time and left like the gentle wind.
The next morning, the mother Kangaskhan and her baby were sad, but were filled with gratitude.
-----------------------------------------------
Some time has passed since he left.
He had learnt to hunt for food, and dodge attacks.
He was able to feed himself.
He found himself being pulled somewhere, as if something beyond him, beyond life was directing him...
It was night when he approached a building.
It had a lot of glass panes and had a tall building nearby as well with a weird thing with four blades.
He did not know what that was, nor did he care.
He was hungry.
He entered the building.
He went to some kind of big spacious place.
There were a lot of things he did not know about.
He felt his leg touch something long.
'What is it? Is it food?'
He bit into it.
He did not like the taste.
But...
There was something that made him want to bite even harder.
Electricity.
Cheering, he started biting into the long stuff.
He did not notice the lights flicker.
He did not see a man with an irritated face, throw something at him.
He felt himself being trapped in something.
NO!!
He tried to resist but was caught.
He was trapped again.
He was helpless again.
He did not like the place.
He wanted to be free.
Vowing to himself with anger, he promised to shock the person who had caught him, and make them feel pain.
He would wait for a chance to escape and not look back.
He waited.
-------------------------------------------
Sometime afterwards, quite literally a few hours later, he felt the trap being lifted.
There were people talking.
Just you wait. I will shock you and will never go back to being trapped ever again.
The one with the younger voice took his cell, and called out, thus sending him out...
"I choose you, Pokémon."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
(AN: Do you think I did Pikachu's hatred of humans and Poké balls justice?)
