Both Dragon Pulse and Bug Buzz were powerful special attack moves.

On one side, dragon energy surged forward in a concentrated wave, while on the other, the Bug Buzz attack sent vibrating insect energy through the air.

The collision of energies instantly stirred up sand and rocks from the ground, raising a thick cloud of dust!

The two sides appeared evenly matched in the first exchange.

"Grovyle, get close and use Feint Attack through the smoke!"

"Frosmoth, use Gust and blow away the cloud!"

The dust in the air blocked Frosmoth's vision, giving Grovyle a chance to approach. Jacob knew that if Grovyle wanted to defeat Frosmoth, it would have to rely on the super-effective Thunder Punch, which meant finding a way to get close.

Hudson, on the opposite side, was also experienced. He immediately commanded Frosmoth to use Gust to clear the dust and attack Grovyle simultaneously!

Frosmoth beat its wings rapidly, creating a strong gust that instantly blew away the smoke and simultaneously cut into Grovyle's body like sharp blades!

This was when the benefits of physical training revealed themselves. Even though the wind blades cut and injured Grovyle, the Pokémon didn't slow down, approaching Frosmoth as fast as green lightning!

"So fast!"

"Although Grovyle is known for its speed, this one is incredibly quick."

"It's almost comparable to an average Champion-class Pokémon, and its Dragon Pulse just now was also very powerful. Even though it's not a STAB move, it was nearly as powerful as Frosmoth's STAB Bug Buzz. This Grovyle's potential is definitely remarkable!"

"Yes, and this Grovyle is huge, almost as large as a Sceptile!"

Many spectators noticed the extraordinary qualities of Jacob's Grovyle. Kindler and Nina were also watching the battle intently.

"Junior brother, you've trained this Grovyle exceptionally well," Kindler remarked with a smile.

Nina kept her eyes on Jacob, feeling very satisfied with his performance, though her face remained neutral. "It's decent. He's put significant effort into nurturing this Grovyle."

Nina had always known Jacob's Grovyle was strong. She had long been aware that Jacob's Noibat had King-level qualifications, and this Grovyle consistently outperformed the Noibat during training, so its qualifications must be at least Champion level or higher!

During their frequent training sessions together, she observed that this Grovyle was truly well-rounded. Its large size provided abundant physical strength. At the same time, it was extremely fast and had strong offensive capabilities in both physical and special attacks. Except for its slightly weaker defense, it had no weaknesses at all!

While the two were discussing, Grovyle had already approached Frosmoth. Dark energy appeared around its claws as it struck Frosmoth hard with Feint Attack!

"Frosmoth! Acrobatics!"

Upon hearing its trainer's command, Frosmoth flapped its wings and soared into the air. Relying on its Flying-type mobility, it instantly dodged Grovyle's attack. Then, while airborne, it suddenly changed direction at tremendous speed, becoming a flash of white light as it dove straight down, wrapped in Flying-type energy, slashing toward Grovyle.

"Continue with Feint Attack!"

At this moment, Jacob could have commanded Grovyle to use Thunder Punch, but his extensive theoretical knowledge told him that the Frosmoth family could potentially learn Protect as they gained strength!

To be cautious, he needed to trick Frosmoth into using its defensive move first.

"Boom!"

The two Pokémon collided forcefully. Frosmoth executed the Flying-type Acrobatics, benefiting from the momentum of diving from high altitude, while Grovyle simply relied on raw strength!

Yet even with this disadvantage, Grovyle emerged slightly better, repelling Frosmoth while barely shifting position!

"What a powerful Grovyle!"

"Frosmoth is a Pokémon with balanced special and physical attacks, and its physical moves are quite strong, yet it's no match for Grovyle."

"It's rare to see Elite trainers putting on such an intense battle."

If the Dragon Pulse and Bug Buzz exchange had been a competition of energy control, making it difficult to intuitively feel Grovyle's power, this direct physical confrontation perfectly showcased its strength!

At the moment of impact, the veins on Grovyle's arms bulged, and its muscles flexed impressively, making it look like a bodybuilder's version of its species!

Although Grovyle in the anime typically have slim limbs, individuals vary significantly in reality. At minimum, the arms and legs of Jacob's Grovyle were almost twice as thick as those of an average Grovyle.

"Grovyle, don't let it escape!" Now that they were in close quarters, Jacob naturally wouldn't give Frosmoth a chance to retreat. He planned to decide the winner in the next few exchanges. "Feint Attack again!"

Hudson gritted his teeth, realizing Jacob was a formidable opponent. He had heard that the Dragon Gym had replaced its Elite defending trainer with a newcomer today, so he'd come ready to test the waters, but he hadn't expected such a tough challenge.

"Protect!"

When in doubt, defend. Hudson harles adhered to this philosophy. Grovyle's attack came too quickly, not giving him time to think. Unable to devise a better solution, he could only have Frosmoth buy some time.

Seeing Protect being used, Jacob's mouth curled into a slight smile. He knew his opportunity had arrived!

"Grovyle, Thunder Punch!"

"Oh no."

A protective barrier formed in front of Frosmoth, instantly blocking the Feint Attack. But just as the barrier shattered, Grovyle's Thunder Punch was already coming through, its fist crackling with electricity as it descended toward Frosmoth.

"It's Thunder Punch. Hudson is going to lose."

"Hudson's Frosmoth is well-trained in special attacks, slightly weaker in physical attacks, but its defenses are definitely not as good as Grovyle's."

"If it takes that Thunder Punch, it's probably finished."

"This trainer Jacob has a very clever battle strategy. He held back from using Thunder Punch until Frosmoth used Protect, then immediately went for the super-effective move. He's tactically brilliant. It's obvious he anticipated the Protect in advance."

As everyone watched Jacob command Thunder Punch, few remained optimistic about Hudson's chances.

"You underestimate me! Frosmoth, use Camouflage!"

[Camouflage]: Changes the user's type according to the environment.

Frosmoth was currently positioned on a sandy area of the battlefield. The moment Camouflage activated, its Bug/Ice typing transformed into Ground-type.

Although the Ground-type would be weak against Grass moves, Hudson couldn't worry about that now. He just needed to survive this attack first.

After Frosmoth changed to Ground-type, it became completely immune to Electric-type moves. Grovyle's Thunder Punch, while still causing physical damage, was completely ineffective in terms of Electric-type damage.

Jacob hadn't expected Hudson to have such a strategy. He had seen that Frosmoth knew Camouflage, but the move was so rarely used that he hadn't prepared for it.

The crowd burst into applause. Hudson's response was truly brilliant.

"Impressive!"

"I never would have thought of using Camouflage like that."

"Even though the Thunder Punch's Electric typing was neutralized, Hudson has lost most of his type advantages."

Jacob remained calm, showing no signs of frustration. The type change had actually shifted Grovyle from being at a disadvantage to having an advantage, and the balance of the battle had already tipped in his favor.
