Pokemon: This Trainer is Too Cautious!

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Zapdos Flees

"What terrifying destructive power, truly worthy of a legendary Pokémon. It's so much stronger than regular Pokémon."

Ace looked down at the devastation caused by the Thunderbolt. He understood one thing:

If he got hit once, he would surely die!

Zapdos also looked at Ace, who was held by Aerodactyl. It understood that this guy was provoking it!

Its wings crossed, an Electric Cannon quickly formed, and with a flick of its wing, it swiftly shot towards Ace.

Aerodactyl flapped its wings, easily dodging the Electric Cannon. As a move with extremely low accuracy, although powerful, its speed was too slow, making it very easy for Aerodactyl to evade.

But as Aerodactyl moved, Zapdos showed a hint of cunning.

The next moment, dark clouds gathered, and several bolts of lightning rapidly struck towards Aerodactyl. The lightning was so fast, and its coverage so dense, it was utterly despair-inducing!

"Ancient Power!"

Ace roared. Aerodactyl unleashed an Ancient Power, shattering one lightning bolt and swiftly dodging the others, narrowly escaping this almost guaranteed Thunder attack!

Zapdos saw this, and a hint of displeasure flashed in its eyes.

To hit the opponent, it had reduced power to increase the area of effect, which allowed Aerodactyl to shatter a lightning bolt and dodge the attack.

"Can't reduce the power. One hit to wipe out these bugs."

This thought surfaced in Zapdos's mind. With a loud shriek, dark clouds gathered again.

But the next moment, a howling blizzard swiftly blew towards it from below.

The biting cold caused its movements to stiffen, and the gathering dark clouds showed signs of dispersing.

This wasn't the most terrifying part. What was most terrifying was that Zapdos felt a drowsy illusion, looking down at the Lapras and Weepinbell on the rooftop below.

It found Weepinbell spraying a large amount of powder, which, carried by the blizzard, was rapidly blown into the sky.

Zapdos shrieked in anger, its whole body erupting with electrical light. The subtle current stimulated its body, causing it some minor damage, but successfully dispelled the hazy drowsiness.

"It's a pity it wasn't poisoned, otherwise it would've been an easier fight."

Ace sighed. Facing the use of a mixed powder, Ace found that the easiest status condition to dispel was sleep.

As long as there was external stimulation, drowsiness could be quickly dispelled, thus resisting the invasion of Sleep Powder.

"Aerodactyl, charge in, Ice Fang."

Ace commanded Aerodactyl to approach Zapdos, but Aerodactyl hesitated.

It knew well that it was carrying Ace, and once it engaged Zapdos, it wouldn't be able to fully consider Ace's safety.

If Ace got hurt, it wouldn't forgive itself.

"I trust you, Aerodactyl, charge!"

Facing Ace's renewed command, all doubt vanished from Aerodactyl's eyes. With a roar, a ferocious expression appeared on Aerodactyl's face.

With a flap of its wings, Aerodactyl shot towards Zapdos like a meteor.

Zapdos, seeing Ace rush towards it in such a "death-seeking" manner, was momentarily stunned, then showed a look of mockery.

Thunderbolt at full power, electricity swiftly surged towards Aerodactyl and Ace.

Ace tried his best to flatten his body, his back pressed tightly against Aerodactyl's belly under the strong winds.

As the electric light approached, Aerodactyl flapped its right wing, and its entire body spun rapidly like a top, dodging the Thunderbolt attack at a precise angle. Its speed increased again, and it charged resolutely towards Zapdos.

Ace was spun dizzy, but at this moment, he was exceptionally clear-headed.

"Facing an attack together with your Pokémon, perceiving the attack from the Pokémon's perspective, this makes a trainer understand even better how to command their Pokémon."

This was a passage left by Sakaki in the "Secrets of the Earth." At this moment, Ace understood its meaning.

Being in a safe position behind, while able to give prompts to the Pokémon from a third-person, omniscient perspective, and consider the overall situation,

A trainer who hasn't faced attacks together with their Pokémon, who hasn't fought alongside them, simply cannot know what the battle looks like through their eyes.

This is a special perspective. Although it sacrifices the omniscient view, the encouragement for the Pokémon and the heart-to-heart communication when the trainer and Pokémon face something together cannot be matched by words.

Zapdos concentrated power in its sharp beak. A spinning Drill Peck also cut through the blizzard, striking towards Aerodactyl.

"Squelch!"

Zapdos's sharp beak, like an electric drill, effortlessly pierced through Aerodactyl's chest. Drops of fresh blood trickled down Aerodactyl's body, landing on Ace.

The fresh blood stimulated Aerodactyl's nerves. Its already ferocious expression became even more bloodthirsty. It opened its mouth wide and fiercely bit down on Zapdos's retreating wing.

"Snap."

A chill spread, quickly freezing one of Zapdos's wings. But the next instant, Zapdos's wing wriggled like flowing water, instantly breaking free from Aerodactyl's bite. At the same time, it delivered a powerful Wing Attack to Aerodactyl's face, sending it flying.

"What was that?!"

Ace looked at Zapdos's almost perfectly intact wing, his brows furrowed. This thing didn't look like the Zapdos he remembered at all!

Five task points were consumed. A faint light emanated from Ace's hand as he pressed it against Aerodactyl's body.

Aerodactyl's previously pierced body instantly returned to normal. Such a scene left Zapdos somewhat stunned.

"Come on, let's see who's stronger."

Ace sneered. He still had 63 task points, enough to perfectly heal Aerodactyl 12 times.

Now, Ace deeply understood that sometimes, being a bit cautious was a good thing.

Accumulating enough meant having more trump cards, allowing one to face powerful enemies with greater confidence in times of danger.

"Come on, let the second round begin!"

Aerodactyl, carrying Ace, charged fiercely again, while below, Lapras once again whipped up a blizzard, quickly enveloping Zapdos.

Zapdos looked somewhat annoyed. Facing such an opponent with self-regeneration, and complete regeneration at that, a war of attrition would be quite unworthwhile for it.

The biting cold assailed it. Zapdos suddenly spread its wings, and intense electricity radiated outwards from its center.

Aerodactyl, seeing this, stopped its charge and unleashed Ancient Power towards the electricity.

However, after Ancient Power pierced through the electricity, Aerodactyl continued its charge through the gap. The spot where Zapdos had been was already empty.

Ace quickly looked around and suddenly realized that Zapdos had rapidly flown east, and now only a tiny silhouette could be seen.

That Zapdos, it fled!
