Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Set Off Again!
"Alright, Mr. Chihong, your room has been booked. The room number is 120. Would you like to have dinner as well?" Nurse Joy asked while handing Chihong his Pokémon Encyclopedia.
"No, thank you, Nurse Joy."
Chihong shook his head. Although the Pokémon Center provided free meals for rookie trainers, the food wasn't exactly gourmet. It was decent, but as someone who could afford better, he preferred to cook for himself or buy something tastier.
"Alright, if you need anything, feel free to come to the counter," Nurse Joy said with a kind smile.
"Okay. See you tomorrow, then."
After saying goodbye to Nurse Joy, Chihong walked toward the dormitory section of the Pokémon Center. Since every Pokémon Center followed a similar layout, he easily found his way to the dorms and located Room 120.
Once inside, he set his bag down and stretched a little. Then, he took out the Poké Balls from his belt and released his Pokémon.
"Come on out, Charmeleon, Pidgeot, and Metapod!"
With three bright flashes, the three Pokémon emerged in front of him.
"Char!"
"Pidgeot!"
"Metapod!"
His Pokémon greeted him enthusiastically. Even though the Luxury Balls provided a comfortable resting space, they still preferred being outside in the real world.
Chihong smiled at his team. "Charmeleon, you did an excellent job in today's battle. You deserve an extra treat tonight."
"Char!"
"Pidgeot!"
Metapod remained silent as usual, but Chihong knew it was happy in its own way.
As soon as they heard the word "treat," Charmeleon and Pidgeot's eyes sparkled with excitement. Even Metapod, who didn't need to eat, wobbled slightly as if wanting to join the fun.
Chihong chuckled at their reactions. He took out their food bowls and poured in the remaining energy cubes from his system backpack, making sure to give Charmeleon and Pidgeot a little extra.
"Alright, dig in!"
"Char!"
"Pidgeot!"
The two Pokémon wasted no time diving into their food, happily munching away.
Meanwhile, Chihong picked up Metapod and looked at it closely. "Metapod, you need to evolve soon. Your current strength is falling behind."
"Metapod…"
The cocoon Pokémon wobbled again, as if expressing its agreement. It had been watching Charmeleon and Pidgeot grow stronger with each battle, and it didn't want to be left behind.
"I know you're trying your best," Chihong said reassuringly as he placed Metapod on the bed.
Satisfied with his team's progress, he decided to order his own meal from the Poké Mart's delivery service. Once the food arrived, he joined his Pokémon for dinner, enjoying a peaceful night before setting off again the next day.

The Next Morning
After packing his things and double-checking the system map for his next destination, Chihong bid farewell to Nurse Joy and left the Pokémon Center. His next stop was Cerulean City.
But why hadn't he challenged the Viridian City Gym first?
The reason was simple.
As someone who had read the original story, Chihong knew that the Viridian City Gym Leader was Giovanni, the infamous boss of Team Rocket.
Unlike the other Gym Leaders, Giovanni wasn't just a strong trainer—he was a powerhouse. His Pokémon were at least quasi-elite, possibly even elite or higher. Some rumors suggested he might even have Champion-level strength.
As a rookie trainer, Chihong knew he wasn't ready to challenge someone of Giovanni's caliber. It would be pointless to battle a Gym Leader he had no chance of defeating.
So, instead of wasting time in Viridian City, he planned to collect seven other badges first before returning to challenge Giovanni. That way, he'd have a fighting chance.
For now, he continued his journey toward Cerulean City, traveling through the Viridian Forest once again.

The Vast Viridian Forest
As the largest trackless forest in the Kanto Region, the Viridian Forest spanned several million square kilometers. It stretched across multiple cities, including Viridian City and Pewter City, and even extended to the borders of Johto's Cherrygrove area.
The forest was home to a diverse range of Pokémon, including bug-types like Caterpie, Weedle, and their evolved forms. There were also plenty of wild Pidgey, Rattata, and even a few rarer species like Pikachu.
Since Chihong wasn't in a hurry to reach Cerulean City, he decided to stay in the forest for a while, battling wild Pokémon to earn points and possibly capture new team members.
"Pidgeot, use Wing Attack to finish the battle!" Chihong commanded as he pointed at the Raticate in front of him.
"Pidgeot!"
Pidgeot let out a sharp cry, spinning in the air before diving down with its wings glowing white.
"Raticate!"
The wild Raticate bared its fangs, attempting to counter with Hyper Fang, but it was too slow.
BANG!
Pidgeot's Wing Attack struck first, sending Raticate crashing into a nearby tree. The large rodent twitched for a moment before fainting.
The smaller Rattata that had been watching the fight panicked. Seeing their leader fall, they quickly rushed to Raticate's side, pulled it up, and scampered into the bushes, disappearing from sight.
At that moment, the system's voice rang in Chihong's head:
Ding! Congratulations! You have defeated wild Pokémon Raticate and earned 50 points.
"Nice, another 50 points!" Chihong grinned. "Alright, Pidgeot, let's keep going."
"Pidgeot!"
Encouraged by their progress, Chihong and his Pokémon ventured deeper into the Viridian Forest, seeking stronger opponents and new adventures.

A Wild Encounter!
As they walked through the dense trees, Chihong suddenly heard rustling sounds from a nearby bush.
He stopped in his tracks, signaling Pidgeot and Charmeleon to stay alert.
The rustling grew louder.
Then—
A wild Pokémon jumped out!
To be continued…
