Erik adjusted his gear, his Nexus interface displaying a countdown timer.

"We're running on borrowed time," Nova muttered, tightening the gloves over her glowing, circuit-marked hands. "The longer we wait, the stronger they get."

Kade exhaled through his teeth, casually checking his weapon. "Then let's make this count."

The entrance to the Omega Site was a massive, reinforced hatch built into the foundation of an old skyscraper, buried beneath layers of collapsed concrete and rusted steel. But it wasn't just locked—it was guarded.

Erik's Nexus pinged as he scanned the entrance.

Erik glanced at Kade and Nova. "We go in loud?"

Nova cracked her knuckles, energy crackling through her fingertips. "Let's end this."

Storming the Gates

"Riolu, Force Palm—disable that turret!"

Riolu shot forward, palm glowing as it struck the automated gun, sending a shockwave through its systems. Sparks flew as the turret flickered, its sensors short-circuiting.

Kade's Absol blurred into motion, leaping through the shadows and delivering a devastating Night Slash to the Bisharp, knocking it into the rubble.

Nova was already ahead of them, moving like a ghost through the battlefield. With a single swipe of her hands, a blast of Nexus energy sent the Syndicate grunts flying.

One of the soldiers managed to regain his footing, sending out Umbreon—a sleek, battle-hardened predator with glowing rings pulsing in the darkness.

"I got this," Erik said, stepping forward.

Riolu and Umbreon circled each other, reading every movement, waiting for the first strike.

The Syndicate operative smirked. "Umbreon, Dark Pulse."

A wave of crackling black energy surged forward.

Erik didn't flinch. "Riolu, Copycat!"

Riolu's eyes flashed as it mimicked the move perfectly, sending an identical Dark Pulse straight back at Umbreon. The shockwave knocked the dark-type off balance, giving Riolu the opening it needed.

"Now! Force Palm!"

A direct hit.

Umbreon collapsed, unconscious.

The fight was over.

The Syndicate soldiers, realizing they were outmatched, retreated into the depths of the facility. The entrance was now theirs.

Kade stepped over a fallen drone, holstering his weapon. "Well, that was fun."

Nova ignored him, staring at the open hatch leading into the Omega Site.

"We go in now," she said, her voice tight. "Before they regroup."

Erik nodded, stepping forward. His Nexus interface flickered with a warning.

He looked at Kade and Nova one last time.

They were ready.

Taking a deep breath, Erik stepped into the darkness.
