Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Plan for Activating Weapons

"Sir, we can also evacuate with the townspeople. Winter is still nearly a month away."

Reiner walked to the huge alchemical instrument named "Unit 0" by Harvey, skillfully pulled a metal hose and inserted it into the magic power interface on his waist.

He has now learned to comfort Harvey in return.

Harvey smiled bitterly and shook his head, staring at the "Unit 0" server in silence.

The instrument could indeed be disassembled and transported again, taking some time, but the problem lay with the inscription on the base.

To draw this kind of spell inscription that can automatically draw energy from the magic network, precious spellcasting material such as liquid mithril is needed.

A bottle of liquid mithril containing about 50 ml in a crystal test tube is worth up to 800 gold pounds.

In addition, other equally valuable auxiliary materials are consumables that cannot be reused.

Once the instrument was dismantled, the inscriptions would have to be redrawn, and he no longer had the funds to rebuild another server.

"Stay in Jackdaw Town and find a way to defend against the evil orcs." Harvey looked at Reiner and made the decision with gritted teeth.

Reiner was silent for a while before speaking in a low voice.

"Sir, you have only moved here for more than half a year. You have never seen those hateful and cruel guys. They are evil orcs!"

"When I was young, I witnessed with my own eyes a group of evil orcs invading a village outside the town in the dead of winter."

Reiner fell into a long memory, his tone a little sad.

"They burned down all the houses in the village and slaughtered all the villagers and livestock. Even the fish in the pond were scooped up, their tenderest bellies were eaten, and then thrown on the ground at random."

"All the metal that could be re-melted was looted by them, even the bolts on the door panels were not spared..."

Harvey was a little surprised. "Have you ever participated in the battle to eliminate the evil orcs?"

Reiner chuckled a few times, and seemed to be in a low mood. "Of course not, sir. I was only responsible for pushing the cart and delivering some kerosene to help the battle mages burn the bodies of the evil orcs and innocent civilians."

"In addition to the battle mage who is stationed in the town, there are also more than a dozen mage masters who came from Grizzly Castle to provide support."

Harvey listened calmly to Reiner's somewhat vague description of his memories, interrupting him from time to time to ask some detailed questions.

Evil orcs usually move out in tribes, and a team of evil orcs is composed of approximately three to five hundred evil orcs.

According to Reiner's description, in addition to the warriors wearing simple armor, there were also priests waving wooden staffs and releasing poisonous mist, who were obviously spellcasters.

The spellcasters of the Federation who were in charge of resistance and cleanup usually worked in groups of three to five, and had no problem fighting against more than thirty evil orcs.

After all, the primitive tribal form of evil orcs still mainly rely on chanting to cast spells, while the combat-type spellcasters among humans have long learned the crushing magic attack method of instant spells.

But the problem now is that there will not be any battle mages stationed in Jackdaw Town this winter.

No one dared to bet whether the evil orcs would cross the steep and dangerous Jackdaw Ridge and enter the town to plunder.

Therefore, evacuation is the best option. At worst, we can return to the town and rebuild after winter.

In other words, if Harvey chose to stay alone, he and Reiner would most likely face a group of evil orcs of at least three hundred people.

This may also include spellcasters.

Although he is not a combat mage, the Necromancer's unique skill of shaking people can ensure that Harvey will not be too powerless to fight back when facing three or fewer spellcasters of the same level alone.

Unfortunately, I don't have any goods and can't even shake out a single zombie.

The few incomplete zombies that were previously handed over to Reiner for control had already been rotten and damaged beyond recognition after more than a month of intensive torture.

After Harvey soaked them in alchemical acid, they were transformed into bones and stored as backup materials.

As for the skeleton soldiers, Harvey does have this spell reserve. Although he has not learned it yet, it is a first-level spell lower than resurrection, so it is not difficult to learn.

But the skeleton structure is too fragile. It may be okay to scare ordinary people, but if you encounter an evil orc, you can probably use it to make soup with just one blow of an axe.

Looking at Reiner who was standing next to the server and silently "charging", Harvey felt that the breakthrough still had to be sought from the soul transfer technology.

Of course, it is impossible to find some dying people in the same situation as Reiner and repeat the experiment of transferring living people's souls a few more times.

But if it is a beast with low intelligence, it may be feasible.

After all, after Reiner's transfer experiment was successful, Harvey had summarized the reasons for the previous failure and understood the key to success.

As long as sufficiently powerful magic network energy is supplied during the transfer process, the success rate of the transfer can be greatly improved.

In the past, I always used low-level magic stones to experiment on insects and poultry, resulting in insufficient soul energy and magic network energy of the experimental subjects.

This is the main reason for failure.

Now with this "Unit Zero" server, there is no need to worry about the strength of the magic network's energy.

By capturing more large mammals, such as the numerous gray wolves and black bears in Jackdaw Ridge, perhaps we can really put together a team of alchemical beasts to resist the attack of the evil orcs.

The more Harvey thought about it, the more feasible it seemed, so he quickly woke up Reiner, who was already drowsy.

"Reiner, wake up, we need to go to the woods."

Reiner woke up slowly. Since he was transformed into an alchemical life, he had lost his sense of taste, smell, and perception of cold and heat, which are the basic senses of human beings.

But every time he charged, it was as warm and comfortable as soaking in a hot spring, making him addicted.

"Sir, let me charge for a while..."

There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6-9!

Before nightfall, Harvey and Reiner returned to the laboratory estate.

Reiner was carrying a pair of gray wolves on his broad shoulders, one on each side, and behind him was a door panel with a chain, on which was tied a huge black bear with its limbs broken.

"Is this really okay, sir?" After throwing the prey to the ground with a bang, Reiner still felt a little uncertain.

"Just try it and you'll know." Harvey was full of confidence.

The two worked for a while before they tied the gray wolf to the experimental table and connected it to the alchemical instruments and magical devices.

They were knocked unconscious one by one by Reiner's punch, so we have to wait for them to slowly recover before we can start the transfer experiment.

After the gray wolf woke up and began to howl, Harvey activated the soul transfer device without hesitation.

A huge amount of magical energy was injected into "Unit 0", and the spell coordinator emitted a humming sound as if it was running at high speed.

The modified thick metal tube was connected to the metal cover on the gray wolf's head, instantly opening the soul transfer channel.

Connect to the soul core and open the alchemical prosthetic inscription device...

After a few minutes, Harvey turned off the instrument and walked with Reiner to the temporarily assembled transfer carrier to observe it.

The vehicle was sketched by Harvey and quickly assembled by Reiner using leftover alchemical metals and materials.

It looks like a giant spider covered in a metal shell.

The spider's body is covered with sharp barbs, and its front mouth has sharp fangs that are staggered up and down.

Eight thick, curved insect legs were rooted in the ground, engraved with inscriptions to ensure the passage of energy.

At this moment, all these inscriptions have been lit up one by one, which also means that the soul transfer experiment has not failed.

The metal spider's body trembled slightly, and then its eight legs slid wildly and began to struggle violently.

"Silence it, Reiner," Harvey ordered.

Reiner took the connecting cable and connected himself to the spider through the reserved socket.

"Tsk, thoughts are filled with confusion and fear, not as peaceful and quiet as zombies." Reiner commented on the new alchemical product.

The metal spider struggled less and less vigorously, and finally fell silent. Only the still glowing inscription showed that the energy had not yet dissipated.

"How is it different from the methods needed to control zombies?" Harvey asked curiously.

Reiner was silent for a while, as if he didn't know how to describe it.

"Just, just like... just like comforting a puppy, sir."

Harvey nodded, as if that should be the case. After all, gray wolves are essentially canines.
