Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Love, Flower, Bomb, Freedom
(1st POV)
We were now at the peak of Mount Hakodate, taking in the nighttime view of the city below.
Everything looked beautiful. Lights illuminated giving the city a warm, lively glow.
Reze leaned gently against my shoulder as we sat side by side, our hands interlocked.
"You know… you've been extra clingy since our date," I said, my tone teasing, though I was genuinely curious. "Not that I'm complaining or anything."
She stayed quiet for a second, then spoke softly.
"Do you… hate it?"
"It's my first time feeling like this. I just… I don't want to be hurt again."
Her voice was low but she was being honest..
I smiled at her.
"I don't hate it at all. In fact, I feel good, especially when a cute girl like you does it."
She turned her face just slightly, a faint smile on her lips as she squeezed my hand tighter.
We stayed like that, sat in silence and in each other's warmth. A full minute passed before I spoke again.
"…I'm curious though. Why was that Sebastian guy after you?"
This time she didn't flinch. She must've expected that question eventually.
"He wanted to take me back. To her." She paused for a moment:
"His master… Yoru. She's a devil from my world."
"She's obsessed with war and weapons. She hates it when her weapons run away from her."
Her hand trembled slightly in mine.
"To her, I'm the Bomb Devil Hybrid. A living weapon. Her 'child.' Something she thinks she owns."
Her words hit me harder than I expected.
"I hated her," she continued. "After my devil mother died in this world, my human father… he sold me off. I was four at the time…Just four years old when that organization took me in."
She revealed everything….and I was stunned.
This… this was worse than I'd imagined.
She really got the short end of the stick.
I wanted to sympathize with her it felt too hollow. Probably not what she needed from me.
"…That's horrible," I said quietly.
"I'm sorry for bringing up bad memories."
She looked up at me, her emerald-green eyes met bright blue.
And then, she smiled.
"I don't care about the past anymore," Reze said softly. "Whatever happened… it's all gone now."
She leaned closer as she continued.
"I just want to treasure what we have now, Aleks-kun."
My heart tightened as she confessed.
"Me too, and I promise nothing can take this away from us." I said with determination as I kept looking into her eyes.
She had a broad smile on her face, her cheeks blushing. I guess what I said must have made her happy.
She leaned in and kissed me. I kissed her back, my right hand bringing her closer to me as our kiss deepened.
She held my face, locking her lips onto mine aa I kept her closer to me. We continued for about a minute until we pulled apart…a thin trail of saliva connecting our lips.
"Starting tomorrow…we have to get back to training huh?" Reze muttered to herself.
Training, huh.
I was actually looking forward to it. If hitting the gym doesn't count as training, then this would be my first time training for real, with someone for combat and survival.
I knew what I needed to focus on for—
BAM.
Out of nowhere, her fist came flying at me, clearly aiming to break my nose.
Six Eyes helped me predict her move, and I tilted my head just in time to avoid it. The punch missed me by a hair.
"Wha—?!"
Before I could say anything else, she spun and swept her leg toward my ribs.
I twisted, barely dodging, only for her to immediately jump into a flying kick aimed right at my face.
I leapt back, putting some distance between us, barely evading her assaults.
What the hell was she doing?
She stopped near me,she had her usual smile while her fingers hovering near the pin on her neck.
"What the hell was that for?" I asked, clearly shocked. "You trying to kill me or what?"
She casually wiped the leftover saliva from our kiss off her lips, then answered,
"I was testing myself."
"Now?"
"You said we'd start training tomorrow," she said with her usual smile, walking toward me.
She squatted slightly, leaned in, and kissed my cheek.
"But I don't feel like waiting."
She cupped my chin and lifted it, forcing me to look at her. I didn't resist…I wanted to see where this was going.
Her voice dropped, her tone serious now.
"If I can't land even a single hit on the man I love… then how the hell am I supposed to fight anyone else?"
I stared at her. "What do you want, Reze?"
She grinned, leaning close to my ear and whispering,
"I want to fight you without holding back. I want to see how strong I really am~"
"…You are insufferable."
She pulled back, her grin still on her lips.
"Then show me why you call yourself the strongest, Aleks-kun~"
She pulled the pin from her neck.
BOOM.
She transformed into her Bomb Devil hybrid form in her iconic explosion.
I should've been caught in it, but Gojo's Infinity was already active, shielding me from the explosion.
I had to admit… this guy's power was convenient for almost any type of combat.
I stepped forward slowly until I was right in front of her, towering above her head.
"You know… you don't stand a chance if you keep using cheap explosions."
"This is our rematch. Let's finish what we couldn't last time."
"Let yourself loose, Bomb girl," I smirked, teasing her just enough to excite her.
Right then, she grabbed my hand and detonated it.
My left arm was instantly mangled, torn apart, and bloodied.
Still… I felt no pain.
I leapt back and let my arm heal using Reversed Cursed Technique. Now fully restored.
If I kept Infinity active, this fight would be completely one-sided.
None of her attacks would even touch me.
So, I gave myself a handicap.
Only Cursed Energy Reinforcement, teleportation, and RCT. Nothing else.
I didn't like taking damage, sure, but Gojo's Infinity would make this too one-sided.
I could've switched to another template, technically, but I'd activated Gojo's on instinct, and now wasn't the time to waste ten seconds, standing still just to change templates.
Besides, I wasn't here to prove myself I was stronger than her.
If it's Reze… I can afford to take some damage. As long as I can heal it, of course.
She didn't give me time to think.
She lunged, a crackle of mini explosions bursting behind her as she charged at me with immense speed.
I grinned.
I teleported behind her in an instant, completely dodging her barrage.
My hand touched her shoulder.
"That was cute. But you'll need more than that."
The second she felt my presence, she spun around with a bluff, aiming for a nut shot.
"Tch. Annoying," she muttered.
I caught her leg with my CE-reinforced hand.
"Same attacks won't work twice, my dear—"
BOOM.
My arm exploded again on contact.
Shit. I got carried away.
I jumped back, healed once more with RCT, and watched as she turned to face me.
Explosions crackled in her hands again.
"You're playing with me, Aleks-kun. Please… go all out—"
Before she could finish, I warped directly in front of her.
I planted my hand on her bomb head, just like Sukuna did to that finger bearer.
CRACK.
She was thrown, crashing into the ground with a crater forming around her.
"If I went all out, you'd die, my love. I can't allow that," I said, looking down at her.
She rose slowly, panting. Then jumped back, preparing something.
"I see… then let's wrap this up," she said. "I want you to withstand one of my strongest attacks. No cheating, alright Aleks-kun~?"
She took a stance. Her entire body began to spark, glowing with explosive energy.
I widened my eyes. "Reze, don't blow yourself up! I can't heal you if there's nothing—!"
Before I could finish, she was already done.
Numerous rocket-like projectiles scattered across the mountaintop while her body butned almost like a human torch.
And then—
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM.
The upper half of the mountain was destroyed in a blinding yet deafening blast.
As we both were plummeted down through debris, smoke and fire until we came to a stop.
And then I shouted,
"Damn it, Reze! You could've held back a little!"
I had already surrounded myself in Infinity before, tanking the explosion like it was nothing. Even with Toji's physique and CE reinforcement, I wouldn't have survived that.
When the dust finally settled, I took a look around, only to find everything around us ruined.
And there, in the center of this scorched place, stood Reze.
Her clothes tattered, body steaming in heat, but she was still standing.
She dropped to her knees and panted heavily, reverting back to her human form.
I walked toward her carefully, the dust still settling behind us. Her knees gave in, so I reached out and gently pulled her into my arms.
She didn't resist, instead, she wrapped her arms around my shoulders, resting her weight against me for support.
"Not a scratch on you, huh?" she murmured, leaning in close. "You're a cheater, Aleks-kun~"
"…I'd be dead if I didn't defend myself," I said, trying not to sound arrogant. I wasn't trying to show off.
But my inner Sukuna couldn't hold back, "You should be proud, Reze. You're strong."
My voice gave it away as a hint of arrogance slipped through.
Reze chuckled and then looked up at me, her face flushed,
"That means a lot coming from someone like you, Aleks-kun~"
For a moment, we just stood there, her body warm against mine, the stars above us, and the ruins of Mount Hakodate beneath our feet. Everything felt…perfect.
But then—
I sensed it.
Six Eyes have picked up on several supernatural presences approaching this ruined mountain at an alarming speed.
One of the presence… felt divine. Was there a god after us?
My expression changed, and my smile vanished.
"Fuck."
"What's wrong?" Reze asked, sensing the change in my demeanor.
"We have to run, no time to explain," I said, quickly teleporting us away just as those signatures neared us.
We landed inside the ryokan room. The warmth of the kotatsu, our… messed up bed… it was all intact.
Reze blinked, confused by the sudden change in our surroundings. "Why'd we run?" she asked, tilting her head. "I thought you could fix the mountain just like you did to the forest?"
I looked at her seriously as I brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
"I sensed several supernatural beings heading straight for us. One of them… felt divine. Like a god. Getting involved with them right now isn't a good idea, love."
Reze's eyes widened. She clearly hadn't expected divine intervention just for going almost all out.
"Did my stunt really attract that much attention? I thought I held back…" she asked.
"You clearly blew up half of Mount Hakodate which is kind of a big deal, you know? It's a famous landmark." I couldn't help but chuckle. "Of course they noticed."
Then I started removing my clothes.
"What do you say," I said, tossing it aside casually, "we go for round two? The night's still young~"
She grabbed my hand, grinning as she leaned in close.
"Well, aren't you quite bold, Aleks-kun?"
Her voice was soft, playful, and filled with warmth.
And just like that, rest of the night…belonged to us.
***
I found myself tied to a chair.
My vision was blurry, but I could make out the shape of the room. It was dark, lit only by flickering candles, with talismans plastered across the walls. The air smelled heavy with the scent of incense and paper.
I blinked to clear my vision, my head throbbing slightly.
The last thing I remembered…having sex with Reze for the second time, we were at for hours…
So how the fuck did I get here?
It didn't make sense. I should've picked up on any supernatural presence, even in my sleep, especially with Six Eyes. But right now, I didn't feel Six Eyes. My extrasensory perception was gone. My eyes felt normal now.
I hated this feeling.
Then I noticed him.
A silhouette of a tall, lean man stood just a few feet away, watching me. He had been standing there the whole time.
At first, I thought I was hallucinating.
But then he stepped forward.
White hair. Ridiculous height. That blindfold.
No… fucking… way.
"Gojo… Satoru?" I blurted.
My mouth went dry. The atmosphere suddenly felt familiar. Déjà vu. Yuji's execution room. Where Gojo told him about being Sukuna's vessel.
"Yo," he said, casually. "The one and only." He had that same goofy smile he always wore.
He leaned in slightly, putting a finger on his face while inspecting me like I was someone interesting.
"We finally meet, Rein, huh."
He paused, eyes narrowing with a teasing glint.
"Gotta say… never thought the guy using my template would have such unique taste in women."
He clicked his tongue and shook his head.
"Seriously? Falling for the Control Devil? Her of all people? Are you alright bro? That's like willingly going through eternal emotional torture."
He straightened up and thrn pointed his finger at me.
"Also…you're like obsessively scared of not being able to survive…honestly that's what makes you weak." He finished with a cocky grin on his face.
My fist clenched.
Being mocked for my taste in women was one thing. But calling me weak?
Does he even know how much I've been through? How hard I've been fighting to protect my loved ones?
It hasn't even been a fucking week yet!
