Pretending to Be an Untouchable Crime Boss

Chapter 238: More Blood.

"My time?" James asked back, confused as he had no idea what Benjamin was referring to.

"The deal between you and the government, us… with the national emergency, we literally prepared the country for you. The drug market and everything that you need… but now it's your time to actually perish those who are associated with the cartel and, well, everybody who you can."

There was silence for a bit, as they stared at each other, as Benjamin just got more nervous as James just stared at him without blinking.

"What are you talking about? Like what about the new agency and all of this zero tolerance against criminals that y'all going to hunt them down?"

The question was real because then it just didn't make any sense, like they said their speech with passion, with a serious tone. They were literally true leaders at that moment, leaders they alway needed to be and now Benjamin is just telling him that now it's time to do his part?

Like what the fuck is this? Marco is dead, he killed him. One of the biggest fuckers who could fuck up shit on a whole other level, hand in hand with Isabella. Not even talking about Silas and his fucking son. James and the family did more than the fucking government in years. He killed a corrupt mayor, a police chief, and destabilized the drug market saving lives, even burned mixed products to send a message.

He did more than them in years.

"It's all a lie, you know that, don't you?" Benjamin asked, but James's eyes and expression were telling him that he was getting angry and didn't know what the fuck is going on right now. "Look, it's obvious we can't do the things we promised, because, well, the corruption and bureaucracy. To start it, we need to redo the departments, the agencies, we need to rebuild the whole government and then start our zero tolerance program, but that would take years."

He explained, and James just realized what he was talking about was truly impossible to do in months. And more importantly, they can't do it that quickly because it would truly seem like the building of a dictatorial state, which they need to avoid.

"So it was all just speaking into nothing?"

"Y-yeah… kinda… but if we work tight, it can be possible. Or more like, with your part of the deal you made with the president and us, just kill them and we will take credit for it, and you can do your job however you want after that."

Of course they were lying, like what the fuck was James even thinking? A government that didn't do shit for years suddenly changing into the heroes, the ones that fight back and show what they're capable of… what a fucking lie and manipulation technique it is, even him fell for their brave speeches.

"Benjamin… what the fuck is this…" James wiped his face as he leaned back, and it was really what they talked about back then. His part of the deal was to deal with gangsters and criminals, with the cartel.

But this came quicker than he thought it would be.

"I know, it's all because of William he fucked us all up, but don't worry, you have the NSBI, the ISB, and the IF. The whole agency is with you and will help with intel, and of course, as the President said, with people trained to kill, and weapons, as many as you need, whatever you want."

"So I need to kill whoever I want and choose, and y'all will take credit? With that, you show the public what you promised today, you're actually doing it, right?"

"Exactly." Benjamin nodded. "With it, we will have more power as the government, and even the opposition wouldn't say anything to us, not even Congress. We have more than 160 days to do it without any restrictions."

This is a whole other scale… it's just unbelievable that we're speaking about this… James thought, as it was just truly unbelievable.

First, just going on a killing spree is crazy work. What's crazier is actually that the government would take credit for it and show to the public that what they said wasn't a lie. Because if they didn't do it, then an outrage would come with huge riots, that they lied… again and now this power was actually in James's hands, because if he does nothing, then the government would literally fall.

Then came his second thought about the fucking cartel. Like, thinking about it more, they were the only ones he held anger toward, and he had no problem going on a hunt against them. It was the best time for it, with all of Sophia's detailed information about them and their connections all over the country. But it is not enough, and they both knew it. Even William knew it.

The cartel wasn't the root of the problem, but the gangsters and their culture. The street dealers, the gangs that kill the youth, those who don't operate in the shadows but show themselves and are proud of the fact that people fear them… That is the main problem of this country and taking them down is easy, but in the same way, it will take up resources because they can't just shoot them on the streets or bomb them, but make it believable it was the government forces.

He was literally thrown into the middle of all of it. Cartels on one side, government on the other, and the rest were filled with the small gangs and mafias that were ready to fight back. Not even mentioning the deal with Benjamin, that too needed to be taken care of.

"There's going to be a lot of blood flowing on the street, Benjamin." James said as he looked into his eyes and this time, it was different. He was serious about it, and it just told Benjamin he was ready for it.

"Then let it flow."
