Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 440: The Appraisal, The Challenge

The sudden explosion of Kent's cauldron was a ridiculous sight that made many wipe the idea of him being the perfect alchemist from their minds.

Exploding a cauldron on the first trial was just a plain definition of how inexperienced he was. Of course, he managed to finish the pill, but that was beside the point.

Just getting your cauldron to explode in your face as an alchemist is like a swordsman losing hold of their sword in combat.

So they just put him aside and started focusing on some others.

Even the saints were of the same conclusion.

But that was what Kent was after.

He just smiled in his head, stood aside, and started waiting for the appraisal that would determine whether his bait would catch its fish.

After a while, the last of the contestants was done, and the appraisal artifact was brought forward. It was a circular tablet with runic formations on it.

"The appraisal artifact will appraise the pill and tell us the purity percentage of the pill," the elder said, picking up the pill bottle of Elaine.

He opened it and placed the pill on the appraisal artifact.

The moment the pill touched the artifact, it lit up green. Then, from the green, a runic writing of the purity level appeared.

"Congratulations, Pill Master Elaine, your pill appraisal is 94%."

The fans and those coming to suck up to the future Pill Grandmaster and possibly Pill Saint were started praising her. Elaine, on the other hand, just stood to the side, watching everything like it didn't concern her.

Kent looked at her demeanor and shook his head.

'Her composure is good. I doubt she is arrogant like the rest.' He may have appraised her higher than the rest of her peers, who were looking disdainfully at him.

The next pill was Annabelle's.

The appraisal device showed it was a 92% pure pill. This didn't surprise anyone. They all knew Annabelle was just lagging behind Elaine by a few degrees.

Catching up to her wouldn't take long, considering that in their last duel, she was lagging by 6% in purity.

More pills were appraised based on the order of completion.

The rest of the geniuses were in the 90% region. None was able to move past Annabelle. Only Lucas managed to reach the 92% range, catching up to Annabelle.

After a while, Kent's turn came.

In the audience, people started talking

"What purity do you think he will attain?" someone asked his friend in the audience.

"I was really expecting him to prove he is the Perfect Alchemist, but looking at his poor display, getting 80% will be difficult."

"True, I was really hoping he was the Perfect Alchemist; that would have made things much easier."

"I still think he is the Perfect Alchemist," another person said, making everyone turn and look at him.

"I can see your eyes are working well, but come on, what were you seeing when his cauldron exploded?" one person asked disdainfully.

"Maybe instead of talking like an idiot, pay attention to the process next time. You clearly saw the smoke right before the explosion. That means the pill was done before the explosion.

This also means his purity wasn't affected," said the one who said Kent is the perfect Alchemist. He is a young man who looks like he was well-versed in the field of alchemy.

"Then how do you explain the cauldron exploding part? Also, if he is the Perfect Alchemist, why wasn't he able to concoct a perfect pill?

Since you're a know-it-all, why don't you tell us what happens when a perfect pill is created?"

"That is beside the point. An alchemist can intentionally lower the purity level of a pill, so there is no need to be concerned about that."

"I may not be the best in the field of alchemy, but I know for a fact one thing alchemists hate is intentionally lowering the purity level of a pill.

So stop this nonsense about him being the Perfect Alchemist."

The only question lingering now is whether or not the Perfect Alchemist is present. If he were present, the appraisal wouldn't even be needed, for a perfect pill emits light when formed.

Kent's pill was dropped on the appraisal machine, and to everyone's shock, the pill was 93% pure.

"Though he manages to concoct a 93% pill, that doesn't prove he is the Perfect Alchemist."

"True, he indeed isn't. Now, while I don't want to create any rumors, I hear Pill Master Elaine has a relationship with one of the managers in the Silver Leaf Auction House.

Now, before you all eat me, know that the perfect pills came from one of the managers there. So while I don't want to sound like an idiot, I believe Elaine is the Perfect Alchemist.

You all saw how she effortlessly concocted the 94% pure pill. I believe she is the Perfect Alchemist." Someone suddenly found a new target.

"You might be onto something here."

"Indeed. The only question is if her master knew about it." They all turned and looked in the direction of Pill Saint Enex; however, looking at the expression on his face, they all wiped that idea from their heads.

Frustration started bubbling up in their minds as they tried to figure out who the Perfect Alchemist was. In the end, after the last appraisal, they paused and decided to wait for the next contest.

Thirty participated in the first trial, but only twenty-two made it to the next round.

"Rest for the next two hours; the next trial will begin after," the elder said, and the twenty-two remaining started moving away to prepare.

Kent decided to go back to his carriage and wait for the time; however, just when he moved two steps, someone stopped before him.

Kent lifted his eyes and met the gaze of Elaine, who was looking coldly at Kent. She wasn't saying anything; she just stood there, coldly staring at him.

"Hello, you are in my way," Kent said, snapping his fingers before her eyes.

"I challenge you to a duel. Do you dare accept?" Elaine declared, making everyone that is moving suddenly stop in their tracks.
