Chapter 72: Guardian’s Protect (2)
"I can't believe the leader thought 70 of us can't handle a single Root Master, so he sent a hundred more," a young man said, showing an annoyed expression.
"Falk, you have to trust in the leader and what he does. If I am not mistaken, this was a direct instruction from Lady Daisy. We have to obey without question," another man said to the one named Falk.
"I know, leader. It's just that seeing 170 of us guarding a mortal from a mere Root Master, I can't help but feel like I was being looked down on," Falk stated.
He was one of the three people who went to kidnap Li Hua and also the same person who killed Li Hua's grandmother, Janice.
As a Level 5 Root Saint, he felt like getting reinforcements to guard a mortal from Kent was an insult to his pride as a warrior. Of course, their leader, who goes by the name Vogt, felt the same.
The two were tribesmen who, after a pack of Bloodthirsty Hellhounds raided their tribe, chose to become retainers of the Ashland Noble family. Luckily, they landed roles in the Dark Legion guards and have been rising through the ranks ever since. Experience exclusive tales on empire
"That said, we should prepare to greet our guests warmly. Tell the others to prepare the torture room. We will have some time with him to lighten our mood," Vogt said, smiling slightly.
Falk nodded and left with a small smile. Clearly, they didn't place Kent in their eyes. Naturally, it was natural, considering Kent was also moving toward them with calm and casual steps.
Just as they didn't regard him, he didn't regard them either. Right now, Kent was focused on one thing: rescuing the lamb under his care that had been taken away.
After all, as the wise saying goes, "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?"
Kent was coming to rescue his lamb, and there was no way he would leave without it.
Thirty minutes after Kent finished preparing, a small mountain that seemed to be made into a cave prison appeared in his sight.
Immediately, he used his new and improved Appraiser's Eye to appraise the mountain.
[Mokasa Mountain Prison]
[Danger: High]
-- This is a prison where the Dark Legion Guards, infamous for their ruthlessness and brutality, practice their immoral arts.
-- Anyone sent to this place never returns home, as the prison is designed for killing and erasing people from existence.
-- To date, 20,000 people have been executed in this prison, their deaths brought about through relentless torture until their hearts finally give out.
"Damn, these people are animals," Kent muttered, his expression calm.
Soon, he came within a 10-mile radius. The moment he entered the region, he sensed Li Hua through the guardian link between them.
"Tower, what is her condition?" Kent asked.
[She is well. No harm has come to her.]
To confirm, Kent moved forward, and his divine sense picked up on her. She was asleep in a small cell that seemed to haven't been cleaned in forever.
Naturally, the moment his senses locked onto Li Hua, his presence was made known. But Kent didn't panic. Instead, as soon as he felt himself being detected, he used his teleportation skill to close the gap.
The next second, he was only a few meters away.
However, he wouldn't get a chance to enter the prison, as the entire area was immediately surrounded. Despite this, Kent kept moving until he was 100 meters from the prison entrance.
He looked around as if surveying a field of dead goats. After taking in the disdainful faces staring back at him, Kent sighed and rested his gaze on a man whose sharp eyes stood out among the crowd.
Instantly, Kent recognized the aura surrounding him and knew he was the leader.
"A swordsman," he muttered before accessing the man's information.
[Name: Vogt Adler]
[Cultivation: Peak Root Saint]
[Age: 40]
[Danger: Very High]
-- Vogt is the leader of the Dark Legion Guards in the Makosa Mountain prison.
-- He is a swordsman who has mastered both sword qi and sword intent.
-- He was once a member of the Weiss Tribe, located somewhere in the Adira Mountains. After his tribe was raided and its members scattered, he joined the Dark Legion Guards with his brother and quickly rose through the ranks.
-- Throughout his career as a guard, he has killed 4,702 people, both innocent and guilty.
-- Known as the Blood Sword, Vogt earned his title because, after every battle, his sword is dyed red. He is extremely dangerous.
Skills:
- Blood Cut (Earth, SS)
- Solar Slash (Earth, S)
- Ashland Sword Art (Heaven, SS)
Kent didn't say anything. Instead, he turned his attention to the next person who smelt of danger and scanned him, too. Naturally, they didn't know what he was doing.
[Falk Adler]
[Cultivation: Level 5 Root Saint]
[Age: 38]
[Danger: High]
-- Falk is the vice leader of the Dark Legion Guards in the Makosa Mountain Prison.
-- He is a spearman who has mastered spear qi and quick precision attacks.
-- Known for his cruelty, Falk enjoys torturing prisoners for days before killing them.
-- He gained his position by eliminating anyone who challenged him, including his own comrades.
-- Falk is feared for his "Death Spiral" technique, which leaves his victims in pieces.
-- Many whisper that Falk's spear is cursed, as it drips with blood that never dries.
Skills:
- Death Spiral (Earth, S)
- Shadow Lunge (Earth, A)
- Crimson Spear Art (Heaven, S)
Kent then looked for the mage that could pose a threat to him. The Tower did mention there is a mage that has some nasty debuff skills. Kent looked for him next.
It took just a few seconds to locate him. He was near the leader despite his cultivation base.
[Henry Ky Tay]
[Cultivation: Level 9 Root Master]
[Age: 32]
[Danger: Very High]
-- Henry is a mage who specializes in debuff spells.
-- His magic weakens his enemies, making them slow and vulnerable.
-- Known for his sadistic nature, Henry enjoys watching others suffer as their strength is drained away.
-- He can cripple entire groups of enemies by casting debilitating spells that affect their minds and bodies.
-- His dark magic can cause hallucinations, making his victims believe they are being attacked by their own allies.
Skills:
- Soul Drain (Heaven, SS)
- Mind Distort (Earth, SS)
- Venomous Curse (Earth, S)
'Bunch of nasty humans, I am going to enjoy killing them,' Kent thought, then he looked back at Vogt, who stood with a nonchalant look on his face.
"Before I say what I have come here to do, he must first die," Kent said, turning his attention back to Henry.
The next second, a disc-shaped artifact appeared in his hand, and then he threw it.
The disc zipped fast through the air, and before they could react, a head came rolling down. The disc then flew back to Kent, who immediately threw it into his space ring.
Kent has finally used the [Instant Killing Disc]. Since Henry was a Root Master, he could easily kill him using the disc.
The next second, Vogt's anger appeared when he saw his most valuable asset's head on the floor. His sword appeared in his grip.
But before he could move, Kent raised his finger, signaling him to stop.
"Gentlemen, my name is Kent. I am a guardian, and you have someone who belongs to me. Naturally, I am here to retrieve her. But first, you all have to die" Kent spoke, his voice cold.
[Now, that is what you call an entrance...Kekekeke] The tower commented.
