Chapter 148: Waiting In Line For Wang Chen's Funeral
'Wow! Big Brother Lucian looks so handsome!' Lily thought, her cheeks turning red when she saw her Big Brother Lucian clothed in the black robe entering the living room. 'If he looks this handsome in these clothes, wouldn't he be even better looking with his real appearance?'
"Does Senior remember when we made the deal, I said going to Harmony City at this time would be an enjoyable experience?" James said laughingly when he saw him.
"Mn." Lucian nodded, wondering where this was going.
"Well, I wonder if Senior would like to attend this special event. I can guarantee Senior will thoroughly enjoy it!" James asked him.
'Is this why everyone is dressed in luxurious clothes?' Lucian looked at everyone and realized they were all wearing black clothes. Even Lily was wearing a beautiful black dress and a black mask that covered her hair.
'But why black…?'
"I don't mind, as long as it doesn't interfere with our participation in the Auction," Lucian responded after a few moments. "Also, it's not like I have a choice in the matter…"
"Senior doesn't have to worry. The special event will end in no time. Furthermore, we can leave whenever Senior wishes." James said to him.
"Alright, when is the event?" Lucian asked after noticing Lily was looking at him.
"The event starts at 4. Also, because I'm part of the Orchard Family, I and everyone I choose to bring can enter the venue, unlike the rest who can only watch from outside." James subtly explained the benefits of being part of the glorious Orchard Family.
Lucian merely chuckled inwardly. Outwardly, he nodded.
"If the event is at 4 pm, can I return to my room? I feel like I'm close to a breakthrough." Hervy asked, which was immediately followed by eager nods from the rest of the Lion's Liver.
"It's fine. You all can do whatever you please." James smiled. He only had interest in Lucian and, by extension, the woman, who was always hidden behind a mask. As for the others, he did not care for them because Lucian's relationship with them was minimal.
After receiving his permission, Lion's Liver, Fenwick, and even Lily after saying goodbye to her Big Brother Lucian, went to their individual rooms.
On the other hand, after a minute of idle chatter with James, Lucian was sitting cross-legged on his room's bed.
[Host, although the previous Transcendent Chefs rested now and then, you are merely a fledgling Mortal Chef. What gave you the audacity to rest?]
Suddenly, as Lucian was pondering what the interesting event James repeatedly mentioned could be, the solemn robotic voice of the System sounded in his mind.
[What the?] Lucian was speechless. [System, is this some kind of mistake? I traveled to Harmony City to attend the Auction to acquire Magical Beasts for the Spatial Farm! How does that count as relaxing?]
However, the System merely ignored him. It was at its wit's end after not being able to create the perfect Quest to reward its Host with the Celestium Shard. Its Host was too untrusting of everyone. Therefore, it decided to be shameless and watch the aftermath.
<{Quest Part 1: Table-side cooking.}>
<{Description: More information will be given at the designated time.}>
<{Designated time:: 4 Pm}>
<{Reward: ???}>
As Lucian read the information projected in his mind, he was speechless.
What kind of Quest did the System assign him? It wanted him to cook table-side at the so-called interesting event.
As though predicting its Host's next word, the System said in a depressed tone, [Host, please do not make it difficult for me. I am just as clueless as you are.]
After hearing what the System had to say about the sudden Quest, Lucian sighed and closed his eyes.
[Fine. I will wait to receive the second part of the Quest.]
Minutes passed, until it was time to depart.

Back in Celeres Universe's Immortal Hell, Zagum was sat on a throne made of bones with his eyes closed. He looked the very definition of peaceful; however, if one looked closely, his eyelids were constantly twitching with annoyance.
'Where are the Ferrymen? What the Hell is taking them so long?'
The Celeres Universe was gigantic, containing innumerable galaxies, each harboring solar systems. Within the solar systems, lay stars of varying sizes and ages, planets brimming with potential, moons orbiting celestial bodies, asteroids aimlessly drifting through space, and countless unknowns that have yet to be discovered.
However, there was only one Immortal Hell for all Immortal Sinners in this Universe. That meant the Shore of the Beginning would fill up in less than a day or sometimes the latest in two days.
In Zagum's four centuries as the First Layer Baron, he had never encountered the Ferrymen ever being late. In fact, because he was the weakest Baron, thus tasked with introducing the Sinners to Hell, he had done his research into the Ferrymen and knew just how diligent they were in their work. They did not require sleep, rest, nutrition, or even Mana to operate.
They have worked tirelessly since their creation.
Despite, Zagum's growing annoyance and curiosity he did not leave to investigate what was taking them so long. Even he was frightened by the Sea of Sins. The place where he stood was the furthest he could go before being forced to fall unconscious. If he were to fall unconscious while above the Sea of Sins, he would no doubt be eaten by the Sinful Magical Beasts down below.

"Wow! There's such a long line of people!" Lily was amazed as she looked at the winding queue. The queue was so long she could not even see where it led to even with her Mana Sense. During her inspection, she could not help but ask curiously, "Also, why is everyone wearing black clothes?"
"Are we going to a party?" Lily added. Back when she was still the Young Mistress of the Blackthorne Family, she had been to a party in which all the guests invited wore the same clothes. She wondered if they were attending the same kind of party.
Although Lily's voice had not been loud, it was still heard by the people, who were close to them.
"Who's this old woman?"
"She sounds so old, yet she's still a country bumpkin."
"Could it be that she purposefully spoke to mock the Wang Family?"
"Tch! Mocking the dead? How low!"
"The group she's with is probably just like her. We should be careful, lest we anger the Wang Family!"
The people there glared disgustingly at her and the group she was with. A few behind Lucian and his group even switched places with the people behind them to avoid being labeled as part of their group.
Unbeknownst to them, one of the people they mocked and distanced themselves from, was James Orchard. However, even though he was from the Orchard Family and famous in Harmony City, that did not mean everyone knew what he looked like.
If the influential people still remained in Harmony City, such a display of mockery would not have occurred.
On the other hand, hearing their words, Garrett and Fenwick frowned. Their mocking words toward Lily did not sit well with them.
'Humph, why do they have to bully Lily? If Lily doesn't know, she doesn't know!' Lily pouted with her hands on her hips.
Lucian; on the other hand, looked at James for an explanation. He had an inkling of why they were wearing black and what kind of event they were attending. However, no matter which angle he looked at it from, it did not seem interesting to him one bit.
"A party? Hahaha." James chuckled softly, then continued via Voice Transmission, [Miss, you aren't entirely incorrect in your conjecture. What is a party?]

Although James asked them, he continued, answering his own question, [It's a social gathering of invited guests, involving eating, drinking, and entertainment. And let me tell you, there will definitely be food and drinks at this event, especially entertainment. The whole of Harmony City and even the neighboring towns and cities will be thoroughly entertained once the news spreads to them.]
The more James spoke, the more excited he became. His voice was the complete opposite of the somber atmosphere surrounding them. It was as though he was waiting in line to attend a wedding rather than a funeral.
[You have a twisted mind, Sir James.] Hervy said to him after learning from the nearby people they were lined up to participate in a funeral. [This is the first time I've heard someone saying a party is similar to a funeral.]
[And he's even excited to go there.] Lucian added. Despite saying that, Lucian did not care. He was here solely for the Quest. Otherwise, he would have remained in James' mansion until the Auction House opened.
[Haha, how can I not? You guys will understand in due time. This will definitely be an interesting experience!] James was adamant, leaving the others speechless and wondering how a funeral could be interesting.
