Primordial Draconic Incubus With A Gourmet Chef System

Chapter 208: Talk Of The City

It was not every day someone like Lucian burst onto the scene, and certainly not in such a grand fashion.

Cooking and selling Garlic Butter and Herb Popcorn at a funeral, and his latest hit, the Siren's Melody Poached Eggs, took the auction by storm.

In fact, Lucian was the first.

Anyone fortunate enough to taste or even smell the fragrant aroma now knew of his superior culinary skills compared to the previous titans, Dragon's Feast Restaurant.

Even more so, the city's bards were the main contributors to Lucian's fame. Many of them had not even been present at the auction, but that did not stop them from singing songs and dramatically reenacting his cooking process.

According to them, Lucian had waved his hands like a Mage casting Skills, and each Skill produced a mouth-watering Siren's Melody Poached Egg. It was dramatic and flashy, completely different from reality, yet the public ate it up.

And it was not just the food.

Being the personal chef of James Orchard only further boosted Lucian's image in everyone's minds.

In just an hour, Lucian was the talk of the city.

"That's him, isn't it? The one from the auction." A young man whispered to his companion, while his eyes full of admiration followed Lucian as he and his two companions passed by.

"The chef who created the Garlic Butter And Herb Popcorn and the Siren's Melody Poached Egg! They say his cooking brought people to tears." A woman squealed excitedly while trying not to stare too blatantly at the young man, but she found it hard.

"Tears? Forget tears. They said his food increased the Mana Pools of all the Mages who ate it." A street vendor replied.

"If only I didn't go to work at the mines yesterday and instead went to the auction." Someone grumbled.

"And do what there? Do you think someone like you can afford Chef Lucian's food?" His friend chuckled.

"So what? Aren't you the same as me? And when did I say I would order his Siren's Melody Poached Egg? I would have been satisfied with just breathing in the fragrant aroma." The first man countered.

Lucian was indifferent to their gazes and words. He did not care for fame or the admiration of others.

Fame was a distraction. Receiving too much fame could even make the most headstrong Mages fall. Some even called fame a Sin. Lucian was one of such people.

Lucian's focus was on growing stronger. That was what mattered to him.

And that was exactly what he planned to do. It was the main driving force, which led him to make the decision to stay in Harmony City.

Lucian was too weak. He knew that from the very beginning, and the notion solidified even further after he learned of Garm and the other Mana King Realm Mage's existence. Not to mention the dozen or so Mana Soul Realm Mages and the Mages weaker than them, waiting to enter the Secret Realm.

Lucian's strength as a Mana Condensation Realm Mage was insufficient against them, even with his Primordial Draconic Incubus Bloodline supporting him.

If the truth about his real Mage Rank became known — that he was not some apex Mage — it would not take long for opportunistic Mages to appear at the doorstep of his restaurant. He would be lucky if they killed him outright. However, the worst-case scenario — the outcome that would be sure to befall him — would be enslavement. Forced to swear an eternal Oath, then exploited for his culinary skills.

It was a fate worse than death.

Even the most emotionless, ruthless, and uncaring individuals had an Achilles Heel.

Those who disagreed with that statement were merely lying to hide their weakness.

Ancestral God Lucian, Dao Immortal Lucian, Chef Lucian, and now the current Lucian — the fusion of the three Souls — all had an Achilles Heel.

Whether Lucian wanted to or not, his gaze unconsciously shifted to the masked young girl beside him. She skipped along, giggling, and even though he could not see her eyes, the way her masked face moved told him she was taking in everything with boundless curiosity.

'Like a bird set free after years in a cage,' Lucian thought. 'I won't allow her to be caged.'

Lucian refused to let that happen.

In this life, Lily was his Achilles Heel. As for Luna, Sylvia, and Isabella, they were experienced and strong enough to run rampant in the Immortal Plane.

Therefore, as tempting as the Secret Realm was, it was far too dangerous for the current him to enter.

Lucian could not afford to enter it yet. Not without the strength to defend himself and those he cared about.

Moreover, Lucian had the time to wait. He possessed the only 'key' that would enable the others to enter. Without him, it was impossible for them to enter.

A few minutes of walking later, the group finally arrived before the gates of James' mansion.

The guards stationed around the mansion gave them brief, respectful glances before continuing their patrol. Prior to the group's arrival, they had already been informed by Sir Carlton they would be receiving esteemed guests.

Meanwhile, directly in front of the gates stood two more guards, who bowed upon seeing the group's arrival.

"Welcome back to the Orchard Mansion, Chef Lucian." The guard on the left greeted them. "Sir Carlton is-"

Before they could explain Sir Carlton's whereabouts, hurried footsteps sounded from the other side of the gates. With each footstep, the owner grew closer.

"Senior, Young Miss, and Sir Duan welcome to the Orchard Mansion." Carlton's excited voice came from the other side as the gates slowly opened, revealing his figure. "Please come inside. I have already prepared your living arrangements. Please make yourselves at home."

Now that Duan Mu had become Lucian's disciple, his status underwent a dramatic transformation. Elevated from the crippled nobody that he used to be, to the disciple of a godly chef.

The difference between his old life and his new one was vastly different.
