Chapter 3: Moonveil -Chapter 3

Some time had passed since the nightmare had ended…

Aelan stood in the inner courtyard of the estate, gripping the Azure Blade—a Transcendent-level memory sword. Opposite him, moving with the grace of a dancing shadow, was his sister—Monveil. Her snow-white hair fluttered in the wind, and her silver eyes reflected the moonlight, even when there was none in the sky. In her hands was an elegant rapier, its polished blade gleaming.

Their duel was almost silent. Only the clash of steel and the crunch of gravel beneath their feet disturbed the stillness. Aelan attacked first, but his strikes never found their mark. Monveil moved with terrifying precision, anticipating his actions a fraction of a second before he made them. She sidestepped a direct thrust, deftly stepped aside, and countered—the tip of her blade flashed toward his throat. At the last moment, Aelan managed to parry, but the force of impact made him take a step back.

"Too slow, little brother," Monveil smirked, spinning her rapier playfully in her hand.

Aelan gritted his teeth and tightened his grip on his sword. The Azure Blade glowed with a soft blue light, reacting to his determination. He lunged forward, launching a series of rapid strikes, but Monveil evaded each one. Her movements were fluid, like a flowing stream, while his attacks felt heavy and predictable.

At some point, he realized his mistake—he had fallen into her rhythm, forgetting his own. And then he hesitated—only for a second, but it was enough. Monveil stepped in sharply, spun on her heel, and delivered a precise, effortless strike to his chest. He felt the tip of her rapier glide across the fabric of his shirt, leaving a faint cut.

His sword fell from his hands, and he collapsed onto his back, breathing heavily.

"I've lost again…" he muttered, closing his eyes in frustration.

Monveil leaned over him, a mischievous smile on her lips.

"Don't be too upset, brother. You never stood a chance," she teased.

Aelan sighed and covered his eyes with one hand.

"Fair enough…"

Monveil straightened up, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Go clean yourself up. You're leaving for the Academy of the Awakened today."

Aelan glanced at her and exhaled.

Hot water cascaded over his body, washing away the exhaustion. He closed his eyes and opened the spell system.

Aelan held his breath, studying the Oblivion attribute.

-Why is there no description? What does this mean?-

Stepping out of the shower, he absentmindedly pulled on his robe and made his way to his room. As he opened the door, he was met with an unexpected sight. Monveil stood by his bed, her arms crossed.

"Ah, sister. Do you need something from me?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Monveil simply gestured toward the bed, signaling him to come closer. Aelan hesitated for a moment before taking a few cautious steps forward, stopping in front of her.

She looked at him with a faint smile.

"Mother said she's proud of you."

A warm wave spread through Aelan's chest. Ki Song rarely expressed her emotions. Hearing such words from her, even through his sister, meant a lot to him. He smiled and nodded.

"Thank you, Monveil. That means a lot to me."

Monveil only nodded in response, her silver eyes glinting softly in the warm light.

She didn't say another word.

In that moment, the cloak she had been wearing vanished—she had recalled her Memory. She now stood in nothing but her undergarments. Her skin was as pale as ivory, and her hair, like the sky itself…

At the same moment, Aelan's robe slipped from his shoulders on its own, and he found himself on the bed…
