Proyect: Bland King - Ayanokouji Kiyotaka en Blue Lock

Chapter 23: Chapter 22: The Excitement Soccer Brings

Kiyotaka sent a pass over to Shido who immediately returned it over to Kiyotaka. They were going to build up an attack from scratch instead of their usual approach of a quick, two-hit counter.

Now, he was head-to-head against Loki who accelerated right up to Kiyotaka's potential passing lanes.

Kiyotaka: (Already starting off strong?)

He didn't care. Kiyotaka sent over the ball towards Shido once again but Loki changed directions and was about to cleanly intercept the pass.

Instead, Aryu, with his long feet, came in between Loki and Shido, sending it over once again to Kiyotaka.

Aryu: You can't have all the glam!

Kiyotaka: You can be useful. Not bad, slender man.

Shido attempts again to rush forward but is stopped after strong pressure from Dada Silva.

Shido: Bastard, get out of my way! I need my explosion!

But instead of pressing the ball forward, Kiyotaka sent a back heel pass to Aryu and he changed his route to peel off Loki from the middle. This gave Aryu some free space but was about to be covered up by the Scion of Real Madrid, Leonardo Luna.

Leonardo Luna: You're finally involving someone else other than Shido? I'll give you credit for shock value, but it just means you gave the ball away to an insignificant scrub.

Kiyotaka didn't seem to mind his words and began to work on Loki, using his acceleration and shoulder strength to break through and get an opening for a quick pass.

However, an unexpected player arose. Dada Silva charged forward and left Shido alone and was instead defended by Adam Blake.

Dada Silva: I'm not just gonna wait until you take the ball away from these kids, Loki. I'm going straight for the money!

Loki sighed. Kiyotaka's eyes widened.

Kiyotaka: Thank you. Now I can finally put that large frame of yours to use.

Peeling off Loki slightly, Kiyotaka rolled right around Dada Silva's body like slime. And because he was in front of Loki, Kiyotaka gained almost two free seconds of time to run forward.

Aryu finally released a pass that was tipped by Leonardo Luna but it didn't matter much. Kiyotaka was still able to trap the ball perfectly in stride.

Shido, now anticipating the pass, performed an in-and-out cut while stopping and starting at top speeds to battle around Adam Blake's overwhelming presence. He now had a chance to respond to Kiyotaka's incoming pass.

Without even batting an eye, and before anyone else attempted to steal the ball from him, Kiyotaka struck the ball perfectly through the middle and it landed in Shido's range.

Shido: It's here!

Adam Blake: Who said I'd let you experience your 'so-called' explosion?

But Shido didn't care. He used his left leg and hit it with effect so it would curve with power in the top uprights.

Adam Blake: Well, I'll be damned.

The ball was now seconds away from tying the game.

Pablo: Not a bad shot but it needed to be a direct shot. You lost the moment you trapped it, tan demon.

Right before his very eyes, Pablo had perfectly controlled the shot and started their counterattack.

Now infuriated, Shido ran back and took on Pablo on his own.

Shido: You think you can just steal my explosion and get away with it, little cutie pie? I'm gonna send you back to your mommy's house so you can play your dress up and model like a good little bitch.

Adam Blake started laughing while running from behind Shido.

Adam Blake: You should've just kept your mouth shut, kid. He's not called the freckled narcissist for nothing.

As Pablo approached, he seemed to move in slow motion. Shido took the bait and tried to take the ball from under his feet.

In a single spin, Pablo dribbled the ball right through Shido's legs, crossed forward, doubled down, and split through his right side. The array of moves left Shido to pick his head up from the grass.

Pablo stuck out his tongue.

Pablo: Call me cutie pie again dipshit and I'll bury you.

Kiyotaka and Aryu came to assist but Pablo was too infuriated to give the pair anything less than his all.

He broke down Aryu in a matter of seconds and went forward to do the same to Kiyotaka. He studied his calculated movements and dribbling scheme but every time the sequence began, the tempo changed. It was impossible to get a beat.

Kiyotaka: (His dribbling reminds me most of those videos I saw of Messi. Well, he is from Argentina.)

He feinted with his left foot and did an acrobatic rollover spin to his right, causing Kiyotaka's body to shift in the opposite direction.

Pablo skated right through Kiyotaka and was met by Raichi.

Raichi: Do you really think I'm gonna let you pull off a solo goal? You're my assignment, buddy-

Stepping right over him utilizing a double feint move through his legs, Pablo was now left alone in the penalty area.

Kiyotaka: I found you.

The peering eyes of Kiyotaka emerged from Pablo's shadow. Kiyotaka was completely beaten from the initial dribble but was able to recover and quickly give chase due to his acceleration and speed. He stuck out his right foot, limiting Pablo's shooting options.

Pablo sighed.

Pablo: Not bad. But I can just settle for an assist, you know?

Retracting the ball back instantly, Pablo side-backheeled it to his right, giving it off to... Dada Silva.

Dada Silva: HAHAHA!!! I TOLD YOU I GET SECOND PICKINGS!

*SMASH*

The ball sailed straight in the net with little to no trouble.

Blue Lock [1] - World Five [3]

Igarashi, who was standing around on the outside looking in, now fell to his knees in despair.

Igarashi: These guys.... they're too good... we're done for...

Kiyotaka took the ball from the net and sighed.

Aryu: What are you thinking, Kiyotaka-sama?

Kiyotaka: I'm at odds right now.

Aryu: Hm?

He started to clench the ball with incredible strength.

Kiyotaka: I don't know which emotion is overpowering the other: anger, or excitement.

He looked across the pitch and saw the World Five calmly talking to one another.

Kiyotaka: Shido...

Shido: Yeah?

Kiyotaka: Open the path for me. I'm going to get one goal back.

Igarashi: Eh?! Can't you give it a rest and stop pretending to be cool and all?! You're just like me, ranked at the bottom?! You think we're any good against them?

Kiyotaka: It's fine Igarashi. If that's how you feel, you can leave.

Igarashi: Huh?

Kiyotaka's eyes started to drip blood and his golden aura overflowed from his eyes. He was locked in.

Kiyotaka: You're no longer a part of the team. Get out of my sight.

He marched forward towards the center of the pitch to check the ball. In an instant, his perfect eyes scanned his entire surroundings.

Kiyotaka had returned to his flow.

But this time, it was for a different objective.

Now, he wanted to embarrass the World Five... all on his own!

...

...

...

Shido: (He's already back into that state? He's evolving right before my eyes. Isn't that amazing? The bigger the prey, the stronger the predator. And the juicier the prize, hehehehe....)

Kiyotaka checked the ball for himself and took off on his own.

Loki, as per usual, was his primary defender. And this time, once again, he closed the distance using his God-given speed.

Loki: You were much better against Rin in the final play of that match than right now. Is the difference really on the concept of flow? I've never had the pleasure of experiencing it myself. But it could also be imaginat-

*DASH*

Speeding right past Loki, Kiyotaka had equaled Loki's godspeed. In this state of total concentration, as long as the trick is in your arsenal, flow will bring it out. It brings out all the potential you can muster the deeper inside you go.

Specifically in this case, Kiyotaka's body simply went past the usual 60 percent exertion of muscles in the body and dialed it up to 80 percent. The muscles in his knees, calves, and thighs released built-up potential energy into kinetic energy that finally equaled Loki's speed.

Or it could do more. Only time would tell.

Kiyotaka now completely cleared the still surprised Loki who instinctively knew he needed to recover and chase after his fellow speedster.

Aryu, Raichi, and Shido took the initiative and bombarded the outside flanks of the field to scatter away the potential help defenders. Loki still needed to make another 3 feet of ground if he was going to stop Kiyotaka's advance.

Shido: (He's much faster than before! Flow's the only answer. The genius is already finding out how to tap into it. Little by little, he'll be able to stay in Flow for a whole game!)

However, since Igarashi was completely useless and taking up space in the back of the pitch, there was still one other obstacle for Kiyotaka's goal: Leonardo Luna, the Scion of Madrid.

Leonardo Luna: Where'd that speed come from? You definitely weren't this fast when you came into the match...

Kiyotaka's eyes never stopped moving. Each and every millisecond, his eyes registered new information, better angles for shooting, passing lanes, dribbling patterns, his copied techniques.

He became all seeing and all knowing. Not one fabric of information left his sight. He analyzed even the amount of sweat droplets that streamed down Shido's neck.

And because everything was instantaneous, he looked like a genius in real time.

While Loki lagged from behind, Luna firmly challenged him right then and now to a duel.

The two met head-to-head, with a chance at a second goal close at hand.

Kiyotaka dashed ahead first and spun around into a roulette but was stopped quickly by Luna.

Luna: You'll have to be more creativ-

Kiyotaka: 3...

With multiple stepovers and a slight roll to the left, Kiyotaka continued mumbling to himself.

Luna: (What is he saying?)

Kiyotaka: 2...

He retracted his dribble and double feinted to open up the left side.

Leonardo Luna: So you wanted to get through my weak side, not bad.

Kiyotaka: 1...

Loki, a man hellbent to stop Kiyotaka after witnessing his comparable speed, appeared from his shadow.

Kiyotaka: 0...

And just as he envisioned, since he checked the ball from the middle of the field, Kiyotaka rainbow flicked it up in the air, ahead of Luna.

Luna: (What? But I could just control-)

In a swift reflex, Kiyotaka spun around Luna and glided off the ground and perfectly controlled the ball. The final piece of the puzzle, was Loki accidently hitting Luna as the two collided.

With the goal now in sight, Kiyotaka prepared to shoot.

Dada Silva saw this and he again peeled off Shido to block the shot.

Of course, this was already accounted for. Mid-air, Ayanokouji faked his kick.

Dada Silva: (Huh? A feint?)

Just as the ball was about to touch the ground, Kiyotaka spun around with his other leg and smashed it into the top right corner.

Blue Lock [2] - World Five [3]

Kiyotaka fell harshly on the ground but put himself together and got up. Loki and Luna were already up.

Leonardo Luna's smile now seemed to be slight irritation and Loki seemed to smile even wider.

Loki: (He's even better than I thought.)

Since Kiyotaka first entered flow in this match, he predicted the events to follow with absolute precision. And because he had the physical abilities and technique to execute, it was done flawlessly. A true masterpiece.

Shido, Raichi, and Aryu ran over to Kiyotaka after witnessing his super goal.

...

In their observatory room, Ego and Anri saw the masterful display firsthand.

Anri: My.... god. Did he just...

Ego: He did. He embarrassed them, would you look at that? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

He started to laugh and almost fall right out of his seat.

Anri-chan: I don't understand. Speed is something you're inherently born with. Sure you can train it and it can grow all the same but through training, not during a match?! How did he match Loki's speed?!

Ego smiled.

Ego: Simple, he just used more of his body than a normal human being can. I'd have to say 80 percent. If it was 100, we'd be picking up pieces of his broken legs off the ground right now. I'd expect nothing less from their acclaimed masterpiece. This might be the first time he's had to overexert himself to such an extent.

Anri-chan was dumbfounded.

Ego: His entire attack was genius from start to finish. He intentionally used a steady burst of speed at his new maxed sprint in order to build up enough of a cushion on Loki so he could set Leonardo Luna up for the climax. Every other player would have their hands full defending another player and wouldn't interfere. Each and every dribbling move Kiyotaka used was to distract Luna enough that he wouldn't expect something overhead. And by timing his rainbow flick with Loki's impending presence, he could get out of the way and into the air before even being touched. Loki collided with Luna and Kiyotaka had an open goal-

Anri-chan: But then what about Dada Silva?

Ego sighed.

Ego: I was getting to that. From a previous play, he noticed that troll's tendency to drop back and peel away from Shido. The last time he did that, his shot got blocked. This time, he fooled him by playing another one of that masterpiece's talents: He was born ambidextrous. He might have known that from previous matches but surely couldn't have reacted in time based on the speed, positioning and power the shot held. It was truly perfect.

Anri-chan: So what do you think happens now?

Ego sighed and held out his hands in total surprise.

Ego: I don't know. I thought they would have lost 5-1 by now.

Anri-chan: Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. He broke through and showed the others it was possible, enhancing their morale. That's what a striker does, right Ego?

Ego: I would give you credit, Anri-chan, but turning something from zero to one was the first selection's lesson, not the second selection.

Anri, blushed slightly from embarrassment.

Anri-chan: (This guy...)

...

Aryu: Taking on a team of world stars on your own and scoring... I almost fainted from the glam.

Raichi: We're not dead yet. We just need to stop them and counterattack to make this game level!

Shido: Damn, shark-teeth, you're talking facts!

Kiyotaka: (This feels incredible. For the first time in my life, I'm doing something because I am passionate in doing it.)

On the other side, Dada Silva started laughing.

Dada Silva: HAHAHAHA!!! That brat got you two good, didn't he?

Loki smiled.

Loki: Yeah he got us, but didn't his shot pass right through you?

This pissed Dada Silva off.

Dada Silva: I wouldn't have had to defend that damn shot if the 'godsprinter' and 'Scion' could defend him properly.

Leonardo Luna: I was wrong. I didn't think the Japanese could produce a player like that. Isn't he only 16?

Adam Blake: Was he hiding his speed before? It makes no sense otherwise why he was able to match your speed, Loki.

Loki: No, he definitely was slower than me prior to the match.

Pablo: Maybe he gets stronger when the game gets more intense.

Leonardo Luna: But how do you get faster through a match?

Dada Silva: Who da fuck cares? Let's kill off these Japanese. They're getting too cocky.

After his team celebrated with Kiyotaka, the World Five were ready to check the ball from the midfield.

Kiyotaka, still in flow, processed the information presented to himself and readied himself.

Loki passed the ball to... Pablo Cavasos, who dribbled up until meeting Raichi. He pressed his upper body on him and prevented Pablo from gaining enough space to perform his dribbling moves.

Raichi: Come on-

Or so he thought. Pablo feinted going right and flicked the ball off both feet right through Raichi's legs. The assault didn't end there. He pulled back, allowing Raichi to recover and charge forward again only to then dash through the opening through his legs, executing him.

As if by instinct, Kiyotaka sped up to Pablo with Loki's speed to intercept him.

Pablo: I'm not going to try against an ugly guy like you.

He sent a back heel to... Adam Blake who was following behind Pablo and who peeled off Aryu rather easily.

Adam Blake: Out of the way.

Kiyotaka spun around and hit Adam Blake on the side of his body, stopping him in place.

Adam Blake: (He's like a brick wall.)

Seeing no means to go through, Adam Blake passed wide to Leonardo Luna who dribbled right past the lifeless Igarashi and into open field.

Kiyotaka peeled off from Adam Blake and ran towards Leonardo Luna.

Loki: I can't let you pass, Kiyotaka. Not this time.

Loki met his advance head on, using his shoulder and long arms to block out Kiyotaka from interfering with Luna.

Shido extended his right leg to defend but Luna stopped and spun around with a roulette, clearing the way.

Meanwhile, Kiyotaka sped and decelerated in different patterns in an attempt to bypass Loki but to no avail. Now that he knew of Kiyotaka's potential, he wasn't going to let him go.

An array of information processed instantly for Kiyotaka and he decided to use Dada Silva to get open. He just needed them to defend long enough for him to pull it off.

Kiyotaka now went full speed towards Dada Silva, confusing Loki. He followed along and made every attempt so he wouldn't cut through.

Luna was about to attempt a shot when Aryu and Raichi jumbled through and tried to wrest the ball away but he passed a sideway pass to Adam Blake who was now open.

Adam Blake: Thanks, Scion.

He sped past both Aryu and Raichi, itching into the penalty area. The World Five were now in complete sync.

In that moment, Kiyotaka arrived at Dada Silva and peeled around him, using him as a mere obstacle. He took the challenge and tried to block his way. But once again, Kiyotaka was able to squeeze and peel through, misdirecting Loki to get a second of space between the two.

Now, all Adam Blake could sense, was the presence of the lifeform known as Kiyotaka.

Adam Blake: You're not half-bad kid, but you're a bit delusional. We're not highschool kids. We're pros.

Before Kiyotaka could react, Pablo Cavasos snatched the ball right from Adam Blake's feet and spun right around Kiyotaka, softly kicking the ball in the bottom corner of the net.

Blue Lock [2] - World Five [4]

...

Kiyotaka sighed and wiped his forehead and hair. Igarashi still looked dead inside, like a zombie. Aryu and Raichi seemed slightly disappointed.

Meanwhile, Shido was looking up. Kiyotaka could tell he was annoyed.

Shido: They're not letting me get through, hehe. That fucking ogre is really annoying. He's ruining my explosions. Your solo goal got me so fucking jealous if I'm being honest. I want a piece of that explosion.

Kiyotaka: Well then ignore him. You're at your very best when you ignore everything around you and focus on arriving at the pinpoint position for your goal. The next step to our chemical reaction... is for us to thread a connection the opposing team can't even fathom until it's already happened. That's exactly what we should be striving for. A World-Class connection.

Shido: I'm with ya there but that means you'll have to thread that pass even better than before and I don't know if your passes can get even better.

Kiyotaka: Who do you think I am?

Shido smiled.

Shido: Hehehe, sorry I asked.

Kiyotaka: Now's the time to evolve. Focus your entire being in this game and together, we'll close the gap. You're the reason I'm like this, meathead. So take responsibility.

Checking the ball from the halfway line, Kiyotaka and Shido's eyes met, both of them were now fully concentrated.

The excitement the two shared, and their desperation to win, awakened the two once again... closer and closer into the true realm of flow.

Let the greatest show in Blue Lock begin.
