Chapter 373: Blackened Junior Sister (78)
The sight of the female protagonist, Qing Xi, displaying a pathetic behavior while begging her with so much desperation was most definitely the highlight of her (Yue Ran's) day.
"You… you…!" Jian Wen Xiu exclaimed with a stammer, seemingly gone speechless because of Qing Xi's abrupt change of face and demeanor. "Qing Xi, you… you are crazy!"
Her change of behavior was simply startling!
"You are the one who is crazy," Qing Xi snarled back fiercely. "Are you going to say that you have no idea of what I am talking about at all? That I am speaking nonsense? Heh," she sneered. "Your skin is really thick! Everyone is aware that your Sky Breeze Sect collects taxes in private and requests for farmers to hand over their crops to you as collateral to keep them safe!" She barked. "As a human, you are worse than a beast! All I had to do was blink at you, and in an instant, you would have forgotten about the junior sister who you had brought up since childhood!"
Qing Xi angrily rebuked the young man with a gloom shrouding her face. Jiang Wen Xiu, who was receiving a scolding, was taken aback. After doing so, Qing Xi dared herself to take a sneak peek at Yue Ran to read her face. Seeing that the other party seemed to be in a pleasant mood, Qing Xi felt relieved and reproved Jiang Wen Xiu more aggressively.
Yue Ran: What a fantastic performance! It was very much entertaining to see the main characters, both male and female, tearing the faces of one another. It would feel even better if I had snacks to eat, though. A mix of caramel and cheese-flavored popcorn would be a great snack at this time.
"You are a monster," Qing Xi yelled out with renewed vigor. "You senior and junior brothers and sisters of the Sky Breeze Sect are all despicable, vile individuals! And all of your bad habits are hard to change!"
"Enough!" Jiang Wen Xiu responded with a roar. "You must have lost your mind!"
"I am very sound physically and mentally!" Qing Xi hurled back. "You are the one who has lost your mind!"
Yue Ran watched the dramatic conflict with interest. It was too bad that all the dramas had to end since she could not stay here for long.
She sighed. If she had more time and did not have to worry about the dangers around her, she would have wanted to watch as more chaos ensued following their dispute.
It was unfortunate that everyone around her, bar a few, were her enemies.
"All right, all right, stop making any more noise," Yue Ran said. "Keep the female one first. As for the male, kill him."
Yue Ran: The female protagonist would make a good entertainer.
Moreover, how could Yue Ran allow the female protagonist to die so simply after pulling so many tricks to go against her— or rather, the original body, who was now Yue Ran?
As soon as Yue Ran finished speaking, Cheng Mo raised his sword, its blade gleaming sharply and coldly in the moonlight. Jiang Wen Xiu was so scared that his whole body tensed up, tightening with fear, and he yelled with his eyes closed.
"No, don't!"
Jiang Wen Xiu was so frightened that his lower body turned wet. His shout was followed by a stabbing sound. However, the pain he pictured did not come. He opened his eyes cautiously and saw that Cheng Mo had pierced himself in the side of his body with a sword.
Jiang Wen Xiu: ?
Yue Ran: …
Is this the alleged "legendary" deed of righteousness? To choose to stab oneself first with a sword to atone a little for the sin that one was about to commit by choosing the lesser evil over the greater one.
"Wen Xiu, I must admit that I have underestimated this matter; I have underestimated the enemy," Cheng Mo said with regret. "If I had not been careless, things would not have progressed to this point." He closed his eyes unbearably. "At this moment, if I could exchange my life for the lives of so many people here, I would have ended my own life without hesitation in the blink of an eye." He let out a sigh before continuing, "As of right now, Wen Xiu, I hope that you can also do the same and sacrifice for the people."
It is all for the greater good. Cheng Mo silently added in his head.
"I am very sorry," Cheng Mo said, remorse and shame weighing heavily on his heart.
Cheng Mo drew out the long sword that had been thrust into his body, which was stained with his warm, scarlet blood. Jiang Wen Xiu yelped in panic. Just as he was about to make a getaway by flying up with his sword, he was promptly suppressed by an intense, crushing spiritual power and was forcefully frozen on the spot.
"No, no, no," Jiang Wen Xiu cried out as a wave of panic hit him. "I do not want to die! I apologize to you, Yue Ran! I am sorry, Yue Ran! I am truly a bastard, a monster! Please forgive me! I was wrong! I was wrong! I am sorry! I really am sorry! I was wrong!"
Jiang Wen Xiu shuddered and climbed to the bow of the boat and knocked his head hard in the direction of Yue Ran as if he felt no pain, fear driving his actions.
The young man's former noble appearance was all gone. His long, black hair was unkempt, and his saliva and snot were stuck on his face, looking remarkably unsightly.
Jiang Wen Xiu now had the appearance of a foolish, filthy beggar. He was no longer the handsome young man he used to be.
"Long Yuan, do you not think that he is funny?" Yue Ran inquired with mirth in her eyes and tone. "He even looks funny."
"This was the result..."
