Chapter 67: CHAPTER 66: Reunion
There were hundreds of villagers in the village. They were surrounded by Javier and the Wolves team.
The villagers only had tools as weapons, so they were easily eliminated.
The dead villagers quickly dissolved and disappeared. In fact, they were no longer human beings. After death, the virus no longer had a host, and so the corpses vanished.
Soon, the square was empty.
"Boss, there's no one else here. We found a bigger village nearby, and there should be more of these things there."
Javier nodded.
He left with his men. After they were gone, Ada appeared on the roof of a house.
"My dear Javier, we'll meet again soon."
At the same time—
Leon had just arrived at the village. After the two police officers abandoned him, terrified, Leon had no choice but to enter the village alone.
He arrived and found no one. There were only a few farm tools scattered on the ground and some shell casings. It seemed like a battle had taken place here.
Just as Leon was searching, violent gunshots and explosions were heard not far away. He quickly ran in the direction of the noise.
Javier and his team had arrived at the larger village. It was much bigger than the previous one, with even more villagers. One building, in particular, stood out—it was large and luxurious.
The villagers showed no fear, even under a hail of bullets. They advanced with their crude weapons. Seeing so many enemies, Javier and his team resorted to using grenades.
The villagers suffered heavy casualties—half of them were killed.
Suddenly, a bell rang in the distance. All the villagers stopped attacking and began walking toward the sound.
With no further resistance, Javier and the others entered the large building. The interior was much more luxurious than any ordinary villager's home. It even had carpets.
A portrait hung on the wall. Javier took a glance and saw that it was Sadler—the leader of Los Illuminados. According to intel from Krauser, Sadler was using parasites to control the people for his own agenda.
His goal in kidnapping Ashley was to inject her with the Las Plagas parasite, send her back to the United States, and then use her to control the President—eventually taking over the entire country.
It could be said that the plan was nearly perfect… if not for how stupid he was and all the holes in it. Unfortunately for him, he had crossed paths with Javier and a rebellious Leon. Sadler's plan was doomed to fail.
They all reached the second floor, where they encountered a tall man.
"You killed many of my citizens."
Javier looked at him.
This was the village mayor—Bitores Méndez. He, too, had been injected with the parasite. As he approached, the Wolves behind Javier opened fire, but they failed to kill him.
He sneered, raised his fist, and attempted to smash Javier's head. But to his surprise, Javier easily caught it.
He hadn't expected to be weaker than Javier. His fist was completely overpowered, and he couldn't break free. Javier waved his arm and threw Bitores out the window.
Everyone ran to the window. By then, Bitores had already disappeared. Suddenly, someone appeared in front of them. Instinctively, everyone raised their weapons.
"Put down your weapons," Javier ordered.
After hearing his command, they all lowered their guns.
"Ada, it's been a long time," Javier said as he looked at her.
Ada was wearing a cheongsam, her figure even more captivating than before.
[A/N: I'm lazy and wouldn't even know how to describe her outfit in the RE4 Remake. Anyway, I'm following the events of classic RE4 here.]
Javier's eyes widened when he saw her. Ada, noticing his gaze, took pride in her own charm.
She walked over to Javier and gently caressed his cheek. The members of the Wolves team wisely stepped into another room, leaving the two of them alone.
Javier wrapped his arms around Ada's waist and kissed her. The kiss lasted for a long time, and when they finally pulled apart, Ada's lips were red and slightly swollen.
"Ada, come with me. I can take care of you," Javier said, looking into her eyes.
"Not yet. My mission isn't over, and there are things I still can't help you with. I'm more useful in the shadows. Don't worry, I don't think we'll be apart for long."
She kissed Javier again, then jumped out the window and vanished.
Watching her leave, Javier didn't try to stop her. He knew that even if Ada walked away, it wouldn't be for long.
After saying goodbye to everyone and preparing to leave the village chief's house, they opened the door—and ran into Leon. The Wolves had previously met Leon in Raccoon City, and the two sides had clashed. Leon recognized them immediately.
After all, the Wolves were still wearing the same gear as before, except for the armbands, which had changed. Leon both hated and feared them.
Javier stepped forward.
"Leon, it's been a while."
Leon was visibly surprised to see him.
"Javier? Why are you here? And why are you with them?"
Javier smiled.
"Umbrella is finished. Since these guys were originally mercenaries, I'm their new boss now. So no—I'm not with Umbrella."
Leon let out a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
"Why are you here?" he asked.
"I was invited by Mr. Wilson, the Secretary of Defense, to rescue the president's kidnapped daughter. Looks like you're on the same mission, huh, Leon?"
Leon nodded at Javier's words. He took orders directly from the President, while Javier reported to the Secretary of Defense.
The two exchanged intel, but nothing useful came out of it. The villagers had mutated beyond reason—it was impossible to get answers from them.
Leon decided to head toward the church, while Javier went to the lake. From there, a boat could take them to the castle, where Ashley was likely being held.
They parted ways. Javier initially wanted Victor to go with Leon, but Leon refused.
He was already a super agent.
Javier and his team arrived at the lake, where several villagers were standing guard. They were quickly eliminated, and Javier's team began preparing to cross the lake by boat.
(End of Chapter)
"Hmph. If you really want to be useful, then entertain me, try to throw those pathetic power stones at me. Let's see if even your insolence can amuse a king."
