RE: Evolution System

Chapter 69: CHAPTER 68: Osmund Saddler

El Gigante looked at Javier, who remained motionless, and then charged at him furiously.

Not far from Javier, a landmine glowed with a red light. The giant didn't notice and stepped on it, triggering a massive explosion at his feet. Javier had already run to another location, and one of the giant's feet was blown to pieces.

The giant screamed and tried to get up, but one of his feet had been destroyed. As he stood, his mangled foot gave out, and he fell to the ground once more.

He looked at his severed foot lying on the ground, then collapsed again. Suddenly, Vector appeared behind him, jumped onto the giant's head, and stabbed him directly in the eye.

The giant screamed and tried to grab Vector, who jumped away, rolled to the side, and vanished again. Blood poured from the giant's wounded eye as he covered it with one hand.

The giant reached up and pulled the knife from his eye, then threw it to the ground. His remaining eye glowed with hatred as he stared at everyone.

In his rage, tentacles sprouted from his back. Then, the leg he had lost began to regenerate, although the eye did not recover.

More and more tentacles appeared on his back, and then his head exploded, replaced by the Plaga. At that moment, the giant was no longer himself—he had been fully taken over by the Plaga. It could be said that the giant was dead.

The monster stood up and attacked Javier and the others. They all dodged the whipping tentacles while continuing to fire. Javier pulled out a flamethrower.

Flames engulfed the creature's body. The parasite screamed, trying to escape the fire.

Explosives had been set up all around, and the parasite was thrown to the ground. Javier didn't give it a chance—he surrounded it with fire.

With the intense flames, the parasite-controlled giant didn't get up again and was reduced to a charred corpse. When they confirmed the monster was dead, everyone looked around cautiously.

The door they had entered through opened again, revealing a clear path ahead. Javier and the others left quickly, their minds focused on what lay ahead.

At that time, Ada was lying on an altar, her limbs bound.

No one paid attention to her. A villager was kneeling below the altar, muttering something under his breath, and then he stood up. His red eyes revealed he had been taken over by the Plaga.

Ada regained consciousness and looked around, realizing she was tied to a platform. She understood immediately that she had been captured. Then, she saw the villager approaching with a large axe in hand.

It seemed the villager intended to kill her—but Ada began to resist. The man stepped up to her, raised the axe emotionlessly, and attacked.

Just as Ada closed her eyes, thinking it was the end, the villager was decapitated. With a thud, the axe dropped to the ground.

Ada heard the sound, opened her eyes, and saw Krauser standing in front of her with a combat knife in hand. He gave her a faint smile, then cut the ropes binding her.

Ada stood and stared at him, puzzled as to why he had saved her.

"Don't get the wrong idea. Javier is my boss—and you're the boss's woman."

Ada hadn't expected Krauser to be one of Javier's subordinates. According to the intel Wesker had given her, Krauser had supposedly defected to Sadler. Unexpectedly, he was actually a spy sent by Javier.

"Your weapons are just outside. I'll go now—otherwise Sadler might grow suspicious." With that, Krauser left, and Ada quickly retrieved her equipment and followed.

Meanwhile, Leon and Luis had been captured and injected with the Plaga. They had just regained consciousness when a male villager attacked them with an axe. The two handled the situation with practiced ease.

Javier and the others eventually arrived at their destination: a village church. Inside, they discovered it was where the villagers worshipped Sadler.

A large portrait of Sadler hung in the center. As the group looked around, a noise came from upstairs. Javier swiftly jumped up.

He kicked open the door and was met with a candlestick flying toward him. He dodged it with ease.

"Don't come any closer!"

Javier looked and saw the attacker was a girl with short blonde hair wearing a school uniform with a short skirt.

Wasn't that Ashley?

Seeing how frightened she was, Javier approached gently. "Don't be afraid. We're here to rescue you," he said, squatting in front of her.

Hearing that, Ashley looked up with joy. "Did my father send you to rescue me?"

Javier smiled. "Of course. The government entrusted us with your rescue. My name is Javier Lee." Ashley threw her arms around him in relief.

Ashley was 20 years old and had a curvaceous figure. Javier took her hand and led her downstairs. The others immediately recognized her as the target of their mission.

"Boss, now that we've rescued her, should we get out of here?" Javier nodded. Just as they were about to leave the church, a group of people dressed in black appeared, surrounding them with crossbows in hand.

"You're not taking her anywhere," Sadler declared as he stepped forward, causing Ashley to hide behind Javier in fear.

"What's your purpose in kidnapping the president's daughter?" Javier asked.

"If you must know, my name is Osmund Sadler, the leader of this… religious community," Sadler replied.

He then pointed at Ashley, who was trembling behind Javier. "We gave her divine power. She'll return to us later." Upon hearing this, Ashley seemed to remember something.

"Javier, I think they injected something into my neck…" she said, holding her neck.

Sadler spread his arms. "We planted a seed in your body." Then he laughed.

"Hmph. If you really want to be useful, then entertain me, try to throw those pathetic power stones at me. Let's see if even your insolence can amuse a king."
