Rebirth as a Time Dragon: A DND Chronicle

Chapter 469: Chapter 469: Conquering the Divine Kingdom!

Outer Plane, Yoshuan of the Heroic Realm.

This is a plane belonging to heroes and glory.

Everywhere here is filled with wars symbolizing wrath and bravery.

This is an eternal battlefield.

Majestic mountains, bottomless fjords, ever-flowing rivers, and towering forests. In the Heroic Realm, every scene is grand and magnificent. The notable creatures here are known as 'Heroes'.

After the heroic figures from various planes die, their unowned souls are called to the Heroic Realm.

Covered by the rules of the Heroic Realm, these heroic souls become immortal heroes, without memories of their past lives, hot-blooded and warlike, endlessly fighting in the Heroic Realm.

Every inch of space in the Heroic Realm is filled with unimaginable life energy. Heroes who die tonight will resurrect at the first light of dawn tomorrow.

However, this life energy can only be absorbed by heroes.

Even gods find it difficult to harness.

Like many outer planes, the Heroic Realm is multilayered.

The Sky Garden, the Land of Fire, and the Dwarven World.

At the topmost layer, the Sky Garden, is the sanctuary for heroes. The Heroic Temple is located here, occupied by the God of Strength and Courage, Cord, who hosts an endless feast in the Heroic Temple.

The strongest heroes seek breakthroughs in the Heroic Temple, engaging in eternal battles, with even the God of Strength occasionally participating, suppressing his power to join the heroes in their battle frenzy.

At the lowest layer, the Dwarven World is an underground kingdom mainly ruled by dwarves and gnomes, and includes dark elves who worship the Abyssal Spider Queen, opposing each other.

The dragons' target is the middle layer of the Heroic Realm.

The second layer of the Heroic Realm—the Land of Fire.

From a high vantage point, one can see endless, undulating mountain ranges with countless volcanoes, like nodes in the mountain chains, varying in height and scattered across the landscape. Thick smoke fills the gaps between mountains, with the dense fire elemental energy coloring the space a dark red. Occasionally, threads of flame flash and disappear in the air.

Furthermore, surveying the entire Land of Fire reveals all mountain ranges converging from afar, ascending in height, ultimately forming the highest point in the Land of Fire, its center.

This area, composed of numerous mountain ranges, is called the Serpent's Spine.

Thousands of fire giant clans are distributed around the Serpent's Spine, living in countless castles, fortresses, and mountain cities, guarded by innumerable defenses.

At the highest peak of the Serpent's Spine, numerous impregnable rocky fortresses are surrounded, guarded by fire giant soldiers, housing devout fire giant maidens who have dedicated their bodies and souls to their god.

They wait eagerly, from their youth to old age, always anticipating the favor of the great Fire Giant God, Surtr.

Meanwhile, above the highest peak of the Serpent's Spine, in a space imperceptible to the naked eye, lies the divine kingdom of the Fire Giant God, Surtr.

Surtr currently resides in his divine kingdom, sitting quietly on his throne in the Molten Temple, surrounded by many volcanoes, burning fiercely and flowing with molten lava. Surtr's body blazes with fire, revealing his restless heart.

"My stockpile of military supplies for hundreds of thousands of years..."

Thinking about being coerced by the Stormlord to take out his treasured military supplies, Surtr felt agitated.

His stockpile was not ordinary military supplies but high-quality magical ore mined by his followers day and night from the mountains of the Land of Fire, then forged into at least legendary-level armor or weapons by dwarf master smiths through trades with the Dwarven World.

It even included many artifacts!

Surtr's expression darkened as he recalled the Stormlord's visit to the Serpent's Spine, speaking with a calm but indisputable tone, wrapped in the righteousness of their race.

"Surtr, my most powerful second brother, I am proud of you."

"You foresaw danger, secretly storing military supplies for our giant race since the Dragonfall War. Your dedication is truly incredible, and I deeply honor you for it."

"With your stockpile, our giants will suffer fewer casualties on the battlefield and put more pressure on the dragons."

"I will not forget your contribution. After the war, I will crown you as the King of War in the giant pantheon!"

Hearing these words, Surtr had no reason to refuse the Stormlord.

Unwillingness to provide the supplies would imply treason. As the giant's main god, the Stormlord had the right to punish him and forcibly take the supplies. In other words, from the moment the Stormlord targeted his stockpile, Surtr had no choice.

"Brother..."

Surtr's eyes flashed with rage as he murmured, but he dared not act out.

As the Fire Giant God, he appeared rational and calm, but his divine body coursed with fiery divine blood, inherently wild and savage. Thus, being pressured by the Stormlord naturally stirred rebellious anger.

"Losing these supplies, my plan to sweep and rule the Heroic Realm, gain the Heroic Crown, gather faith, and ascend to greater divine power is ruined!"

As his rage surged, volcanoes in his divine kingdom erupted, smoke billowed, and lava rained down. Fire giants living there felt their god's anger and bowed their heads in silent prayer.

He had stockpiled supplies because he wasn't content with his current state and sought to break through to greater divine power.

The Heroic Realm, as its name suggests, belongs to heroes.

Living here long-term, Surtr had deeply analyzed its rules and, by chance, received a response from the Heroic Realm, uncovering information: by leading an army and defeating all gods and godlike forces in the Heroic Realm, he would earn the Heroic Crown and become the Lord of Heroes.

The Heroic Realm's infinite life energy, the source of many heroes, would allow Surtr, if he conquered the realm and obtained the crown, to gain the faith of heroes and use it to break through to greater divine power.

This plan had a high chance of success.

The strongest gods in the Heroic Realm were of intermediate power, no match for Surtr. His divine rank was fifteen, just one barrier away from greater divine power, making him one of the strongest in the Heroic Realm.

However, starting the conquest meant he had to succeed in one go, without help from other gods. Losing his stockpile, Surtr doubted he could defeat all the other forces in the Heroic Realm.

"Crowned as the King of War?"

"Would I care for a meaningless title?"

His faith among the giants was already saturated; a title meant little.

"Brother... you noble, great one, you sacrificed my chance to ascend for a mere title!"

The more Surtr thought about it, the angrier he got, but he had no choice.

Though extremely dissatisfied with the Stormlord's actions, with the ongoing war against the dragons, Surtr knew causing trouble now would lead to the Stormlord punishing him, and the dragon gods wouldn't miss the chance to strike at a weakened giant god.

"Brother, you better remain great and at your peak, or... don't let me find an opportunity!"

Surtr chose to endure, hiding his anger.

It wasn't that Surtr was petty; any god would be upset if their plan to break through to greater divine power was thwarted.

Yet, unable to reveal the truth, fearing more gods coveting his chance, Surtr could only swallow his resentment.

If the Stormlord knew how important these supplies were to Surtr's ascension, he might not have forcibly taken them.

After all, another greater divine power in their pantheon would be desirable for the Stormlord.

However, any god had a chance to become the Lord of Heroes.

Given the Stormlord's style, he preferred keeping power in his own hands, and Surtr knew this well.

While Surtr continued his impotent rage.

Suddenly, the Land of Fire began to quake.

Space was massively torn apart, and towering dragon figures emerged, overlooking everything. Shadows from their wings covered the mountains, shaking violently under their divine and draconic might, with cracks spreading like lightning and branches.

In that moment, all gods in the Heroic Realm shuddered.

In the Sky Garden, the God of Strength and Courage, who was enjoying a battle with a group of heroes, squinted, his pupils constricting, focusing on the Land of Fire.

Unconsciously spreading divine power, the surrounding heroes were shattered into light fragments, dying on the spot.

Looking like a burly man, Cord quickly returned to his divine kingdom, sealing its barriers, and watched the Land of Fire with a heavy heart.

At this moment, the Land of Fire was shrouded in shadows, and the oppressive aura nearly solidified the space.

Metallic Dragon God Bahamut.

Immortal Dragon Queen Tiamat.

Ruby Dragon God Sadiwo.

Flame and Destruction Dragon God Karisk.

Justice and Arbitration Dragon God Lendys.

Death and Judgment Dragon God Krenipos.

Rune and Trickery Dragon Hel.

Life Dragon Tamara.

In the fierce war with the giant pantheon, the Time Dragon God, Wealth Dragon God, and Night Dragon had fallen. The remaining eight dragon gods, capable of combat, descended simultaneously.

At this moment, the Serpent's Spine was at the center of the dragon gods' encirclement.

The eight dragon gods' eyes flashed like lightning, locking onto the highest peak of the Serpent's Spine, their dragon eyes reflecting Surtr's divine kingdom.

Roars like divine thunder shot towards the sky.

The eight dragon gods opened their mouths simultaneously, aiming at Surtr's divine kingdom, unleashing ferocious dragon breaths without hesitation

.

Boom!

All dragon breaths hit Surtr's divine kingdom barriers.

Divine power surged like a storm.

Blinding light burst forth, shooting into the sky. The intense energy illuminated the entire Land of Fire, and even the surface of the Sky Garden and the ceiling of the Dwarven World shone with scorching white light. The dazzling brightness caused all observing creatures to wail, their eyes melted through, and their brains damaged, dying on the spot.

Even the gods in the Heroic Realm, watching the dragon gods' descent, felt pain in their eyes, their senses filled with white light, tears turning into crystalline divine tears.

When the gods focused their extraordinary powers on their eyes, their vision cleared again.

In just a moment, the once grand and majestic Serpent's Spine, a famous site in the Heroic Realm, had disappeared, leaving a terrifying crater spanning billions of kilometers, filled with deadly dragon breath remnants.

Looking up at the sky.

The space above the Serpent's Spine was shattered like a mirror, revealing a fiery kingdom.

A giant figure stood tall, enduring the assault of the eight dragon gods, quickly covered in wounds. Countless fire giant servants tried to aid their god but were crushed by the overwhelming dragon might before even getting close.

Each collision expanded the shattered sky, shaking the Land of Fire.

These scenes were burned into the gods' eyes.

"Damn, those calamities have come to the Land of Fire, and with all the dragon gods here, the giant gods will soon follow. Another massive divine war is about to erupt."

"Will the Land of Fire end up like the Glorious Forest?"

"There's no Beastlord here, and the Land of Fire is a middle layer, connected to the Sky Garden and Dwarven World. If it collapses, the entire Heroic Realm will be affected."

"I need to prepare to move my divine kingdom..."

At this moment, all gods in the Heroic Realm were anxious.

They couldn't help it, as they had a clear precedent.

The recent destruction of the Glorious Forest in the dragon-giant divine war was still fresh in their minds.

The Land of Fire was likely to follow suit.

Why not stop the dragons and giants?

In the gods' eyes, the dragons and giants had reached a state of mutual destruction, fighting madly and intensely. In just twenty years, many gods had fallen, shocking the spectators.

Gods value their lives, and massive casualties are rare.

Tracing back, only the wars between the gods and the primordials, and the wars between gods and demons of order and chaos, had more divine casualties than this war.

In comparison, the Glory War, which saw only one god fall, seemed like child's play.

After all, the enmity between dragons and elves wasn't to the point of mutual destruction, unlike with the giants.

Under these circumstances, unless the gods united, any single god trying to stop the dragons and giants would likely be dragged into the battle and torn apart by the frenzied pantheons.

"No, after the war ends, regardless of who wins, the gods must unite to restrain them. Otherwise, a hegemonic pantheon will rise again, oppressing us gods!"

The performance of the dragon and giant pantheons was too dazzling, unmatched by other pantheons.

After the war, if one side was utterly defeated and the other successfully consolidated their gains, they would undoubtedly become the strongest pantheon, bar none.

Therefore, at this moment, gods unwilling to face future oppression had the same thought.
