Chapter 54
After a peaceful night, Chu Muxi woke up early the next morning and stayed in a daze on the bed. After a while, he remembered that he was not on the central star but on the resource star.
He patted his face, got off the bed, and packed up when he heard someone knocking on the door.
“Young Master Chu, are you awake?” It was Zhao Lei.
Chu Muxi replied, “I’m awake.” He strode over to open the door and saw Zhao Lei standing outside wearing a camouflage uniform, smiling with white teeth.
“Good morning, Young Master Chu,” Zhao Lei greeted with a smile, “The Marshal asked me to invite you to breakfast.”
Chu Muxi nodded, took a look at his white shirt and casual pants, and then glanced at Zhao Lei’s attire.
.
In the restaurant, when he saw Lu Junzhi already sitting there and noticed the man had finished exercising, he couldn’t help but blurt out, “Can you get me a camouflage uniform?”
If he planned to search for new energy sources later, leaving the aircraft would be inevitable. Unlike yesterday’s leisurely visit, if something happened, he didn’t want his white clothes to turn gray and dirty. Observing their attire, he realized it would be easier to move around in the jungle with camouflage.
“It’s all my fault not thinking of this. The clothes I brought are light-colored; they’d get dirty even with a few steps in the woods,” he admitted.
Lu Junzhi looked at him deeply and said, “I have a spare set.”
“That’s great. Can I borrow it first? I’ll be in your favor,” Chu Muxi said sincerely.
Lu Junzhi coughed and said, “It’s mine, no need to pay.”
Zhao Lei and the other two people at the restaurant stifled laughter. Chu Muxi looked confused, not understanding the reason for their amusement.
After breakfast, Lu Junzhi asked Zhao Lei to bring the brand-new camouflage uniform and handed it to Chu Muxi.
Chu Muxi carried the clothes back to his room, opened the package, and took out the new set of clothes, he was dumbfounded.
Only then did he realize that Lu Junzhi was almost 1.9 meters tall, while he, having just passed his adult ceremony, was only 1.76 meters. This height difference made him uncomfortable and a little ashamed.
“No matter, I’ll just wear it. Who’s afraid of whom? Huh!”
Luckily, he brought a pair of Martin boots that matched the camouflage uniform. The trousers were okay; with the belt on and tucked into the Martin boots, nothing was visible, though they were a bit loose.
Handling the shirt proved challenging; he didn’t even need to unbutton them, just slide them on. The key was the sleeves, reminiscent of costumes worn in ancient Chinese national operas. He speculated that if he encountered an interstellar beast, he could slap out one sleeve and defeat the creature.
“Why is he so tall? It’s ridiculous!” Chu Muxi muttered while rolling up the sleeves and adjusting the clothes in front of the mirror.
Looking at himself, he realized that this clothing originally belonged to Lu Junzhi, but now he was wearing it.
Although Lu Junzhi assured him the clothes were new, thinking about the owner made Chu Muxi’s face in the mirror gradually turn red.
“Ah ah ah, what are you thinking about! Stop! Don’t think about it!” Chu Muxi patted his face, waiting until his mood calmed down before opening the door and going out.
.
Outside the aircraft, Lu Junzhi was talking to Zhao Lei. The big man and the bald man next to him checked equipment.
Hearing footsteps, several people turned to look at him.
Lu Junzhi’s eyes darkened when he noticed Chu Muxi’s rolled-up sleeves.
Zhao Lei was stunned, then turned away, pretending not to see.
The bald man coughed, saying, “I’ll check over there,” and turned away.
Only the big man burst out laughing. Chu Muxi rolled his eyes.
While Lu Junzhi glanced at him, the big man covered his mouth, following the bald man.
Approaching Lu Junzhi, Chu Muxi half-complained, “I’m still growing, I’ll get taller in the future.”
A fond smile appeared in Lu Junzhi’s eyes, and he touched Chu Muxi’s head, saying, “Yes, Mr. President High.”
Chu Muxi snorted, “Have you done discussing it?”
Lu Junzhi nodded, “Let’s enter from here first. The surveyor detected a small river nearby this morning. There seems to be something there, perhaps a cave. We’ll investigate.”
“Is this the specific location of the new energy source?” Chu Muxi’s eyes lit up.
Lu Junzhi replied, “It’s likely.” The only uncertainty was the military survey instrument could be accurate to within one meter, but the cave he checked earlier seemed ordinary with nothing inside. Hence, the new energy sources might be within the mountain wall or underground.
Zhao Lei approached from the other side, “Marshal, everything is ready.”
“Let’s go,” Lu Junzhi ordered.
“Yes!”
“Yes!”
“Yes!”
The other three immediately stood up straight and replied loudly.
Chu Muxi almost answered yes, but it wasn’t until Lu Junzhi looked towards him that he reacted and gave Lu Junzhi a bright smile.
Lu Junzhi looked at him and said, “Follow me.”
“Yes, I remember,” Chu Muxi said seriously.
Running around in a place like this was seeking death. There was no way he could leave Lu Junzhi even for half a step.
.
Zhao Lei opened the way in front, Lu Junzhi and Chu Muxi walked in the middle, the bald man was behind them, and the big man was at the back.
As they walked along, from time to time, there would be some strange movements in the forest, but upon closer inspection, they were smaller animals hurriedly passing by.
Only once, a large shadow cast down. Chu Muxi and everyone raised their heads, seeing a huge flying beast with wings of about seven or eight meters passing overhead.
Zhao Lei whispered, “This flying beast is estimated to be level six.”
Last night, Chu Muxi learned that they classified interstellar beasts outside into levels 1 to 9. Below level three, generally, mercenaries from aristocratic families could handle them. For level 5, mercenaries needed to be of a higher level or at least had some reputation, requiring several people working together.
As for those above level five, were more manageable with a dozen mercenaries and well-equipped weapons.
However, those above level seven were almost impossible to encounter on ordinary planets. If encountered, it was challenging to escape without an attack ship. Ordinary weapons were useless against them.
At this point, Chu Muxi remained unaware that they were about to encounter an unimaginable interstellar beast on their journey.
