Rebirth in Journey to the West: Sun Wukong

Chapter 503: The Transformation of the Heavenly Mandate Trajectory (Fourth Update!)

"Kunpeng, old brother, why have you come to help me in the Heavenly Court?"

Amongst the great Saints, the Leader of Tongtian was holding back the Primordial Heavenly Venerable, Puti Patriarch was facing the Tathagata Buddha, Nether River Ancestor was entangled with the Ancient Buddha Ran Deng, and even the Donghua Emperor was targeted by the Mosquito Daoist. Finally, Sun Wukong was able to take a breather. After drinking a sip of his victory wine to recover strength, he turned his gaze to Demon Master Kunpeng, who was nearby, and asked curiously.

The connection between Sun Wukong and Demon Master Kunpeng and others wasn't very close—the last and only recent interaction was when Demon Master Kunpeng had sent the River Diagram and Luo Script to Sun Wukong for the Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Formation's Formation Eye, via Leng Xuan. It had been many years since Sun Wukong had last met them face-to-face.

Unexpectedly, this time when faced with great peril, Demon Master Kunpeng and the others took the initiative to come to the Heavenly Court to help him!

"Wukong, we have always been keeping an eye on your situation!"

Demon Master Kunpeng smiled, his face simultaneously flashed with a hint of apology, "Sorry, we came a bit late, and couldn't save Zi Lan Fairy!"

"..."

Sun Wukong's smile faltered, and his expression darkened—a blow that was huge for him was the loss of Zi Lan Fairy. If Demon Master Kunpeng and the others had arrived earlier, perhaps Zi Lan Fairy wouldn't have died!

However, Sun Wukong quickly dismissed this thought. The fact that Demon Master Kunpeng and others had rushed to save him was already a tremendous kindness. Strictly speaking, they had no deep interaction with him and mostly it seemed he had been taking advantage of them; they really had no obligation to help him.

"Kunpeng, old brother, don't say that—it's not your fault; it's all because my old Sun's cultivation strength was too weak!"

Sun Wukong gave a bitter smile and shook his head; his fist clenched tightly. If he too had proven the Tao and attained a cultivation strength like Demon Master Kunpeng and others, Zi Lan Fairy wouldn't have been extinguished by the Tathagata Buddha while trying to save him!

Curse that Tathagata, old Sun and you will never coexist under the same sky!

A heavy hatred and chilling killing intent rose up from Sun Wukong. Watching the Tathagata Buddha being forced to retreat continuously by the Puti Patriarch, Sun Wukong really wished he could rush up and literally tear the bald donkey apart. Sadly, it remained a mere thought for now; the gap in cultivation strength between him and the Tathagata Buddha was still significantly large. Taking revenge would likely have to wait until after he had proven the Tao and become a Saint!

Demon Master Kunpeng sighed, not knowing how to comfort Sun Wukong. Only Sun Wukong himself could find peace in such matters. However, after experiencing a revival from the dead, Sun Wukong should no longer harbor thoughts of ending his life prematurely. Moreover, even though Zi Lan Fairy was extinguished, Demon Master Kunpeng had just calculated a faint hint of life within her fate. Perhaps there would still be a turn of events.

Boom!

Far away on the battlefield, the Leader of Tongtian and the Primordial Heavenly Venerable clashed fiercely again before each retreated and stood facing each other. After such an extended fight, the Primordial Heavenly Venerable couldn't do a thing against the Leader of Tongtian, not even break through his defense to deal with Sun Wukong.

Seeing more and more newly Sainted powerful beings appearing on the battlefield to save Sun Wukong, the Primordial Heavenly Venerable knew, today, it was impossible to exterminate Sun Wukong, the Demon Monkey.

And having missed today, dealing with Sun Wukong in the future would become even more challenging!

"Tongtian, why must you always defy the heavens? The Demon Clan refuses to be civilized and respect Heaven and Earth. Why do you always stand with them? It was the same in the past, and it's still the same now. Are you not afraid of our teacher's punishment?"

"Punishment?"

The words of the Primordial Heavenly Venerable made the Leader of Tongtian snort with a hint of amusement, "All beings in the universe, all souls in the Three Realms, are equal in the eyes of our master. The Human Race is not nobler than the Demon Clan, nor is the Demon Clan more lowly than the Human Race! Whom I choose to fight for is my freedom as Tongtian, and if our master does not intervene, who are you to do so?"

"Tongtian, do not be too arrogant!"

The Primordial Heavenly Venerable was furious, his gaze sharp as knives firmly fixed on the Leader of Tongtian.

"Arrogant? I, Tongtian, have always been arrogant. Is this your first day knowing that?"

The Leader of Tongtian forcefully said, "Primordial, before the great calamity of heaven and earth, the Heavenly Dao Saint should not interfere in the conflicts of the Three Realms. This is an iron law set by our teacher, and you have already violated it. What right do you have to preach to me here with such a face? If I were you, I would quickly go back and think about how to explain this to our teacher!"

Ever since the opening of heaven and earth, the Daoist Ancestor Hong Jun had secluded himself within the thirtysix layers of Da Luo Heaven, not concerning himself with worldly matters. It had been many years since he had last appeared, but now with the third Immeasurable Catastrophe looming, given the current situation which might evolve from a Buddha Dao conflict to a war for supremacy among myriad races, and possibly even leading to a massive holy war, the Daoist Ancestor Hong Jun, as the true controller of the Three Realms, could not possibly remain hidden. This was well understood by both the Leader of Tongtian and the Primordial Heavenly Venerable.

With those words from the Leader of Tongtian, the face of the Primordial Heavenly Venerable turned even darker. His prior actions were indeed in violation of the orders of Hong Jun. If Hong Jun had stayed hidden, it might have been fine, but once he appeared, he surely would not let him off easily!

Dammit, this truly was a major loss. Sun Wukong, the Demon Monkey, had not been eliminated, nor had the Chaos Divine Pearl been secured, and now he was embroiled in even more trouble, truly unlucky!

"Tongtian, consider this harsh!"

With a menacing phrase left behind, the Primordial Heavenly Venerable transformed into a streak of light that shot up into the clouds. Now, during the third Immeasurable Catastrophe, the space within the Three Realms was extremely stable, even the Heavenly Dao Saints could not easily tear through space.

In other words, he had no choice but to fly!

"Damn it, damn it!"

Outside the core battle circle, within another large battle ring, the Jade Emperor clenched his teeth tightly, his fists creaking, wondering why this was happening?

The Primordial Heavenly Venerable, the Tathagata Buddha, the Ran Deng Buddha, and even the half-hearted Donghua Emperor—this should have been a checkmate situation, so why had there been such a massive change? Why was that Demon Monkey still not killed? What was happening?

The Nether River Ancestor, Yama Heavenly Son, Demon Master Kunpeng, Mosquito Daoist—all these beings who usually hid in the Netherworld Hell or their homes in the Northern Continent of Cattle-grazing, had suddenly broken through to the realm of Heavenly Dao Saints with the arrival of the third Immeasurable Catastrophe, which was completely different from the past prophecies of the Supreme Elderly Lord about the Heavenly Dao!

What exactly was happening? Why had it turned out this way? How could the trajectory of destiny show such a huge discrepancy? Not only had the timing of the third Immeasurable Catastrophe been brought forward, but the rules had also undergone enormous changes!

Originally, this third Immeasurable Catastrophe was supposed to be the least impactful, merely a contention between the Buddha Dao, but now the restrictions had been completely lifted, so many were proving the Tao and becoming saints?

What exactly was happening?
