Rebirth in Journey to the West: Sun Wukong

Chapter 677: Wind-Thunder Divine Stick (First Update!)

"What on earth is this place?"

Inside the Hall of Wind and Thunder, Sun Wukong occasionally dodged clusters of attacking wind and thunder, and looked at the hall walls that kept generating new groups of wind and thunder with utter confusion. After entering, the treasure light he had seen outside the hall had disappeared.

The wind and thunder orbs emitted from the walls did not pose a threat to Sun Wukong, but they were an endless annoyance, seemingly without end.

"Damn it, is there no end to this?"

Enraged, Sun Wukong's eyes emitted a golden light. He fully activated his Void-Breaking Starry Eyes and spread their gaze in all directions. The scenery around him suddenly changed as if dust and smoke were being dispersed. There were no more wind and thunder orbs, no more shaking hall walls. Sun Wukong realized he had been walking in circles at the entrance, never even taking a step into the main hall.

Everything he had seen before was an illusion—there were no walls or wind and thunder orbs at all, all just illusions created by an illusion array!

Thankfully, his Void-Breaking Starry Eyes had broken the illusion array, or he wouldn't have known how many more times he could have been tricked by the entrance!

The treasure light he had seen from outside the door was now flickering in front. A slight smile hooked at the corner of Sun Wukong's mouth, thinking that now everything seemed normal!

He took a deep breath and cautiously made his way along the hall's passage toward the direction from which the treasure light was emanating, not forgetting to hold the Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod in his hand. This sudden palace's origin was unknown, so it was best to be cautious.

Just as Sun Wukong was heading deeper into the palace, the Great Elder and the others also arrived at the entrance of the Hall of Wind and Thunder.

"The barrier is broken, the doors are open, someone is inside! It must be Great Sage Sun! Let's go!"

The entire Wind Thunder Pond had only contained Sun Wukong just before, so no one else could be considered other than him.

"Our leader is so lucky, hey!" said the Demon King of the Rocs, smacking his lips. "It looks like we should stick with the boss from now on. There are so many benefits!"

The Great Elder wholeheartedly agreed and patted the shoulder of the Demon King of the Rocs encouragingly. He led the way into the Hall of Wind and Thunder, with the Demon King and two other members of the Great Roc Clan following behind.

Deep within the Wind Thunder Hall, Sun Wukong swung the Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod fiercely down onto a divine weapon enveloped in the power of wind and thunder, causing it to wail mournfully as it fell onto the ground of the great hall. This divine weapon was the same one that had radiated the treasure light which had led him here, the medium-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure, the Wind-Thunder Divine Stick.

With each swing, the Wind-Thunder Divine Stick struck with incredible speed and ferocity, carrying a powerful force of wind and thunder with it. Although uncontrolled, to Sun Wukong it felt as if he were facing an unrivaled master.

A very powerful Innate Spiritual Treasure Divine Weapon!

Perfect for Yuan Hong's use!

Sun Wukong had long promised Yuan Hong to find him a Divine Weapon of Innate Spiritual Treasure grade, preferably a staff or rod, to help him master the Domain Embryo in advance. However, finding such Innate Spiritual Treasure Divine Weapons was easier said than done.

His visit to the territory of the Great Roc Clan did indeed include a plan to casually obtain an Innate Spiritual Treasure Divine Weapon for Yuan Hong, but it had only been a plan without much expectation. After all, how precious are Divine Weapons of Innate Spiritual Treasure grade? If any had already appeared, they would likely have been taken by the members of the Great Roc Clan long before he could stumble upon an opportunity.

Therefore, the appearance of the Wind-Thunder Divine Stick was a totally unexpected surprise, yet it made perfect sense.

By now, Sun Wukong had nearly confirmed that this Wind Thunder Divine Temple was likely a temple of the Great Roc Clan and one that had been lost for a long time. It lay hidden within the Wind Thunder Pond, and these descendants of the Golden Winged Great Roc simply lacked the strength to discover the temple's existence, or to reveal it, for that matter.

Sun Wukong had also stumbled upon this by accident, having absorbed too much Power of Wind and Thunder to condense the Wind Thunder Great Dao, causing the Wind Thunder Divine Temple to reveal itself from the depths of the pool.

This time, Sun Wukong had picked up a huge bargain, or it could be said Yuan Hong was about to pick up a huge bargain. The Wind-Thunder Divine Stick was extremely compatible with Yuan Hong. Honestly, if he hadn't already promised Yuan Hong, Sun Wukong would have wanted to claim it for his External Incarnation's use.

"Bang!"

With another fierce smash onto the Wind-Thunder Divine Stick, Sun Wukong this time exerted his own Power of the Great Dao, pressing down hard on the Wind-Thunder Divine Stick, "You stay still for me!"

The Wind-Thunder Divine Stick was firmly pressed onto the ground, struggling violently but utterly unable to break free. Finally, the power contained within it was temporarily exhausted, and it submitted, lying quietly on the ground, no longer restless.

"Wouldn't it have been better to behave like this from the start!"

Sun Wukong breathed a sigh of relief and with a thought, he activated the Ruyi Qiankun Bag, sucking the Wind-Thunder Divine Stick into it. The Great Elder and the others, who had hurried over, witnessed this scene clearly.

"Great Saint!"

Hearing the shout, Sun Wukong turned his head toward the entrance passage of the Wind Thunder Divine Temple. The Great Elder, the Demon King, and two experts from the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan had rushed out and quickly reached where he was.

"It's the Great Elder and No. 4, huh? What brings you here?"

A hint of wariness flashed in Sun Wukong's eyes. Could it be that the Great Elder knew he had taken the Wind-Thunder Divine Stick and had come specifically to reclaim it?

"Let me make it clear first, Old Sun has already subdued that stick and intends to gift it to Yuan Hong for his use. There's no way I'm handing it over!"

Before the Great Elder could speak, Sun Wukong had already preemptively declared his stance, sounding quite resolute.

The Great Elder, with a slightly amused smile, quickly waved his hands, "Great Saint need not worry. We have no intention to ask the Great Saint to hand over the treasures he has obtained!"

"Then what are you here for?"

Sun Wukong raised an eyebrow.

"To take over the Wind Thunder Divine Temple!"

The Great Elder said solemnly, "This Wind Thunder Divine Temple is our Golden Winged Great Roc Clan's divine temple, but it has been lost for endless years. We did not expect it to be hidden within the Wind Thunder Pond. Today, thanks to the Great Saint, this Wind Thunder Divine Temple has revealed itself. The chance for our Golden Winged Great Roc Clan to rise has finally come!"

As he spoke, the Great Elder's voice couldn't help but become excited, which was somewhat different from his usual composed demeanor. It seemed that the Wind Thunder Palace really meant something extraordinary to the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan!

"A chance to rise? What peculiarities does this Wind Thunder Divine Temple contain?"

Sun Wukong asked curiously.

"The Great Saint may not know, but within this Wind Thunder Divine Temple, there are the secret techniques of our Golden Winged Great Roc Clan's legacy that can enhance our strength. And most crucially, it contains the methods and skills to accelerate the nurturing of our offspring. This is of utmost importance to our Golden Winged Great Roc Clan!"

As the Great Elder spoke, he solemnly gave Sun Wukong a deep bow, "On behalf of our Golden Winged Great Roc Clan, I extend our gratitude to the Great Saint for his great kindness!"
