Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse

That night, the rain poured down all night long.

Listening to the pitter-patter of the rain outside, everyone actually found themselves sleeping even more soundly.

Su Jin pretended to go sleep in the car, but in fact, she was resting in her Space, and after feeling almost refreshed, she came out.

Seeing Lu Hao still awake, Su Jin, worried their conversation might disturb everyone, called him into the car.

"Isn't Lin Xiuyuan on watch?"

Su Jin remembered that before she went into her Space, Lin Xiuyuan had volunteered to keep watch for the first half of the night.

"Yeah, he was on watch but ended up falling asleep, and I just didn't feel comfortable," Lu Hao said without a hint of complaint, clearly not at ease with letting Lin Xiuyuan keep watch alone, so he had been keeping an eye out, only to find that guy really did fall asleep while on watch.

"How about you go in and sleep for a bit? I'm enough here," Su Jin suggested.

"No need, I'll keep you company," replied Lu Hao, who, not feeling sleepy, found it rather refreshing to spend these quiet moments alone with Su Jin.

Su Jin felt somewhat awkward, the two of them in the confined space of the car, with everyone else sleeping outside, so she could only try to find topics to chat about with Lu Hao.

"Aren't you curious why I didn't let everyone get drenched?" Su Jin leaned on Lu Hao's shoulder and asked.

"This rain, is it unclean?"

Lu Hao recalled how Su Jin had dismissively spoken to Shi Jin, and though it was dismissive, he felt that this was indeed part of the reason.

"Yeah, I can't remember exactly when, but after a certain rain, the number of zombies increased significantly, and some regular people who got rained on either turned into zombies or Special Ability Users afterward, although the latter was very rare."

Su Jin tried hard to recall and continued, "After that rain, even the level of the Mutated Zombies increased, and the Mutated Plants started to appear more frequently."

She wasn't sure exactly when that rain fell, but she tried to ensure that everyone avoided getting wet before then.

Lu Hao heard Su Jin sigh softly and wrapped his arm around her, pulling her into his embrace, "Don't be afraid, we're always together."

The despair Su Jin felt while reminiscing was instantly pulled back by Lu Hao's deep voice. Yes, she had her family, her loved one, her teammates with her; as long as they were together, she was fearless.

Su Jin kissed Lu Hao's cheek and smiled as she said "Thank you."

The next morning, Mao Qiqi was the first to wake up because she felt some zombies slowly moving in their direction, but she didn't sense any danger as there weren't any high-level zombies among them.

After learning of Mao Qiqi's news, everyone went about their morning routines—washing faces, brushing teeth—with no panic since Qiqi had said there were not many zombies and no high-level ones.

Huang Yunxiang and Lin Tianzhen prepared several buckets of Special Ability Water for everyone to freshen up early in the morning.

After washing up, having hot porridge and buns from Su Jin's Space made everyone feel incredibly refreshed.

"Eat up, there's morning training later," Yin Chengtian called out to Shi Jin.

Morning training?

After all, Su Jin the big boss had said, "There's enough buns for all."

After finishing breakfast, Su Jin and Guo Yang packed some items into the Space. It was then that everyone heard a thumping sound from the rolling door.

It looks like they're here!

The rain Su Jin mentioned yesterday enhanced the zombies' sense of smell!

"Qiqi, how many?" Liao Yifan asked.

"About thirty, and there are some more heading this way," Mao Qiqi looked and responded after a while.

"Got it."

Liao Yifan smiled and rolled up his sleeves while his eyes suddenly turned fierce.

The others also grabbed their respective weapons, and Su Jin, looking at Mao Qiqi who was readying her Folding Knife as if she was about to rush to the front at any moment, couldn't help but ask, "Qiqi?"

"I want to join the morning training," Mao Qiqi said firmly.

Hey! Mao Qiqi's words amused everyone. Well, it was only "morning training" after all, and with them around, they would not let her get hurt.

Nie Qing also looked serious because he could see the black aura on the zombies was getting thicker.

"Yesterday's rain," Lu Hao responded.

Lin Xiuyuan nodded, and everyone else also noticed the difference in these zombies, so they were vigilant, fighting back-to-back!

Su Jin was now deliberately practicing her Special Ability. She hardened the tips of the vines into sharp points, which looked like green branches but could easily pierce into the zombies' skulls and even extract the Crystal Cores directly!
