As Raven's mind drifted back to consciousness, the first thing he registered was an absolute lack of pain, a disconcerting feeling, for the memory of passing out due to a searing gut-twisting pain was still fresh in his mind.
His consciousness lazily wandered about, he registered voices, faint but persistent, trying to jolt him out of his stupor. Raven tried to ignore the voice, hoping that the tendrils of sleep embrace him in their comfortable warmth again.
Well these voices were none other than Eric and his three pals.
They had returned to the canoe after a successful hunt consisting of three rabbits, only to find their prince knocked out flat by some mysterious forces, with a deadly grimace on his youthful face.
Right now they were trying to wake him up.
And ...they were not succeeding.
Panic flickered in their eyes. They were well aware that they had zero chance surviving in the Demantoid Wilderness without their prince. Neither did they have any means of paddling out of the Demantoid Wilderness without their prince's protection as they were sure, and rightfully so, that bounties have been placed on their heads, allowing anyone to kill them upon sight and claim a hefty reward.
So they doubled their efforts, letting out hoarse but muffled cries right in front of Raven's ears in a feeble attempt to restore consciousness in a worn out vessel.
Well, this time, their efforts began paying off and Raven stirred ever so subtly.
The haze of sleep receded from his features and his eyelids fluttered gently. Suddenly with a sharp movement his eyebrows constricted into a frown, his breaths came out in ragged gasps and his eyes jolted open into the warm sunshine.
"Wha-what the heck?" Raven shot out a question to no one in particular.
Well, even if he had questioned, no one would have been in a position to answer as they were all busy wiping the sweat from their brows, relief evident in their features.
Sitting up groggily on the canoe, Raven's memories began to resurface. Ugh! Who knew maxing out all his stats would be so much painful?
Cursing the system in his mind for not warning him at the appropriate time, Raven's eyes suddenly fell on the haul of rabbits and his stomach grumbled, protesting at the lack of nourishment after a near-death experience.
Noticing Raven's hunger, Eric and his pals systematically skinned the rabbit, lit a fire with dry branches and leaves and a bit of flame magic and hung the rabbits for roasting. They all sat around the fire in a circle, an awkward silence hanging among them.
Surprisingly, it was Raven who broke the uncomfortable atmosphere.
"So guys, we made it this far together and I don't even know all of your names. This simply won't do! Let's introduce ourselves."
Eric, not surprisingly, was the first one to reply, "Well, I'm Eric Von Ignatius, as you know, Your Highness."
The tall bronze-skinned guy with a chiselled jawline introduced himself as Kevin, the shortest of them all was Sylvan, and the thin lithe guy was Al. Then it was Helios' turn to introduce himself.
The four thought that he wouldn't bother since everyone knew him, but surprisingly he spoke.
"From now onwards, I'm Raven, Helios Raum Ignaz is dead and gone. You all are to address me by my name only. I am no longer Your Highness"
Finishing his little speech Raven removed the rabbits from the fire and divided it into five equal portions, urging everyone to dig in with gusto, and effectively shutting off all their pent up questions.
Finishing their meagre meal the four laid down on the canoe to rest, as their previous hunt had left them exhausted.
Raven alone stood watch.
Well Raven used this opportunity to revisit his other missed notifications of the system.
[Ding! All of Hosts stats have been upgraded to max]
[Host's current stats:
Strength: Max
Stamina: Max
Endurance: Max
Agility: Max
Perception: Max
Charm: Max
Luck: Max
Mana: Infinite, Host does not require to manually activate mana before casting spells anymore]
[Ding! All skills of the system of have become free]
[Ding! Along with maxing out the stats, all skills of the system shop have been incorporated inside the host's mind. The skills will automatically activated when the situation demands it.]
After divulging this much information, the system fell silent, apparently having exhausted himself.
Raven, on the other hand, was super excited, adrenaline rushing through his veins. He decided to not waste a single second and begin testing out his new powers.
He jumped down from the canoe a approached a hulking tree.
No, it was not the tree around whose trunk their canoe was secured, in a sharp contrast to popular opinion. Raven was not that much of a fool.
Suddenly the tree shimmered in a silver light and a familiar ding echoed inside Raven's mind.
[ Ultimate Appraisal Skill is responding]
[ Target is a normal willow tree, 1500 years old, does not possess a mana core. ]
Raven could only mentally gape at the system.
This skill was super OP!
Swallowing his surprise, Raven approached the tree and landed a solid punch on its trunk.
For a brief moment, nothing happened.
Then a booming sound erupted, startling the entire forest.
