Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Power of a God
The room was still.
The only sound was my steady breathing as I stared at the faint violet aura flickering around my fingertips. It wasn't large, nor was it overwhelming—yet the very air itself trembled in its presence.
This wasn't magic.
This wasn't demonic power.
This was Hakai.
The Power of Destruction.
But not the kind that Rias or Sirzechs used. No, their Power of Destruction was a devil bloodline ability. It was destructive, yes, but still shaped by their will.
This?
This was something far purer.
This was the raw energy of existence erasure, the power wielded by Gods of Destruction in a completely different world.
And it now belonged to me.
I clenched my fist, watching as the purple aura snapped out of existence.
A slow grin spread across my face.
I wasn't just a pawn anymore.
I was holding onto something that shouldn't even exist in this world.
I needed to test it.
[Occult Research Club - The Next Day]
The moment I stepped into the clubroom, all eyes turned toward me.
Kiba gave me his usual polite smile. "Glad to see you're feeling well, Issei."
Koneko, sitting on the couch with a chocolate bar in hand, gave me a quick glance. "You didn't die again. That's good."
Akeno smiled from behind Rias' desk, her usual teasing glint in her eyes. "Ara~ You're already walking around like nothing happened? You're sturdier than I expected."
I scratched the back of my head, playing it casual. "Yeah, I guess I'm just built different."
Rias, who was sitting elegantly in her chair, folded her hands together. "Now that you've recovered, it's time for you to start learning about the supernatural world."
I nodded. This was exactly how it played out in the original story.
"You've been reincarnated as a devil," Rias continued. "You're now a member of my Peerage, which means you have a duty to fulfill."
Kiba stepped forward. "We'll be training you to control your new abilities. But first, let's test something. Try summoning your Sacred Gear."
I blinked.
Oh, right. I still had Boosted Gear.
Even though I had Hakai now, I couldn't forget the core of my original strength.
I took a deep breath and focused.
A surge of energy responded almost instantly.
With a flash of red light, the Boosted Gear materialized on my left arm—a familiar red gauntlet with a glowing green jewel in the center.
Kiba's eyes widened slightly. "That's…"
Rias leaned forward, her gaze sharpening. "So it's true. You're the wielder of the Boosted Gear."
Akeno smiled, but I could see the flicker of interest behind her usual expression. "My, my~ What a powerful toy you have there."
Koneko just tilted her head. "Sekiryuutei."
I glanced down at the gauntlet.
Even though I had Hakai, I couldn't ignore Boosted Gear.
This was my foundation.
"Boosted Gear, huh?" I muttered, clenching my fist. "I guess that means I have a dragon in my soul."
As if responding to my words, a deep, ancient voice rumbled within my mind.
[So you've awakened, partner.]
I froze.
The others didn't seem to hear it, which meant this was happening inside my head.
A second later, the voice laughed.
[I am the Welsh Dragon, Ddraig. And you… are my new host.]
Holy. Shit.
It was actually happening.
I had Ddraig inside me.
And now I had to figure out how to balance both Boosted Gear and Hakai.
[That Night - Training Grounds]
After everyone went home, I snuck out.
I needed to test my new power.
The forest behind the academy was perfect.
No one around. No one to see me.
Standing in the middle of the clearing, I lifted my hand.
The moment I focused, the purple energy of Hakai began to swirl around my fingertips. It was like holding condensed annihilation.
I turned toward a large boulder.
Taking a breath, I extended my hand and whispered—
"Hakai."
The energy flared—
And then, in an instant—
The boulder ceased to exist.
Not shattered. Not broken into pieces.
Erased.
My eyes widened as I stared at the empty space where the rock had been.
I had expected an explosion. Some kind of destructive force.
But this wasn't destruction in the traditional sense.
This was pure erasure.
The very matter of the boulder was gone.
I clenched my fist, my pulse pounding.
This power…
This was something that shouldn't belong to a devil, a human, or even a dragon.
This was the power of a God.
And I had it.
A slow, wicked grin spread across my face.
"Yeah… this is gonna be fun."
[Multiversal Chat Group]
The moment I opened the chat, a flood of messages appeared.
[Supreme Sorcerer]: I sense something strange…
[Demon Lord in Disguise]: Hooh? The newbie did something interesting.
[God of Thunder]: What is this energy?!
[Tactician from Another World]: This… this isn't normal.
[The Caped Baldy]: Oh. He got something crazy, didn't he?
[Perverted Dragon Emperor]: Heh. Maybe.
I laughed.
They could sense it, even across the multiverse?
That just meant I was on the right path.
And this was just the beginning.
