Chapter 15: Chapter 15: The Baratie Encounter
As the Going Merry sailed through calm waters, the crew encountered two familiar faces aboard a small fishing boat—Johnny and Yosaku, old friends of Zoro. The pair greeted Zoro with enthusiastic shouts, sharing tales of their recent escapades. After exchanging stories, they informed the crew about the Baratie, a floating restaurant renowned as an oasis in the middle of the ocean.
Intrigued, As they approached, the grandeur of the restaurant ship became evident. Laughter, clinking glasses, and the savory aroma of freshly cooked seafood filled the air, mingling with the salty sea breeze.
Luffy leaped onto the dock without hesitation, his excitement palpable. "I can already smell the meat! Let's eat!"
The crew followed, navigating through the colorful chaos of servers and patrons. Inside, tables were filled with sailors, merchants, and marines, all enjoying hearty meals. They found an empty spot, and Luffy immediately ordered enough food to feed a small army.
As they enjoyed their meal, a Marine Lieutenant named Fullbody strutted into the restaurant, flaunting his authority. His arrogance quickly led to a scuffle with the crew, and amidst the chaos, Luffy accidentally redirected a cannonball straight into the Baratie's roof, causing significant damage.
Chef Zeff, the stern captain and head chef of the Baratie, confronted Luffy. In an attempt to make amends, Luffy offered to work off the debt by helping around the restaurant. Zeff reluctantly agreed, assigning Luffy to menial tasks under the watchful eye of the assistant chef, Sanji.
Meanwhile, Sanji had his own confrontation with Fullbody, who insulted the Baratie's cuisine. Sanji's temper flared, and he nearly came to blows with the marine before being restrained by his fellow chefs.
During the commotion, a ragged, starving pirate named Gin stumbled into the restaurant. A member of Don Krieg's notorious armada, Gin had been detained and mistreated by Fullbody. Desperate for food, Gin pleaded with the Baratie's staff, but was harshly thrown out by the crew, following the restaurant's strict policy of not serving pirates without payment.
Despite this, Sanji secretly followed Gin outside, offering him a warm, hearty meal without expecting anything in return. Gin, overwhelmed by Sanji's kindness, devoured the food with tears in his eyes.
"Why help me? I'm just a pirate," Gin asked between bites.
Sanji replied calmly, "A man shouldn't go hungry, no matter who he is."
Grateful and restored, Gin left the Baratie, vowing to repay Sanji's kindness. However, his return to Don Krieg set in motion events that would soon bring chaos to the Baratie.
Back inside, Luffy watched Sanji with interest. "He's definitely joining my crew," Luffy declared with a grin, his mind already made up.
Unbeknownst to them, a greater storm was on the horizon, one that would test their strength, resolve, and the bonds they were beginning to forge.
