Reborn as Madokas Twin Brother

Chapter 8: Kyoko Sakura(1)

Manaka Kaname held a spear behind him, his eyes were closed as he hummed a silent tune, his outfit flew in the wind as he raised his head and opened his eyes.

They were crimson red like the color of an apocalyptic sky but soon they returned back to their original color, he down from the building he stood upon on, the stars above him glimmered softly in the sky.

he took in a deep breath of the cold night wind and then let it out, Manaka was in a strange mood tonight his abnormal behavior could be explained through one word. "Boredom" Manaka was bored out of his mind that right after he returned home he told his parents he would be going to a friends house but he is just enjoying the night breeze.

If he saw a witch he would hunt it down, but he just came out to enjoy the beauty of a world trapped in a dying universe (That would die in probably 3 billion years). Well he should probably go and do it, he might as well before he goes nearly insane again.

"Huh, what are you doing up here Manaka?" And he was brought out of his delusions as he heard Kyoko's voice right beside him, he slowly turned to look at her and waved to her with a smile on his face.

Kyoko had a lollipop in her mouth, she pulled it out and immediately shoved it into Manaka's mouth.

Manaka raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised by the sudden action. He stared at the lollipop in his mouth for a second before meeting Kyoko's eyes with a playful smirk. "Is this your way of saying hello?"

Kyoko grinned, leaning casually against the rooftop railing. "What, no 'thanks for the candy'? You're pretty weird, Manaka. I thought you'd appreciate it more." She crossed her arms, looking up at the sky with a slight frown. "You've been acting all strange lately. What's on your mind?"

Manaka raised the lollipop slightly, his smirk widening as he gave Kyoko a teasing glance. "Wasn't this in your mouth?" he asked with mock incredulity, his voice light as if the thought hadn't even occurred to him. "I guess we can call it a... unique form of sharing."

"it's just candy and what's wrong if I gave it to you when I already used it" She said clearly unfazed by his actions.

Manaka played with the lollipop as he decided to answer. "Well I guess it's sort of an innocent action though I don't mind the indirect kiss ,I'm surprised you haven't thrown me off the building"

Kyoko scowled as she sat at the edges of the building, she was in her magical girl uniform. "Yeah yeah, I don't kill people, I let the witches do that"

Manaka threw the lollipop of the building. "Sure so why have you exactly come to my place"

"I saw you here and i thought i could ask you something" She asked, her hands was clutching her dress and her voice wavered ever so slightly.

Manaka smiled and then sat beside her. "What is it dear Ophelia"

Kyoko turned to look at him with a brow raised. "What kind of nickname is that"

Manaka slowly placed a finger to his lips. "It is a secret now ask what you want to ask"

Kyoko sighed and didn't bother to ask him about that name. "Are magical girls really witches"

Manaka placed a hand on his cheek, his dark pink eyes narrowed and he sighed, not because of the question, no it was because of the thing that would happen after answering that question. "A magical girl cannot become an adult as they become immortal the moment they make their wish, a magical girl is considered immature and naive because at the end of the day they are just teenagers with a lot of emotions especially at their age, once a magical girl falls into despair and becomes a witch, they would be considered mature, they would become a woman-an adult with all the bitterness and power that comes with the weight of their sorrow. The problem is that, by that point, they no longer care about the ideals they once held. So, to answer your question," Manaka paused, giving Kyoko a side glance, "yes, in a way, magical girls can become witches. They are only a step away from the transformation."

Kyoko's expression darkened, her playful demeanor momentarily gone. She seemed to reflect on his words for a moment, her fingers absently tugging at the fabric of her dress. "So, all of us are just... ticking time bombs?" Her voice was low, the weight of her own experiences creeping into her tone.

Manaka stared at the skies and the stars above them. "Hey, if you want to cry you can, the wish you made killed all your family members, the wish you made was a curse, the wish you made wasn't even worth it in the end because when you reach it, you have no choice but to become a monster, so cry and after you have fallen into despair and become a witch, at least i can take in your despair and purify your soul Ophelia"

Kyoko kept quiet for some time, the colour of her soul gem slowly darkened.

Manaka was right, her wish was not worth it, in the end she still is a little girl who dreams of a prince to rescue her from her tower, but her tower was crumbling and her prince never came, he never even existed in the first place.

Kyoko wanted to cry but she felt like she didn't even deserve too.

She was hopeless, pitiful even and most of all she wa both sad and angry at herself for being such a selfish bitch just because no one came to her fathers church and then made a wish that led to her own downfall.

"Hey, are you really going to give up this easily, are you sure your kyoko sakura or the cowardly ophelia"
