Chapter 203 - 203: It's Time to Talk About Love

Chapter 203: Chapter 203: It’s Time to Talk About Love

The clear cries of the baby echoed throughout the entire ward, easing the tense emotions on everyone’s faces a little.

Brandon Piers looked amusingly at his son, who was waving his hands and kicking his feet in his arms. When he met the child’s clear and innocent eyes, his once cold and hard heart softened.

Since the little guy was born, Brandon had certainly seen him, but he had never observed him so closely.

Except for the initial time when the little guy was sent to the Piers’ old house, Brandon had never easily held him again.

Teddy’s appearance was too unexpected for him.

Before this, Brandon had never thought of himself as becoming a father at this moment.

The Piers’ terrible family atmosphere made him quite indifferent to familial affection. The only close relationship he had was with his grandfather, but there was still some estrangement because of his father’s death.

Combined with his previous health condition, Brandon did not think he was qualified to become a father.

After Teddy was sent back to the old house, he did not think he would become a qualified father either.

He even first considered what benefits this child could bring to him.

But at this moment, looking at the little guy laughing gleefully in his arms, without any defensiveness and with such purity that it made one feel ashamed, he became somewhat entranced. His lips curled up uncontrollably with the child’s laughter, his gaze carrying a tenderness he himself did not notice.

Elder Piers watched this scene, his eyes slightly reddened.

His greatest regret in life was not protecting the woman he loved and ultimately failing to protect his most beloved youngest son. He always worried that Brandon would become solitary and arrogant due to his father’s death and mother’s departure. No matter how gentlemanly his exterior appeared, he feared his inner heart would be desolate.

But at this moment, the elder suddenly felt relieved.

Although Brandon sometimes acted too ruthlessly, his calculations far surpassed his own. In the end, he had not been led astray; his heart was still soft.

People, no matter how tired or cold-hearted they lived, as long as there was someone or something they wished to protect, life became meaningful.

“Let’s go out.” Seeing his grandson still drawn to Teddy, the elder touched the dampness in his eyes and whispered to James Carter and Pullan.

Pullan still wanted to ask if he really needed to repair the flowers, but he was already dragged out by James Carter.

In the corridor, Pullan looked at the elder, then at James, “Didn’t you say there was still something to discuss with the second young master?”

Elder Piers paused in his steps, turned around, and glanced at Pullan, “You fool!”

Pullan looked aggrievedly at James Carter, “What did I do?”

James Carter looked at Pullan with a complex expression and finally felt this big guy was somewhat pitiful. “Um… Don’t you think Miss Abigail and the second young master need some space?”

Wasn’t he being straightforward enough?

Pullan, “Why do Miss Abigail and the second young master need space?”

James Carter stumbled, “… I still have something to do.”

Elder Piers looked at Pullan meaningfully, “Pullan, how old are you this year?”

“Turning twenty-six after the New Year.” Pullan did not understand why the elder suddenly asked about his age.

The elder solemnly patted his shoulder, “It’s time you talked about love.”

Pullan, “…I have been in love.”

Elder Piers had a blank expression, “Oh.”

He must be an idiot.

Pullan watched the elder and his party leave, having no idea what happened. What was up with the elder?

James Carter gave him a deep look and turned to leave as well.

Leaving Pullan alone to contemplate life.

And in the ward, with everyone else gone, the atmosphere turned strange again.

Abigail, holding onto the thin quilt, looked at Brandon who was playing with Teddy, bit her lip and said, “You better help me…”

Brandon nodded, but the little guy Teddy was restless, always causing trouble. Brandon failed to pull up the zipper, tearing at his chest wound, making him groan in pain, “You help me first, um…”

Pullan, who practiced martial arts and had keen hearing, suddenly blushed to his ears.

He seemed to understand the elder’s meaning now.
