Reborn as Richard Castle in Criminal Minds

Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Struggle for Control

In the rundown apartment in Hell's Kitchen, the young version of "Motherf**ker" and his new girlfriend Belle were discussing how to join Castle's team, while Castle himself was deep in thought at home, trying to solve his current manpower shortage.

Castle, immersed in his thoughts, even considered using a strange skill he had acquired from the System—the ability to communicate with animals. Faced with a lack of manpower, he was contemplating whether to bring in some animals to assist him.

However, Castle found himself in a dilemma when choosing what animals to use. Based on his limited knowledge of biology, the best animal scouts would likely be birds, commonly seen in New York. But birds generally have lower intelligence than mammals. On the other hand, dogs and cats were the next options, but dogs were too conspicuous, and cats, despite being stealthy, lacked obedience.

Castle, pondering how to form an animal scouting team, turned to his computer, hoping to find information online. He was looking for animals that were small and inconspicuous, as dogs were not suitable for infiltrating Vincent's rented warehouse, and cats were too independent. The animals needed to be intelligent enough to understand commands, given that Castle's animal communication skill required the animal to have a certain level of intelligence.

A brief online search revealed two potential candidates: ferrets and weasels. Both animals were small, highly intelligent, and could move swiftly, making them ideal for covert operations. Ferrets were common pets in the USA, while weasels, though not as widely kept, were still found in urban areas. Their small size and agility would help them avoid detection by Vincent's guards at the warehouse, situated near the busy New York port.

Castle, excited by this idea, decided to visit a pet store the next day to see if these animals could communicate with him effectively. If they met his minimum requirements, he could establish a small animal scouting team.

Satisfied with his research, Castle turned off his computer and went to rest, pleased with his innovative plan. The next day, he would test his idea, taking advantage of the fact that Beckett and the police department were likely preoccupied with the previous day's events.

Meanwhile, several people in New York were working late because of Castle. Among them was the Vice President of General Atomics, who was frustrated and anxious in his luxury hotel suite, discussing with the company's board in California how to gain Castle's forgiveness and secure an opportunity to compete with their rival, Northrop Grumman.

Mark, the director from Northrop Grumman, who had witnessed the impressive drone demonstration at Castle's Long Island estate, was at the company's New York office, working with his team to verify the flight control system Castle had given him on a USB drive. They were amazed at the system's potential, believing it could greatly enhance their Global Hawk drones. With this system, their drones could outperform those from General Atomics.

Mark's task was to secure exclusive rights to the flight control system in the USA, as directed by his company's board. He was aware that General Atomics had already dispatched a senior VP to New York to seek a resolution with Castle. Knowing that Castle seemed approachable and might be persuaded to forgive General Atomics, Mark was eager to engage Castle in negotiations before that could happen.

Simultaneously, an Italian technical director, initially skeptical about the drone demonstration, was now reporting excitedly to his company president in Italy. After witnessing the demo, he realized the potential of the semi-intelligent flight control system. The USB drive containing the system's code had been rushed to Europe for analysis. The company's president, seeing the system's revolutionary value, was now instructing the technical director to secure the source code at any cost.

This Italian company, linked to Gianna D'Antonio, saw an opportunity to leapfrog competitors and establish itself as a leader in the European drone market. They believed that failing to seize this chance would be a huge missed opportunity.

As these companies raced to secure Castle's innovative technology, Castle himself remained unaware of the growing competition and interest his invention had sparked.
