Chapter : 0.4: Walpurgis Night - The Conclave of Shadows
Once every solar cycle, the Demon Realm's brutal equilibrium is put to the test. The Walpurgis Night Conclave, often shortened to "Walpurgis," is a mandatory, week-long gathering in the neutral capital of Pandemonium. It is a time of immense opportunity and terrifying risk.
The Arrival: The city of Pandemonium, carved from the heart of a fallen star, only opens its gates for the Conclave. The arrival of the 72 Demon Lords is a spectacle of power, with each Lord trying to outdo the others in their display of might and majesty—from arriving on the back of a colossal beast to teleporting in with an army of phantoms.
The Council of Thrones: The formal political assembly where the Lords convene. Here, realm-wide disputes are settled, new laws are proposed, and judgments are passed. A Lord's influence in the council is directly proportional to their rank. The top 10 Lords form an inner circle that effectively sets the agenda, while the lower-ranked Lords are often relegated to observers unless their own interests are directly at stake.
The Umbral Market: The largest and only sanctioned marketplace for high-tier demonic goods. For one week, Lords can trade rare resources harvested from their unique dungeon biomes, barter for powerful monster subordinates from other Lords' bloodlines, and purchase artifacts of immense power. It is a cutthroat environment where a shrewd deal can elevate a Lord's power base overnight.
The Gauntlet of Challenge: The centerpiece of Walpurgis. In the grand arena of Pandemonium, any Lord may issue a formal Challenge for Rank to a Lord ranked above them. The challenged Lord must accept. These duels are brutal, public spectacles, and they are the primary mechanism for drastic shifts in the demonic hierarchy. It is here that legends are born and mighty rulers are brought to ruin.
