Reborn in Konoha; I Think I’m Cultivating Immortality

Chapter 265: Chapter 265

"You can explore Mount Myōboku for now. If you truly are the person foretold in the Old man's prophecy, he will undoubtedly awaken during this time," said Fukasaku Sage, his tone implying his acknowledgment of Hui.

Hui nodded.

Exploring Mount Myōboku sounded like a great idea. The scenery was breathtaking, almost like a town out of a fairy tale, with everything magnified in scale.

If this were in a modern city, charging for the visiting tickets alone would make a fortune! Hui mused.

He thought to himself, I'll bring Tsunade here someday…

"Mochizuki Hui, is it? Since you're planning to explore Mount Myōboku, let me be your guide," Gamabunta offered, sensing how much Fukasaku Sage valued Hui.

"Thanks, I appreciate it," Hui replied, and thus began his journey through Mount Myōboku with Gamabunta as his guide.

There were mushroom-like structures the size of houses, insects resembling ferocious tigers, colossal blades of grass, and towering trees. Hui felt as if he had entered the land of giants.

However, this magical tour was soon interrupted.

The Great Toad Sage had awoken from its long slumber and wanted to meet Hui.

"It seems you really are the person from the Great Sage's prophecy," Fukasaku said to Hui, "Come with me, and I'll take you to see the Great Sage."

Hui nodded, his heart filled with anticipation. Earlier, when he extended his sensory abilities, he had already detected the Great Toad Sage's presence and the overwhelming natural energy and senjutsu chakra it wielded.

The duo quickly arrived at the grand hall where the Great Toad Sage resided. Finally, Hui laid eyes on him.

The Great Toad Sage was a massive orange toad with yellow eyes. Around its neck was a string of prayer beads adorned with a light purple cat's eye stone inscribed with the word "oil." On its head was a scholar's cap, which looked odd, though Hui wasn't surprised by it.

"Who's this visitor?" the Great Toad Sage asked, its half-closed eyes barely registering Hui.

Before Hui could respond, Fukasaku sighed and interjected, "Why do you always do this? Is it fun?"

"Hahaha, fine. Welcome, Mochizuki Hui," the Great Toad Sage said. Indeed, it already knew Hui's name.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Great Toad Sage," Hui replied. His tone carried neither excessive reverence nor undue casualness.

"You truly are a special one. Seeing you reminds me of my brother from a thousand years ago," the Great Toad Sage said, a nostalgic glimmer in its eyes.

Hui's unique constitution was something that neither Fukasaku nor Gamabunta could detect, but the Great Toad Sage perceived it clearly.

To the Great Sage, Hui did not feel entirely human; instead, he resembled someone of the same kind as the Sage of Six Paths.

Though he understood the reference, Hui didn't let it show, as he "wasn't supposed" to know.

After a moment of reminiscence, the Great Toad Sage continued, "I know why you've come. You seek the method for mastering Mount Myōboku's Sage Mode. I've glimpsed it in my dreams, the unique Sage Mode tailored for humans."

"So, it seems I have succeeded," Hui said with a smile, unsurprised.

"By the way, what else did you see in your dreams about the future?" Hui inquired, genuinely curious about what lay ahead for him.

Though he had plans to unify the ninja world and usher in a new era, beyond that, even he wasn't sure what he wanted to do.

"I saw many things about your future," the Great Toad Sage began. Its interest in Hui stemmed largely from the numerous visions it had of his fate.

"I saw you creating many new jutsu, including a new type of Sage Mode.

I saw you donning the Hokage robe, becoming the leader of Konoha.

I saw you uniting the ninja world and leading it into a new era.

"But I also saw you battling formidable enemies, foes who appeared to be from my brother's lineage.

And then…"

The Great Toad Sage paused, a flicker of doubt in its half-closed eyes.

"And then what?" Hui prompted, sensing the hesitation.

The Great Toad Sage shook its head. "After that, your future splintered into countless possibilities. Each outcome was different, and I can't discern what actually happens."

Hui was momentarily taken aback. He hadn't expected such an answer.

"Can you describe the scenes you saw in more detail?" he asked, "Just the visuals would be enough."

"That I can do," the Great Toad Sage replied, nodding slightly before continuing:

"I saw you flying through a starry sky, your body merging with a swarm of enemies.

I saw you standing atop a towering mountain, gazing at a darkened sky above.

I saw you taking a step in a vast desert, transforming the barren land into a lush forest.

I saw you in the middle of the ocean, slicing a ship in two with a single swing of your sword, unleashing a brilliant silver sword aura.

I saw you battling colossal creatures in a strange city.

I saw you becoming the most malevolent deity in the ninja world, enslaving everything.

And I saw you retreating into an ordinary life, living out your days in peace."

The Great Toad Sage listed vision after vision, each portraying a different possible future for Hui.

Hui listened quietly, trying to glean some insight into his path ahead. But the scenes described were so varied and chaotic that it was impossible to draw any clear conclusions.

"So many futures… It's quite overwhelming," Hui finally muttered, rubbing his temple.

"Yes, your future is truly vast and unpredictable. I believe every decision you make spawns a new potential future. Unlike most people, whose destinies are largely fixed, your future is determined by your choices," the Great Toad Sage explained.

"Every choice creates a new possibility, huh? That doesn't sound too bad," Hui murmured to himself, a small smile forming on his lips.

He had thought his fate was set in stone, but now he realized his future held infinite possibilities.

"So, I'd like to know what your thoughts are right now," the Great Toad Sage asked. It could only glimpse fragments of Hui's future, and even then, just a fraction.

"My thoughts right now are simple: create new jutsu, unify the ninja world, and usher in a new era!" Hui declared, recalling the Great Toad Sage's earlier visions.

The sage had perfectly predicted these short-term goals, reinforcing Hui's determination.

"In that case, take Mount Myōboku's Sage Mode training method," the Great Toad Sage said without hesitation. It didn't feel any reluctance in sharing the technique.

After all, in its dreams, Hui had already created a new Sage Mode, one that incorporated elements of Mount Myōboku's techniques.

Whether or not the Great Toad Sage shared it now, Hui would eventually learn it.
