Chapter 37: Volume 1: Chapter 37 - The Killer Rabbit
[As an undercover agent, you have successfully infiltrated the camp of the Enchantress Queen, Morgan.]
[With the help of Merlin's illusion magic and scripted lines, Morgan does not suspect your identity and truly believes you are a knight named "Gus." ]
[However, you know that this is only temporary. The longer an undercover mission drags on, the easier it is to be exposed. You decide to find the hiding place of the Sword in the Stone as quickly as possible and take it away.]
[After all, although Merlin told you before you left that you needed to take your sister to get a new sword to stabilize the army's morale, you are still a little worried.]
[What troubles you, however, is that you are unable to find the whereabouts of the Sword in the Stone that night. At the same time, you notice that this castle seems to be filled with all sorts of early-warning spells, making you understand that you must be even more careful in your actions.]
[However, the next day, before you can even begin your investigation, Morgan's daughter, Gareth, seeks you out first, asking you about your past adventures with a tone of admiration.]
[It seems this girl, who is about the same age as you, has a special longing for knighthood.]
[You feel ashamed for deceiving her with your false identity, but for the sake of the greater good, you still tell her adapted versions of some of the things you encountered while traveling with your sister and the others.]
[Gareth is very excited by this, muttering under her breath that she will definitely become a knight in the future.]
[But this determination of hers does not last long before it is ended by Morgan's arrival.]
[Morgan brings her other son, Gaheris, to see you and demands that you strictly train him to become an excellent knight.]
[On the surface, it seems Morgan wants you to become Gaheris's teacher, but you can't help but feel that this is probably because Morgan doesn't fully trust you yet and has decided to place someone by your side to monitor you.]
[After all, you have always felt the observing gazes of the servants in the castle on you. If it were only one or two people, it could be a coincidence, but when everyone is like this, it means there is a problem.]
[You understand this, because if you were in her shoes, you would not immediately let your guard down around a strange knight who had come to pledge allegiance on their own initiative. Even with Agravain back then, it was only after spending some time with him and confirming that he would not harm your sister that you wanted to get along with him.]
[However, you do not dislike Gaheris and Gareth because of this. You follow Morgan's instructions and diligently teach Gaheris your own swordsmanship. And occasionally, Gareth will secretly watch your practice from the side.]
[In this way, three days of seemingly ordinary life pass. Still unable to find the Sword in the Stone at night, you begin to feel anxious.]
[And just at this time, Fou, who had followed you here at some point, suddenly comes to your room, tugs on the corner of your clothes, and seems to be telling you that it has discovered something in this castle.]
[And so, without hesitation, you follow Fou's steps, dodging one early-warning spell after another, and finally enter a secret room-like chamber, prying open a strange box.]
"Is this the sword, Fou?"
Touching the inscription on the blade, Aozaki Rin, in the guise of the knight "Gus," asked Fou, who was standing on his shoulder. Fou let out a few soft cries, as if in reply.
"Then let's retreat at once."
Although he couldn't see which room he was in, having encountered several early-warning spells at the door when he entered, Aozaki Rin understood that this space was not simple.
Furthermore, when he was prying open the box just now, he seemed to have accidentally destroyed some unknown spell formation on it. Knowing that Morgan had probably already detected his actions here, he decided to leave immediately.
Putting away the Sword in the Stone, just as Aozaki Rin was preparing to escape through the window, a cold and elegant voice suddenly sounded from behind him.
"Isn't it a little too late to leave now? Do you think my castle is a place you can just come and go as you please?"
As the words fell, in an instant, the floor of the room began to tremble. One after another, dazzling magic circles lit up, instantly locking down this space and pinning Aozaki Rin to the spot.
"I knew something was strange... After all, I had just obtained the Sword in the Stone, and someone came to pledge allegiance to me on their own initiative. As I thought, you're a spy sent by Arthur!"
From the darkness, Morgan slowly walked out. The silvery moonlight painted a halo on her exquisite curves, illuminating her pretty face, which was now incomparably cold.
To be honest, Morgan hadn't actually considered the possibility of a spy from Arthur before. She had genuinely thought that someone with clear sight had chosen to serve a superior lord.
But reality had cruelly told her that this was all just a scheme to steal the Sword in the Stone.
It was for this reason that she felt so furious at this moment.
"...Speaking of which, there seem to be traces of magic on you. You've hidden it quite deeply. Let me see what exactly you're hiding!"
The staff in her hand tapped the ground heavily. Within her own magus's workshop, Morgan completed the spell without even needing to chant.
In the next second, the illusion magic on Aozaki Rin, who was restrained by the spatial magic and unable to make any movements, immediately shattered, revealing his true appearance and form.
"...What, it's you, En? honestly, if you missed your sister, you could have just come openly. Did you really have to be so sneaky?"
"But, for that woman Arthur to be willing to send you out, it seems losing the Sword in the Stone has really made her desperate."
After a brief moment of surprise, she immediately understood. Looking at the boy's familiar face, Morgan let out a light laugh, walked up to the immobilized Aozaki Rin, and poked his cheek with her long, slender, jade-like fingers.
The anger from being tricked and deceived instantly turned into glee.
After all, the boy she had been trying all sorts of ways to kidnap had now fallen right into her hands on his own accord.
However, Aozaki Rin was unable to answer Morgan's words. Because the spell formations in this workshop, in coordination with each other, not only prevented him from moving but also sealed his ability to speak, leaving him to just stand there, his unfocused eyes "staring" in Morgan's direction.
"Since it was just my naughty little brother causing trouble, I won't be angry. But there still has to be a little punishment. Let me think... How about, as punishment, I'll have you sleep in my arms tonight, and then I'll send a video of it to that woman Arthur."
Seemingly very satisfied with this answer, the corners of Morgan's lips curled up slightly, her gaze sweeping over the distinct line of the collarbone exposed beneath the boy's fair neck.
But just as Morgan was fantasizing about how Artoria would despair upon receiving the video, she didn't notice that a small, pure-white animal was slowly circling around behind her.
Fou crouched down slightly, as if gathering strength. But before it could leap up, Morgan turned around and looked at it.
"Did you think I didn't notice you? You cute little rabbit. But I didn't expect that you would keep such a strange pe—OOF!"
Before she could finish her sentence, Fou shot up like an arrow loosed from a bowstring.
Only a white shadow was seen flashing through the air. In the next moment, Morgan was sent flying by a tiny, flesh-padded paw and crashed into a pile of junk in the room.
And at that moment, because Morgan's magical energy had been briefly disconnected from the workshop, Aozaki Rin's movements were restored.
"Phew... Thank you, Fou. Also, I'm sorry, Miss Morgan."
Aozaki Rin let out a sigh of relief, beckoned for Fou to sit on his shoulder, and after apologizing to Morgan, he immediately smashed the room's window with Durandal.
But before he could leap out of the window, Morgan's somewhat furious voice sounded again.
"If you're going to apologize, then you should show some sincerity, En. Just stay here!"
Magical energy vibrated in the air. Morgan, sitting collapsed on the ground, raised her staff, and in an instant, countless magical thorns erupted from the air, binding toward the boy at the window!
This was her magus's workshop. If she let the boy escape from her own home turf, it would be a complete disgrace for her as a magus.
But things just wouldn't go as she had planned.
Sensing countless fluctuations of magical energy surging toward him, Aozaki Rin held Durandal and, at the very moment the magical thorns were about to touch his body, he swung the blade down gently.
"—Full Counter."
—BOOM!
A violent explosion directly blew off a corner of the castle, tearing a large hole in it.
Awakened from their sleep by this noise, Gareth and Gaheris hurriedly rushed over, following the sound, only to see their mother, Morgan, sitting on the floor of the magus's workshop, looking somewhat annoyed and gnashing her teeth at the large, blasted hole.
"I'm sorry, Gareth, Gaheris. Please let me apologize properly the next time we meet."
This sentence drifted into the ears of the girl and boy, causing them to blink in confusion.
And looking at her nearly half-destroyed workshop, Morgan's ample chest heaved up and down as she said, pained and unwilling to accept defeat.
"Arthur, you owe me another one!"
"And you, En! The next time I catch you, I'm going to do this to you... and then that... and show you what happens to disobedient little brothers!"
