Chapter 38: Chapter38-I Never Wanted to Be a Swordman!
Seeing that Kidd could endure fragments of the Sword of Judgement skill, Velen didn't hold back.
With a faint smile, he gathered more and more skill fragments into Kidd's body.
Ten!
A hundred!
A thousand!
As the skill fragments surged endlessly through Kidd's mind, he felt as though he were alone, facing countless hellish demons. Piercing, hoarse wails echoed endlessly in his ears.
At a certain moment—
A single sword strike!
Sword of Judgement!
Endless radiance surged like white waves, crashing against the hellish demons, instantly dispersing them completely!
The next moment, Kidd snapped awake, eyes wide, gasping for air!
"Not bad, not bad! Congratulations! Now you've officially entered the realm of a swordman, and you're only one step away from becoming a Grand Swordman at Adept Rank!"
Seeing Kidd awaken, radiating a pure aura of Judgement, Velen smiled and praised him.
Hearing this, Kidd was on the verge of tears.
He was perfectly fine as an awakener, and now he had somehow become a swordman. Worse, he had even shown signs of advancing to wield sword aura.
He didn't want to be one of those swordmen who charged headfirst into battles.
Hiding in the back, scheming, and being the sly opportunist was his true calling!
But, to be fair, this Sword of Judgement was absurdly powerful!
He had a strong feeling that if he could fully master it, even their Lord of the Holy Light Temple wouldn't stand a chance against him!
And that lord was a top-tier powerhouse at Ascended Rank level 9, a renowned legendary swordman!
Precisely because he understood swordmen so well, Kidd felt even more unsuited for this role.
After all, swordmen charged into the thick of battle, with no room for retreat. It was far too dangerous! Which swordman didn't carry countless scars?
They called them "marks of honor," but they clearly testified to how much peril they had endured!
If the lord sensed the sword aura within him, Kidd was certain of one thing:
The lord would undoubtedly force him to become a swordman, perhaps even take him as a saint disciple for personal guidance!
Imagining himself having to charge at the forefront, fighting on the frontlines, his mouth twitched involuntarily.
Looking at Velen, there was something he wasn't sure he should say!
In the end, he didn't dare say it out loud and could only stare at Velen with a tearful expression.
"Big brother, this swordman skill is so powerful—why don't you learn it yourself?"
Velen shook his head and said, "I think I'm fine as I am now. There's no need for me to become a swordman."
Kidd: "…"
Damn it, you don't want to be a swordman charging into battle, so you make me one?
He thought he was sly enough, but he hadn't expected someone even slyer!
Seeing Kidd's agitated expression, Velen patted him on the shoulder and said,
"No need to get so worked up, and no need to thank me. You're my friend—helping friends is the right thing to do!"
Kidd almost spat out a mouthful of blood in reverse.
This was killing him—both literally and figuratively!
"Congratulations, host, for demonstrating the Sword of Judgement (Broken). You've earned 1000 luxury points!"
The system's voice rang out, but this time there were no additional special rewards.
Velen glanced at his system interface.
Current luxury points: "5810!"
Not bad. He wasn't far from reaching 9000 luxury points!
By then, he could instantly level up to Adept Rank level 9!
Before entering the Singularity Battlefield, Velen had accepted a system mission:
Eliminate one hundred Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeasts to earn system luxury points.
"Well then, it's time to get to work. In a bit, you'll be charging ahead, unleashing sword aura while we carve a path through. Don't let a single Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeast escape!"
As he spoke, a chilling aura emerged above Velen's head.
A ferocious ice dragon materialized, exuding freezing air from its body, causing snowflakes to drift in the surrounding air.
"Frostbreath?"
Seeing the ferocious and majestic ice dragon above Velen, Kidd couldn't help but exclaim in shock!
Velen tilted his head to look at Kidd, somewhat surprised. "You recognize this skill?"
Previously, when he used this skill, even the assistant steward and the duke hadn't recognized it. They only knew it was an advanced D-level skill.
"Isn't this one of our Holy Light Temple's obscure yet immensely powerful D-level skills? Big brother, how do you know it?"
Although Kidd didn't know the skill himself, he was quite familiar with the skills of his faction.
He and Velen weren't even from the same galaxy, yet Velen knew a skill from his faction. Clearly, something wasn't right.
Hearing this, Velen gained some insight as he looked at Kidd.
Clearly, the system's draws brought in skills from various galaxies across the universe.
Velen didn't explain much to Kidd and simply gazed ahead.
"Let's go. Time to hunt spellbeasts!"
With that, Velen charged forward.
As they advanced, they caused a massive stir in the Second Zone.
"What a terrifying aura of Judgement! Where on earth is that guy from?"
"That icy presence next to him seems even more terrifying. Even from this distance, I can feel my lungs freezing!"
"These two must be geniuses from a top-tier faction. We absolutely can't provoke them!"
The aura of Judgement radiating from Kidd affected an area spanning several miles, making it difficult for many awakeners to breathe.
Velen, on the other hand, seemed like the god of ice and snow. The ice dragon above his head exuded an overwhelming chill, surrounded by swirling snowflakes.
No one dared to block their way or attack them.
Even though they rampaged through the Second Zone, slaughtering the spellbeasts they had targeted earlier, no one dared to express anger, choosing instead to endure.
For someone like Kidd, who had always preferred to lurk in the shadows, this was his first time experiencing such blatant dominance.
Now he felt an exhilarating sensation rising from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head!
"So this is the benefit of overwhelming power? No one dares to shout, and everyone behaves so respectfully without a hint of disrespect!"
Kidd glanced around, relishing the reverent gazes from all directions, feeling a sense of superiority he had never experienced before.
In the past, when he fought and plundered resources in the Singularity Battlefield, he always kept a low profile, at most attacking from the shadows. This was his first time being so openly domineering.
"Big brother Velen, why don't we set a time to enter the Singularity Battlefield together again? That way, I can stay by your side!"
Kidd was well aware that his current power came from Velen. Even though his current strength was considered first-tier, if he were besieged, he'd still be done for.
But with Velen around, he always had a sense of security. Even in a siege, he knew Velen had his back!
"That's not out of the question. However, the next time I enter the Singularity Battlefield, I'll probably be heading into the Third Zone."
Hearing Velen's confident words, Kidd's mouth twitched.
"Big brother Velen, you're way too confident. Are you saying you already feel like you're about to level up?"
"Feel like leveling up? Not quite. But when I do level up, I'll jump straight to the next major rank. The next time you see me, I'll probably be an Adept Rank level 9 awakener."
Kidd stared wide-eyed at Velen.
For awakeners, even advancing one minor level was an immense challenge.
Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many Apprentice Rank level 9 awakeners risking their lives in the dangerous Singularity Battlefield to seek resources.
Yet Velen confidently claimed he'd jump nine levels in one go—how was that possible?
Still, considering Velen's abundant rare resources, perhaps he wasn't exaggerating after all.
In any case, Kidd could only respond with admiration, "Then I'll wish you success in advance, big brother! No one can rival you!"
Not long after, Velen locked onto a group of Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeasts.
"The nine Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeasts leading the pack are mine. You can handle the rest!"
After assigning tasks, Velen charged at the nearest thunder wolf. The Frostbreath above his head unleashed a surge of white, tidal-like cold air!
The chill froze the ground dozens of meters ahead, forming crystalline ice!
The thunder wolf didn't even have time to struggle before it was encased in ice, resembling a vivid ice sculpture!
As Velen continued to channel Frostbreath, the frozen thunder wolf shattered into icy fragments, vanishing into the wilderness.
One move obliterated an Apprentice Rank level 9 thunder wolf!
Kidd, standing nearby, was speechless with shock.
The spellbeasts in the Singularity Battlefield were known for their ferocious strength. At the same level, they could easily take on three opponents at once.
Yet Velen had obliterated one with a single move!
