Chapter198-Heard You Want to Challenge Me – Kris Scared to Tears
"What?!"
The moment Velen spoke, Arthur instantly realized he had been played by Kris. Fury surged within him.
Damn you, old Kris!
You actually tricked me!
I'm your beloved friend, your blood brother!
…Wait a sec!
Just as Arthur was about to angrily spill the truth, a sudden gleam flashed in his eyes.
Suppressing his rage, he put on a serious expression and explained, "Your Highness, Kris said… if you want his help, the one-eyed red-haired man must come and fight him personally!"
"Huh?"
"He wants to spar with the one-eyed red-haired man?"
"You didn't tell him how powerful that guy is?"
Velen looked surprised.
Since when did Kris get so bold?
He actually wants to challenge that guy?
"I told him!"
"And precisely because I told him how powerful the one-eyed red-haired man is, he got excited and insisted on challenging him!"
"Actually, Kris has this quirk—he loves challenging strong opponents!"
Determined to get some payback, Arthur spun the tale with practiced ease, sounding totally legit.
"He likes challenging the strong?"
"No wonder Kris has achieved so much. Just for that, I must send the one-eyed red-haired man over to spar with him!"
Now that Velen learned of Kris's "special hobby," he felt compelled to help him fulfill it.
"Your Highness, I'm here!"
Just then, a Spatial Rift opened above the flying vehicle, and Justin stepped out, visibly excited.
"Activate this Spatial Portal and head back."
Velen casually tossed over two unactivated portals.
Justin: ???
Go back?
I just got here and you want me to go already?
Are you taking me for a joke?
Justin was utterly baffled.
"Go back and notify the one-eyed red-haired man. Have him come over. Then activate the other portal and return."
Seeing Justin's dumbfounded look, Velen explained patiently.
As Justin began activating the portal, Velen turned to Arthur and asked, "Arthur, among the Five Grand Knights of the Uno Kingdom, is there one who practices the Way of the Bow?"
"Your Highness, my mentor is a total beast at archery! His aim's crazy accurate!"
Before Arthur could answer, Justin—already halfway into the portal—shouted out excitedly.
Hmm?
Velen's brow twitched. "I thought your mentor focused on the Path of Sculpture. Why is he also—"
…Oh crap.
Halfway through his sentence, Velen suddenly realized something. His expression darkened instantly.
"Uh… Your Highness, I'll go find the big guy right now!"
Sensing the shift in Velen's tone, Justin quickly leapt into the portal.
"Arthur, back to the question—among the Five Grand Knights of the Uno Kingdom, is there anyone who specializes in the Way of the Bow?"
Now that Justin was gone, Velen let out a breath and asked again.
Sigh…
Arthur sighed internally.
Your Highness, even though you let three of the other knights off the hook last time, looks like they still can't escape after all…
"Yes, Your Highness. Among the Five Grand Knights, there is indeed one known as the Thunderbow God."
Arthur answered with a bitter smile.
"Really?"
"Then would you mind inviting him over? I have a small favor I need from him."
Velen beamed with delight.
"No problem!"
"Please wait a moment, Your Highness—I'll bring him right over!"
With that, Arthur shot into the sky toward the Thunderbow God's estate.
Thunderbow God's Estate.
"What?!"
"That insane, money-burning maniac wants to see me? And he wants my help?!"
Thunderbow God visibly panicked upon hearing Arthur's request. He had already heard quite a bit about Velen from Arthur and Kris. Honestly, he hoped he would never have to meet the guy.
But now?
The nightmare was suddenly, mercilessly real.
"Kris, hypothetically speaking… if I pretended to be sick, could I dodge this disaster?"
Thunderbow God was grasping at straws.
"Thunder, hypothetically speaking… if you pretended to be sick, he might just send someone to fetch you."
Arthur offered his guess.
"Who would he send?"
"Don't ask. That person's probably heading to Kris right now. Go take a look—you'll understand."
With that, Arthur took Thunderbow God and rushed back toward his own estate.
Fortress.
The moment Justin appeared, he saw a group of people lying around, completely broken—wrecked by the one-eyed red-haired man.
"Huh? You were also sent here by His Highness for training? Perfect!"
"Come on! Let me drill you next!"
The one-eyed red-haired man gave him a terrifying grin.
Oh no.
Justin nearly fainted from fear.
Big bro, please no!
"N-no, big bro… His Highness said someone wanted to challenge you."
"Challenge me?"
"Then what are we waiting for?!"
The red-haired man's eyes lit up.
Arthur's Estate.
"So, you're the one who wanted to challenge me?"
A Spatial Rift shimmered open, and the one-eyed red-haired man's excited voice came through first.
Finally—someone bold enough to challenge him!
Clearly, they had to be a worthy opponent.
Wait, what?
When did I ever say I wanted to challenge anyone?
Why does this guy sound so hyped?
Kris was utterly stunned.
Lounging in his recliner, he had no idea what was happening.
Then he saw him—the one-eyed man with a crimson scythe stepping out of the rift—and he leapt up in terror. Cold sweat stood his hairs on end.
Even though he'd never met this guy, Kris knew instantly—this had to be the lunatic Arthur warned him about!
"Sir, there… there must be some kind of misunderstanding! I never said I wanted to challenge you!"
Seeing how pumped the red-haired man was, Kris panicked and quickly tried to explain.
"Misunderstanding?"
"Doesn't matter. My master told me to spar with you—and so we shall!"
"Come on—draw your weapon!"
The man pointed his blood-red scythe at Kris, grinning with anticipation.
Thirty seconds.
That's all it took.
In just thirty seconds, Thunderbow God—watching from the shadows—nearly pissed himself.
He watched as the red-haired man carved slash after slash across Kris's body.
Shaking, he turned to Arthur and blurted, "Quick! Take me to see His Highness—now!"
Kris's Estate.
"Your Highness, I've brought you the Thunderbow God."
"But Kris might need a bit longer to spar with that man… If you need our help, just say the word—we won't refuse!"
Arthur introduced Thunderbow God, then added uneasily.
Thunderbow God forced a couple of laughs, clearly nervous.
"This is one of my fortress's sculptors. He's hoping to create three sculptures and needs to observe the laws you each practice to capture them accurately."
"Don't worry—I won't let your help go unrewarded."
"As long as you're willing to cooperate, I guarantee you'll leave with full pockets."
Velen smiled warmly as he revealed the true reason for his visit.
