Chapter 3: First meeting

In the quietude of the hospital room, Emily's voice was a soft echo. "What did he say to you?" she inquired, her eyes searching Tyler's for truth.

"Nothing much, just inquired about your health," Tyler replied, his gaze shifting away, a clear sign of evasion.

"Did he say anything... strange?" Emily pressed, her intuition sensing the unsaid words hanging in the air.

Tyler hesitated, the silence growing heavy between them. Before he could fabricate a response, Dr. Harries entered, his arrival a timely interruption. With a reassuring smile, he escorted Emily for further tests, leaving Tyler alone with his thoughts.

Meanwhile, Ethan's presence filled the car with an air of unresolved tension. "Let's head to the company," he directed Oliver, his voice firm.

Oliver, driven by a mix of curiosity and concern, ventured, "Boss, may I ask something?"

Ethan nodded, a gesture granting permission.

"You chose not to reveal the truth to her," Oliver stated, more an observation than a question.

Ethan's eyes darkened, a storm brewing within. "I couldn't," he confessed. "The truth only brings her pain. We both know the scars of the past."

They arrived at the **Supreme Enterprise Conglomeration**, its towering presence a testament to ambition and legacy. Ethan, heir to this empire, stepped inside, the weight of destiny pressing upon him. As he walked through the halls, a tightness gripped his throat, a physical manifestation of the emotional turmoil he fought to conceal.

"What's wrong, boss?" Oliver's voice was laced with concern.

Ethan paused, collecting himself. "It's nothing. Just the ghosts of this place," he murmured, his voice barely a whisper.

Together, they continued to the chairman's office, each step a march towards an uncertain future. Then they reached the chairman's office. Ethan and Oliver stood before the imposing door of Chairman Jonathan Clark's office. With a measured knock, Ethan sought entry into the sanctum of power.

"Enter," came the commanding voice from within.

Ethan stepped inside, the air thick with expectation. Jonathan, a titan in his realm, gestured to a seat with a casual flick of his hand. "You've excelled in Germany. It's time to embrace your role in earnest," he declared, his words a cloak of veiled demands.

Ethan mustered a respectful, "Thank you, Dad," but the term of endearment struck a nerve.

Jonathan's face contorted with ire, and he slammed his fist onto the desk. "**Never** address me that way. You'll do as I command. Now, **leave**."

Ethan rose, his resolve steeling him against the tremors that threatened to betray his composure. He exited, but once outside, his legs buckled, and he crumpled to the floor.

Oliver rushed to his side, concerned, etching his features. "What's happened, boss?"

Ethan's voice was a strained whisper, "Just a moment of weakness." Gathering his strength, he stood and made his way to his office, each step a battle against the shadows of his father's towering legacy.

The hospital's sterile corridors echoed with the soft footsteps of Emily and Tyler as they made their way to the exit. The finality of the doctor's words still hung in the air, a gentle yet firm reminder. "Emily, you're free to go. But remember, don't force memories. Let them come naturally," he advised, handing her a small bottle of pills that rattled like distant thunder.

With a nod of understanding, Emily clutched the medicine, a lifeline to a life she could not recall. Together, they stepped out into the world, a place both familiar and foreign to her.

Upon arriving home, the sight of her parents waiting on the porch stirred something deep within Emily. Their eyes were wellsprings of unshed tears, their arms open wide. As they embraced, her mother's voice cracked with emotion, "We've been waiting for you, my child."

Her father, a Stoic figure, had a tremor in his voice as he spoke, "The house wouldn't be the same without you, Emily."

Tyler watched the reunion, a silent guardian of their collective pain and hope. As Emily's gaze met his, a single question lingered unspoken between them-a question of a past shrouded in mystery and a future yet to be written.

The warmth of home enveloped Emily as she sat at the dinner table, surrounded by the comforting scents and sounds of a family meal. Yet, amidst the laughter and clinking of cutlery, a question gnawed at her mind, a key to unlocking the past she yearned to reclaim.

"Mom, do you know where I work?" Emily's voice cut through the merriment, sending a ripple of tension through the room.

Her family froze, their eyes darting to Tyler, who sat with a secret etched into his every expression. "Who did she know?" they whispered among themselves, their words a silent storm brewing.

Tyler nodded, his reply a clandestine murmur.

"She remembers little, only the place of her employment."

Emily's heart raced as she observed the covert exchange. A suspicion took root, a belief that they were concealing truths tied to the very company that employed her. "They're hiding something," she thought, her resolve hardening.

Her mother's voice was a soothing balm, yet it did little to quell Emily's doubts. "I know where you work, darling. What's troubling you?"

"I want to go there, to work," Emily declared, her determination a beacon that pierced the fog of amnesia.

The air thickened with unspoken fears and secrets, as Emily's simple wish became a catalyst for the unraveling of carefully guarded mysteries.

Emily's mother's voice faltered, "You could work elsewhere, anywhere but there."

"Why, Mom? What's wrong with the company? It's one of the largest in our country," Emily pressed, her brows knitting in confusion.

Her mother stumbled over her words, the truth a heavy stone in her throat. "It's... it's not good for you."

"Why not?" Emily's insistence grew, a reflection of the mounting tension.

"Because of the accident you had there," her mother blurted out, instantly regretting her slip.

Emily's heart skipped a beat, but she masked her shock with a calm facade. "Don't worry, Mom. I won't pry too much about the company."

Relief washed over her mother's face, but the air remained thick with unsaid words. Emily's curiosity, once a gentle stream, was now a torrent. "Mom, do you know about my boyfriend?"

The word 'boyfriend' struck her mother like a bolt of lightning. "Wha... What?" she stammered.

"Yes, Mom, Tyler," Emily said, watching as her mother's tension dissolved into relief at the mention of Tyler's name.

Her father and brother were silent sentinels to the unfolding drama, their silence a loud echo in the room. Emily's gaze swept over her family; their evasions and half-truths were a map to her hidden past.

Pushing away from the table, Emily stood.

"Please, show me to my room," she demanded, her voice a mix of command and plea.

Her brother led the way, his silence a guide through the maze of secrets. Once inside her

room, Emily's resolve hardened. "I will uncover my truth alone," she thought, "and the key lies within the walls of that company."

In the dim light of the dining hall, Emily's mother's voice was a sharp edge cutting through the silence. "How did she come to know about that company?" she demanded, her eyes fixed on Tyler.

Tyler's response was measured, yet it carried the weight of unsaid truths. "Ethan visited the hospital," he confessed.

A gasp escaped Emily's mother, her mind reeling with betrayal. "How dare he show his face after all the pain his family has caused?"

The room tensed as Emily's parents confronted Tyler. "Since when are you her boyfriend?" they questioned, their voices a mix of suspicion and hope.

Tyler stood, his resolve as clear as the truth he shielded. "I claimed the title to protect her," he admitted, his gaze unwavering.

A moment of understanding passed between them, and Emily's mother softened. "Don't worry, I approve," she whispered, a reluctant smile breaking through.

Tyler nodded, a silent gratitude in his eyes. "I must leave now; please grant me your blessing," he requested, his voice steady.

With a collective nod, they watched Tyler depart, his silhouette a lone figure against the backdrop of their tangled lives.
