Reincarnated as a Blood Demon on Terra? I've Hit the Jackpot!

Chapter 19: (RBT) Chapter 19: Does She Want to Elope with Me?

After chasing Warfarin away, Lucifer got back the quiet time that had been missing for several days.

Although he enjoyed the sense of satisfaction when he was with Warfarin or Ermengarde, the solitude of being alone was also something that could be savored. If he were still living his past life, without a computer, a mobile phone, online interaction, or even an offline game to pass the time… he probably couldn't enjoy this kind of solitude.

One hundred years... Lucifer had been on Terra for over a hundred years now. His perception of time and his worldview had been completely molded into the form of this land. He would often keep to himself in his old mansion, brewing those bloods into blood wine with an even deeper flavor, or meditate by the window all afternoon without thinking of anything useful at all. Sometimes, on a whim, he would go out for some fresh air... or to hunt for some fresh blood.

This was Lucifer's daily life. It seemed monotonous and simple, but it was almost entirely free of accidents or troubles.

"That's too boring. Why do I feel like you have the mentality of an old man?"

That's right. Warfarin had been chased away by Lucifer, but Ermengarde, who had gone to study at Babel, had returned. She listened to Lucifer describe his boring and repetitive life, finding it hard to imagine if his mental state was still healthy.

"Who asked me to be so old at such a young age…"

Although Lucifer looked young on the outside, he was about one hundred and sixty years old and had even personally been through several brutal wars. But among the Sarkaz, Lucifer wasn't considered very old. It was just that his state of mind was truly like that of an old geezer whose youthful fire had gone out. Thus, he was stuck in a strange position, unable to go up or down… just stuck in limbo right there.

"Have you never thought of finding something to do?"

"This big brother has lived for over a hundred years, woke up to fight in a crazy war and got half his head blown off… you still won't let me enjoy life enough?"

It was well known that Blood Demons were very petty. Lucifer still held a grudge, never forgetting for a single day the "newbie welfare package" he had received upon his first arrival on Terra.

But Ermengarde was a little surprised. From Lucifer's account, when his head was blown in half by the enemy, he still had some ability to move and was partially conscious, and could even regenerate himself. Such terrifying life force, even greater than that of a Corpse Eater or a Wendigo, was not something an ordinary Blood Demon could easily achieve. It was feared that only the Blood Demon Overlord was a step above Lucifer.

"Stop asking only about me... You've been to Babel, haven't you? Is there any fun or juicy gossip to share?"

Regarding the Babel organization, which Teresa had founded herself, Lucifer couldn't say with a full mouth that he was optimistic about it. He could only say that he hoped it would create some exciting events for him to enjoy.

"From what I've seen… I can only say we'll probably have to wait a little longer?" Ermengarde said uncertainly. Although she had visited Babel, at this point, it had only just been established. Its scale and influence were not yet very high. The only thing that surprised her somewhat was the advanced technology of Babel's interior design. Some of the equipment she had never even seen before.

"As for the person named Kal'tsit… how should I put it… she is a very meticulous person. She looks extremely cold, and she almost kicked me out." Perhaps it was because Ermengarde was constantly taking notes about Babel, which made Kal'tsit, who was afraid that some secret might be accidentally discovered by her, become agitated. Fortunately, the Demon King of Kazdel was present at the time and stopped Kal'tsit's idea of kicking someone out.

"In that case, I wish Babel all the success." Seeing that there was nothing fun to talk about, Lucifer immediately lost interest in Babel.

The old mansion, with only the two of them, was quiet for a while, until Lucifer noticed that Ermengarde seemed to be packing something.

"…Are you leaving?"

"Ahem. That should be the case, shouldn't it? As the special envoy of the Liches, I have completed my mission. Besides, Leithania isn't very peaceful these days. If I don't go back soon, I'm sure some trouble will arise." Ermengarde explained to Lucifer while packing her books and bedding all into her "Void." Although she wanted to travel on a public fund for a while longer, if she continued to slack off, she would inevitably get a lecture from Fleamont when she returned, and then be heavily oppressed by work for sure.

"But… if you were to ask me to, I might be willing to stay a little longer, you know?" Ermengarde looked at Lucifer with an expectant gaze, tinged with a hint of teasing.

But Lucifer, in the matter of disappointing her… never truly disappointed.

"Don't forget to buy a lottery ticket on the way back. That ability of yours is excellent, you know."

"Sigh… you're as boring as ever!" Ermengarde let out a long, "disappointed" sigh, then finished packing all her luggage and slowly walked towards the door of the house.

Two steps from the door, Ermengarde suddenly stopped, then turned to look at Lucifer again.

"Uh… Mr. Lucifer—do you want to go with me?… Like… go together… leave Kazdel with me."

"..."

Originally, Lucifer had intended to say something funny to send Ermengarde off, but when he met her pair of expectant eyes, the joke on the tip of his tongue got stuck in his throat.

If Lucifer agreed… unless the Blood Demon Overlord or the King of the Corpse Eaters came themselves, no one could stop him from escaping Kazdel.

And if he followed Ermengarde to Leithania… would he be able to adapt to the environment there?

Lucifer had no way of knowing.

Should he go with Ermengarde?

Did he want to go with Ermengarde?

Lucifer himself didn't know either…

Isn't this just like a couple who fell in love at first sight and are now eloping? This is the plot of a cheesy primetime soap opera…

Ermengarde waited quietly for Lucifer's response, but in the end, he did not answer her. He silently watched her leave his old house… and her shadow slowly disappeared from the territory of Kazdel.

It was unknown whether Ermengarde had already left Kazdel or had returned to Leithania, but Lucifer continued to stay cooped up in his old mansion. He thought, and thought for a long time… reason and logic told him that his choice was the correct one.

In the last war, he had killed quite a few Leithanians. If his identity were to be discovered by the people of Leithania, it would surely cause conflict, and the Lich clan could not protect him forever. His presence would only be a burden to them.

Secondly, on an emotional level… Lucifer didn't regret not following Ermengarde. It was just a pity… Leithania wasn't a suitable place for him to spend his later years. If Leithania were replaced by another region, he might have boarded Ermengarde's ship… but unfortunately, it could not be changed.

But it was alright… Lucifer didn't think he was fated to never see Ermengarde again.

Parting… is merely an opportunity, to wait for the next time they meet again.
