Chapter 168 Elanna: Not...Not Brother Qing (10K, 60/76)_5
Soon, Kael followed behind Elanna and arrived at the Royal Knight Academy.
Under Elanna's guidance, Kael quickly made his way to the dueling ground.
It's quite funny to say, just yesterday he had a noble versus noble power dance challenge with Earl Campbell on the dueling ground of the Royal Knight Academy, and here he was, revisiting the old place in such a short time.
It wasn't even half a day.
He had guessed that the situation on the ground might be worse than he imagined, but what he didn't expect was to find a group of students fallen on the ground like leeks after he stepped into the dueling ground.
They looked as though no one had attended to them, with most people squatting on the ground, gasping for air, you would think they had been through some inhuman torture.
"Miss Elanna, how dare you bring this person back… are you here to laugh at us being knocked down by your teacher?"
Annoyance showed on Elanna's face as she snorted and said, "If you were capable of defeating the teacher, then you would be sitting in the teacher's position by now instead of being here and thinking that getting knocked down by the teacher is a joke."
She was about to say something when she noticed Kael stopping her, saying with a slight smile:
"Elanna, let me handle this!"
After hearing Kael's words, Elanna held back the words she was about to say.
Kael opened his arms, and the light of magic glittered in his hands. The spreading glow swept over their bodies like the brilliant sun, quickly tending to the wounded members.
One by one, the members stood up, their faces still showing their reluctance.
Kael gave them a meaningful glance and noticed some of them looked at him with a faint fear. He instantly understood these students weren't as he had imagined – they didn't merely lash out without thinking, some among them knew his true identity.
"You are quite interesting. I thought you were just ignorant brutes, trying to take advantage of Elanna's good nature and provoking some youth-style antics.
But now it seems you're aware of my identity and that of Elanna too.
Let me guess, you think that by challenging and defeating Earl Campbell, I represent to some extent the top close-combat strength among the young nobles…
And you think if you have the chance to beat me, you can instantly gain a great deal of glory, and maybe even win the heart of a beauty?"
Hearing Kael speak this way, a look of surprise appeared in Elanna's eyes; she hadn't realized these people were quite cunning.
While this group hesitated, Kael openly laughed and said, "We're all young here, so what's there to say? If you want glory, then try to snatch this glory from my hands!
I am right here, standing and waiting for you." Your next read awaits at My Virtual Library Empire
Perhaps empowered by Kael's voice, these youths, though carrying guilt and annoyance in their eyes, stood up one after another.
One tall, sturdy student performed a knightly bow and then said, "Thank you for your acknowledgement. Shall I be the first one to challenge?"
Kael shook his head, and just when the tall student thought he was going to be refused, he heard a heart-stopping reply:
"You're too weak, it wouldn't be interesting."
Kael looked around and snorted, "All of you come at once. I'm in a hurry. We'll stick to hand-to-hand combat, no magic. Using magic would be too much of a bully against you."
The crowd became furious upon hearing this, glaring angrily at Kael.
Kael remained unfazed, simply stretched out his hand, and made a gesture with his fingers signaling them to come at him.
The group was silent for a moment before someone finally voiced, "We cannot lose this fight, let's go together."
After exchanging glances, the group suddenly surged forward en masse.
Kael watched these young knights rushing toward him, without a trace of fear.
The next instant, he made his move.
Backfist with his left hand.
The weighted fist sent one student sprawling on the ground, unable to get up.
Front kick with his right.
The next closest student was sent flying to the ground by that kick, clutching his belly and wailing.
Front kick with his left.
Kael switched direction and another person was downed in an instant.
Straight punch to the abdomen with his right hand.
The student he hit was briefly airborne, rolled over, and crashed at the edge of the dueling ground.
Backfist followed by a chokehold with his right hand.
There was another, overpowered and pinned face down on the ground by a single hand.
Front kick with his left.
Yet another encroaching student fell.
Grapple and throw.
A cloud of dust swept across the ground, as the student wearing soft armor was left foaming at the mouth on the ground.
A right punch intercepted under the knee.
The popliteal fossa is a vulnerable spot rich in nerves; one punch there and the student was in so much pain that he lost the ability to fight back.
Kael struck again with a right punch to the abdomen.
Instantly, his opponent went from lack of resistance to limp like a dead fish.
This method of interception was something he had learned from a close-combat fighter in his previous life, a technique called Jeet Kune Do.
It was said that Jeet Kune Do was created by a martial arts superstar before the nuclear wars, emphasizing simplicity and swiftness, specializing in intercepting mid-attack, advocating a flexible fighting style.
Kael found when using it, if one had a thorough understanding of human joints, such attacks could more easily neutralize an enemy without causing death.
