Chapter 59: Cat Fight
Even though Tohka's voice was not that loud, many students still heard her declaration causing a commotion.
"Look, that girl just said something cool, Kyaa!"
"Isn't it the other way around?"
"Kuh! I'm so jealous of him!"
The students commented their thoughts while watching the drama unfolding.
This made Shido feel very awkward as they became the center of attention. Even though he has a thick face, he still felt a bit embarrassed when Tohka said those words in public.
"Tohka, don't say something so-"
Yet, before he could finish his words, Origami responded to Tohka's provocation. Releasing Shido, she turned to face Tohka directly.
Origami narrowed her eyes at Tohka, her expression unreadable. "Heh, you say that Shido is yours, yet did you ever consider what he thinks about it?" Her voice was calm, yet there was an underlying pressure to it.
Tohka's violet eyes flared with determination as she clenched her fists. "Shido belongs to me! He said he would always be by my side!" she declared with unwavering confidence.
"You actually believed him, Shido only said those words to make you let your guard down, then dump you when he had his way with you."
Origami said with a deadpan expression, making Shido's lips twitch.
'Why the heck is this girl accusing me?!' Shido really wanted to slap Origami's butt for saying something that might cause a misunderstanding.
Tohka was shocked when she heard her words. Though she didn't actually believe Origami, Tohka was afraid that Shido would really leave her after playing with her.
"What!? I-Is that true Shido?" She looked at Shido and asked him nervously.
This caused Shido to reveal a bitter smile wondering whether all his care and love for her was not enough to show that he care for her.
"Don't believe her Tohka, she's just teasing you. And Origami, don't say anything that will cause a misunderstanding."
Shido glared at Origami for almost making Tohka, this silly girl believe her.
Origami on the other hand didn't mind Shido's glare, she even felt her body became hot from his intense gaze. In the end she only stuck out her cute little tongue as a response.
Watching her acting cute despite his stern expression, Shido could only reveal a bitter smile as she was too carefree, right?
"Is that true?" Tohka eyes lit up once she heard Shido's words yet she still asked him again to calm her nervous heart.
"Of course, you're very dear to me, how could I bear to leave you?"
"Shido!"
Tohka was moved by Shido's words, she would leapt into his arms if she was not in a standoff with Origami.
"Shido just said that since he felt that you're too pitiful. He do not like girls that have big piece of meat on their chest."
Tohka glared at Origami, puffing up her cheeks. "I don't believe you! He likes my breast very much, he even rubbed them. Unlike you who always tries to cling to Shido with your flat chest, following him around like some kind of stalker!"
'Oi, oi... Do you really have to say that in this kind of situation?'
Shido was speechless as these girls didn't actually consider what they said.
Origami remained expressionless yet her lips twitched a bit. "I don't deny it. But at least I don't act like an overgrown child always throwing a tantrum."
That was the last straw. Tohka's brow twitched, and in an instant, she lunged at Origami. The two girls locked hands, their strength evenly matched as they struggled against each other.
Shido's eye twitched as he watched the ridiculous spectacle unfold. The murmurs around them grew louder as students gasped and cheered, treating the scene like some kind of live drama.
"You guys…" Shido muttered, rubbing his temples. He had already experienced many headaches before, but dealing with these two fighting over him in public was beyond exhausting.
Tohka and Origami continued their tug-of-war, their glares shooting metaphorical sparks.
"Shido is mine!"
"No. He's mine."
"That's not true!"
"Yes, it is."
Shido had enough. He stepped forward, lifted both hands, and—
Thwack!
"Ouch!" 2x
He knocked both of them on the head, his fists coming down with just enough force to make them flinch.
"Enough already!" Shido scolded, his voice carrying a tired tone. "Do you two have to fight over something this ridiculous? We're in public, for crying out loud!"
Tohka and Origami both flinched, rubbing their heads pitifully where Shido had lightly knocked them.
Tohka pouted. "B-But Shido! She started it!"
Origami remained silent but gave Shido a blank stare, as if processing what just happened.
Shido sighed helplessly. "I don't care who started it. Just stop causing a scene!"
The surrounding students whispered amongst themselves, amused at the sight of Shido knocking some sense into the two warring girls.
Tohka and Origami exchanged brief glances before turning away from each other with a huff.
"Fine." Tohka grumbled, crossing her arms.
Origami nodded, her expression unreadable but her lips slightly pursed.
Shido groaned. 'This is going to be a long day…'
...
"We will have a test tomorrow, so make sure to review today's discussion."
Okamine-sensei announced that there would be a test tomorrow before she left the school, ignoring her students pitiful grumble.
"Itsuka, are you confident with the test tomorrow? By the way, I am sure that I will pass that test with the help of my lovely wife."
Tonomachi said while he revealed his phone with a gacha girl on the screen.
Shido looked at Tonomachi who was now talking to himself leaving him sighing. He looked at his right and saw that Tohka and Origami were having a staring contest.
The atmosphere between the two was intense. Origami looked like it was so easy to her as she maintained her deadpan expression. Meanwhile, Tohka was glaring at Origami but her brows were twitching slightly as she felt her eyes started to feel itchy.
Yet she didn't want to lose, especially towards Origami. Tohka gritted her teeth as she turned serious yet when she was just beginning to regain her composure, Origami suddenly said something that made her lose her focus.
"Ah, a Kinako Bread had fallen from the sky." Origami commented in a monotone voice. It sounded so fake yet considering that it was Tohka, she was baited immediately.
"Nani!? Where is it?" Her eyes widened in surprise and blinked, she began looking left and right to look at the falling bread yet she didn't see anything outside.
"What a fool, you really believe that a Kinako Bread falling from the sky? What are you, a child? Pupupu."
Origami said sarcastically, her voice didn't carry any emotion as she laughed at Tohka, trying to provoke her.
"K-Kuh! Damn you Origami! You dare to trick me." Tohka gritted her teeth as she lost to Origami again.
"Cut it out you two, both of you are causing a scene again in the classroom."
Shido stops the two of them from fighting. He was initially watching the two with interest as she thought that they looked funny yet he was speechless when Tohka had fallen from Origami's tricks.
Yet, it was Tohka after all so it was not really that surprising for her to fall for the most ridiculous thing. Especially when it was about Kinako bread, as it was Tohka's favorite food.
Nevertheless, he was still speechless at the result of their ridiculous contest. Still, it was good that things seemed to return to normal once again since he really thought that the two of them would fight earlier on the way to school.
Fortunately, things didn't escalate further, otherwise, it would have been another headache for him. He realized that it might be a little hard to make the two of them accept each other's presence since both of them are a Spirit and the other is a member of AST.
But, Origami's view towards Spirit should be diminished by a lot after his explanation to her. The only problem right now was Tohka. Even though her mind was like that of a child, she was also sharp and hardheaded when it came to certain things.
